It was removed and broken up over a year ago unfortunately.

It was only a barge with Imagineering added on top intended for use in the movies.
Disney decided to send it to CC as an attraction, but as it was never converted/built to be something to be permanent, the weather and wind's etc took it's toll on it, and eventually they had to remove it to the other side of the pier and dismantle it and dispose of it.

It's a shame, but would have been great to see while it lasted.

Ex Techie :)

thanks! I remember seeing it in 2008; it was a surprise not to see it again.

awww im slightly disappointed! i was looking forward to seeing it in May! but it does make sense, but at the same time ,i they could have at least tried to keep it an atraction,

We had seen it in November 2010 and was excited to share it with my little nephew when we cruised in July 2011 on the Dream. We started pulling in and there was no Dutchman. :scared1: I asked some of the crew in the restaurant and most were apparently new because the answer was "The ship is here?" :lmao:

I asked some more and I got vague answers such as "It floated away." "It's the Flying Dutchman and was taken by pirates." Oh for goodness sake there was no child within earshot just give me a freaking answer. When we did the jetskis later in the day, the vendor running the thing told me that it was breaking apart and there was no way it was coming back. We were disappointed not to see it.

We were at CC in Oct of 2010 (a few weeks before they dismantled her) and unfortunately she was looking quite bad. She was listing and definitely falling apart. The one whole side looked like it feel right off. She was never meant to sit in sea water for any length of time (considering she was a movie prop) and it seems like she succumbed to the elements.

If you look through the thread about her, you can see how it was pulled to the other side of the pier and taken apart. It was sad to see her go, but like I said, she was looking awful when we saw her on that trip. I'm sure it was becoming a safety liability.

We say the very last of it in Dec.2010 it was just a rusty barge in the work site by the dock. The ships crew told us that i may be sunk to form a new reaf

They definitely didn't sink it. Look at the link above where there is pictures of the ship being dismantled. There is also pics on pg 5 and 6 of the deterioration she suffered. :littleangel:

So sad! My boys loved that ship! Wish they could have fixed it or reconstructed it.

What was left on the barge is what they were referring to sinking, not the entire ship. The fiberglass and what everelse was on the barge was removed, and they were thinking about using the barge to make a reef out of.

There were some rumors that Disney was going to replace it with another ship (one built to resist the elements), but I haven't heard anything else about it. :(

:rotfl2: Haha! I love Disney!

Ok, we were there in Sept 2011, how did we miss it? We did spend just a little time on the island, but I can't believe we didn't notice it missing....how crazY!

Id heard the same rumor, though it was something there, not necessarily a ship.
