Hello,

we came back home tonight, or this early morning, depending on the perspective! Anyhow, at 1 AM...
This is not a real trip report, because I can't recall everything (ah ah, my memory fails) but I wanted to share some bits of my trip.
Son (7 years old), hubby and I left our home on the 9 of March early in the morning at 6:00 am heading to Leonardo da Vinci airport (Rome). My son was very excited, especially because he likes travelling by plane. At home, before leaving, we checked the wheather forecast, and also I asked my friend there near Paris what was the real situation. Then I packed mountain clothes and jackets, and this saved us, literally. We travelled with just hand baggage, so as to be ready to run and get the TGV train to Marne La Vallée: it is faster and cheaper than the bus dedicated to Disneyland. The flight was nice, as well as the short travel by train: by 12:45 AM we were at the hotel New York.
We never tried this hotel before, but as there was a flash offer we booked this hotel, we were curious to try it, and also seemed interesting to stay so close to the parks. Last June/beginning of July, we stayed at the Newport Bay hotel, and we were very happy about it: it was bright, fresh, nicely themed. This time I was a bit unhappy regarding the theme: the hall was gloomy, and the corridors were quite dark as well. The lamps were shielded by some glass that imitated alabaster, which reminded me Galla Placidia Mausoleum in Ravenna... something like a catacomb atmosphere.
Anyway, the check in was fast, the people at the reception friendly and efficient: in that moment anyway, the hotel looked quite empty, even if we were told it was full booked. We left our baggage at the desk and we rushed to the park.
Son asked us to do as a first ride Star Tours, saying that it was better doing it before eating! How considerate for his old parents! Then we ate at Videopolis Café Hyperion just in time to see the show on stage: African tam tams.
Then we spent the rest of the afternoon trying to do as much rides as possible: it was very cold, the wind was chilling, so we tried to choose indoors attractions. Despite the mountain jackets, the hats, scarves, gloves we began to feel cold anyway, so we moved to leave the park at 6, way before the closing time. While going to the Main Street, I heard a woman crying in my language, so I turned and I saw a little girl, 3 yers old more or less, who was lying unconscious in her mother's arm. Before I could do anything the mother and the other woman with her were already rushing towards the first aid point, that was luckily near. I am sure she had received the best care, anyway I was left a lot upset by this event, because you don't expect it may happen something bad there in Disneyland. Thinking that the girl could have been sick because of the freezing cold, I checked my son all the time.
We wanted to go back to the hotel, and then go out for dinner, but on the way we decided to stop at the Rainforest café, and it had been a very good idea. The restaurant was still quite empty, so we were seated very close to the elephants: my son was literally fascinated! The waiter was very nice, after being served he later came to ask if we were happy about the food. This restaurant is very child friendly and the people working there very helpful and kind. For example, a little girl, in order to see better the elephant had knocked on the floor a table with all the cutlery: husbad rushed to prevent the table to fall completely on the girl, then called a waitress to clean the mess. The waitress came, smiled at the girl and quickly picked up the cutlery from the floor. This restaurant is not cheap, but you have good value for money, and it is not only about food quality, wich was very good indeed!
It was time to go to bed, so we headed to the hotel to get our room.
Baggage was taken to our room. Honestly, I don't see any reason for this hotel should have 4 stars: the standard room has nothing more the equivalent at Newport Bay (which had the ante-bathroom instead). The room itself needed some little restoration: the wallpaper was tore just where the bedtable was, the safe was not with combination but with a key (you have to pay 60 euro if you lose it!), the water taps had some scale-marks, one of the beds was squeaky, the carpet was stained. I have to say that our room at the Newport Bay in June was in much better shape!
This is all my report for the first day.
