I'm glad your TR made it over here safe. Love the guy holding your sign for Towncar.
We had a meeting last nite for our h.s. band and we found out over 75 parents are going down from our area and we are not chaperones. There are over 125 kids in my dd h.s. band, plus 35 chaperones. I don't think there will be anyone left in my little town. Security at our airport will wonder why everyone from Lomira is leaving.

Thanks so much for the quick laughs already! :happytv:
I first related to you wanting to unload the dishwasher and deciding not.
Then the limo driver with the sign! What a hoot!!!

:beach:
Looking forward to more!!

Yes, I made a color-coded spreadsheet for the trip. I actually made four versions because each family had slightly different ADRs and travel plans.
Oh, I just knew I'd like you!
I love picking them up early to leave for a trip, don’t you? There’s something so exciting about skipping into the school offices and signing the form that says, “We cannot wait another minute to blow this joint! We are going to Disney World so please don’t try to stop us!”
YES! And my DS4 likes to rub in a little, with a last turn toward the class, a wave of the hand and a "I going to Disney now!" :rotfl:

The spring break airport jam is legendary in these parts. Those with early flights on spring break Friday call the afternoon flighters (us) with reports of looooong baggage check waits and security backups. Two years ago the security line was over two hours long on spring break Friday.

Everyone goes away on spring break, and most go by plane.
I'd totally forgotten this experience! I grew up in Buffalo, NY and it was the same there. Down here in FL, my school district took away Spring Break altogether. At least we won't be adding to the WDW spring crowds, I guess. :sad2:

We came down the escalator and were greeted by Carlos:

:rotfl: Love it!

Yes, I made a color-coded spreadsheet for the trip. I actually made four versions because each family had slightly different ADRs and travel plans. The Fixer, now Operator, is here to serve. It’s my pleasure and actually gives me a huge surge of joy to highlight, print, and deliver the itineraries in Disney Princess folders!

Oh, thank heavens I'm not the only one! 'Cept mine are lime green folders decorated with liberated LGMHPC's! :thumbsup2:

This is THEE best photo ever!!!!:rotfl: I love it!

Thanks for sharing! As always, your TR's are highly entertaining!:goodvibes

OMG, Grammy's right. Think about it people. Carlos' sign was specifically designed for the purpose of using it in Jami's trip report. How organized and forward thinking can one person be?!?!?

I love you, Jam, and I love this report already! I can't wait to hear your stories of magic and see all 568 (was that the right number?) pictures. YES, ALL of them!!! Especially the angry eyes :lmao:

Oh, and Emeline. Your post cracked me up!:thumbsup2 Glad you are going to be here for this one. Where is the Cookmaster?? We need the peanut gallery to add to Jami's stories!!

No more naps. (Hope you didn't snore or drool!)

Keep writing sister!!

Welcome back! I can't wait to read more. I feel like I know so many of you already from other TRs. I also love a TR with a lot of detail.
I still don't leave for another 46 days!! Last year this time I had already been once and still had 3 trips to go! This year, not so lucky. Just one May trip. May convince DH that we need an October trip. So write on! I need a Disney fix to get me through the next few weeks!

Hooray! you are back! I loved your previous report and can't wait to read more.:surfweb:

You are blessed to have wonderful friends to travel to Disney with.

:laundy: I hope you don't have too much of this to do :laundy:

More Please :woohoo:

:cool1: Loved the last report. Looking forward to a new one to help me get my excited for my trip in December!

Thank you all for reading along! Next chapter up tonight!

We will wait patiently:) We know good things come to those who wait!! Thanks for something to look forward to tonight.

You are a better wife than I...I would have had to empty the dishwasher :laundy:

Not only did she plan to use the picture of Carlos in her TR but an added bonus is that she had the camera out and ready to capture the moment before anyone waved him down ... much better effect to have him still looking for someone that might look like a Fixer or Cookmaster. :thumbsup2

Yes, I did say cottage cheese. I’m sorry if that offends you. Pretend I said cream cheese or cheese Danish because it’s critical to the trip report.

The South Beach Lifestyle eating plan (ahem) does not mix well with the continental breakfast served in the concierge lounges on Disney property. Excuse me for a moment. I need to digress. Yes, we stayed concierge, except now Disney calls it Club Level because every resort has a Concierge in the lobby. That’s terrific but I have to get used to calling the Concierge level Club level and I am not used to it and Shrek will never remember it. The grocery store in our hometown was called the M & J until he was 12. It has changed names four times but he still calls it the M & J. Some of you can relate. I will call it Concierge level here because that is what I call it.

Anyway, when we planned this trip I tried to talk Shrek out of staying there even after I had convinced him to stay at Beach Club. The value just isn’t there and I am all about value. Practical is one of my middle names. Shrek is all about feeling like he is really really on vacation once a year and he wants that once a year feeling to be at Disney. We do not live, vacation, travel, recreate, shop, or dine at that level of service on any sort of regular basis, but it is part of the Disney vacation experience to him so I grit my teeth, tried to ignore that extra expense (with no VALUE), and enjoy the Itinerary Planning Office before the trip.

The IPO, which is available to help you with ADRs, ground transportation, tickets, extras, questions, requests, etc, by phone, fax, and email before your trip for Yacht, Beach and Boardwalk had a very nice staff but were much more difficult to reach than the IPO at Contemporary or Poly had been. They also seemed to be unsure about answers to many of my questions. In short, they were very kind, but I did most of the planning.

As I have done on our last four trips, I let the IPO know I would like cottage cheese or hard boiled eggs for breakfast as I cannot have bear claws, Fruit Loops, or Krispy Kremes. Well, I could, but I needed some boundaries and breakfast seemed my only hope. This had always been a simple request. The IPO always took note for me, the concierge staff had it waiting, and I would ask for the breakfast in the lounge with no fanfare or question.

This year I received a voicemail (one of many voicemails we traded): Mrs. Fixer, I was informed, we no longer accommodate lifestyle dietary requests.

Well, now. This was a shocker. I was not just upset about the cottage cheese, though I questioned what and how I would get breakfast. I was most upset in this huge decline in Disney service, and told the CM in IPO when I phoned 3.2 minutes later.

She was very nice and understood my dilemma. I told her it was simply a broad drop in guest services and it made this repeat guest very unhappy. She suggested we utilize private dining (room service). Um, I don’t think so. When I told Shrek, he suggested we not stay concierge level, which I wanted all along but knew he didn’t.

The CM emailed me the phone number (I had asked) and email for the General Manager of the resort. I spoke to someone in that office. They were very helpful and insisted the IPO CM was incorrect. She was happy to accommodate my request!

Before we left, I called to confirm everything (day before) and the IPO again knew nothing about my request and gave the same answer. I went back the management and kindly asked for assistance.

I really didn’t and do not want to be a squeaky wheel. As I told her and later Shrek, I just didn’t want to be in bed in the resort the first night wondering if there would be a big confusing scene the next morning when I asked for breakfast! For these two weeks, for the first time, I thought, Disney doesn’t care. They ARE going the way of the corporate giant. I am not a guest. I am a number and they want my money. I was actually disappointed (a bit) in the Mouse.

She could not have been nicer. She assured me this was NOT Disney policy (but why would IPO say it was?) so it was fine that I asked! She put me at ease and seemed to hear my heart. She could tell, I think, that I love Disney and heard my excitement turning to concern about my Magical Gathering for sixteen. She asked about the families traveling with us. She asked about my room preference.

The day before we left for Orlando I received a call from another member of Beach Club management. He wanted to know about my room requests. I told him we had just requested a full balcony. He asked if we cared more about a balcony or a view. I told him we had requested a ‘real’ balcony (as Beach Club has tiny ones, too). He, too, asked for our friends’ last names.

You guessed it. They were upgraded. When the Coattails arrived on an earlier flight that day, Emeline called reported they were on the second floor but had access to the Concierge level with the Fixers and Gatelatches on floor five!!

I was so excited but didn’t tell the CookMaster lest something change. When we checked in the CM kept telling her she was on the fifth floor, right next door to the Fixer family. She kept saying, “But we aren’t on that floor.” She FINALLY got it!! It was so much fun.

Like I said, it was all because of cottage cheese:

Wow! What a friend. You are too good. Thank the cottage cheese for the upgrade. Wow... Lucky Coattails! I guess, this time concierge paid off for you and your followers.

:woohoo: I love to hear when Disney goes the extra mile to make a guests stay more magical. I just finished your other TR (I know, a day late and almost a year short!) and what an amazing trip!! I hope this trip was just as wonderful. Can't wait to here more on the journey of the Fixers, Gatelatches, and Coattails.

Wow - I'm not sure why I have goosebumps over a container of cottage cheese???

I'm guessing it was time-dilation effect that allowed me to experience the joy the Coattails felt when they were magically upgraded (not knowing there really was no value in the upgrade ;) )

Just to clarify....both the Coattail AND the Gatelatch/CookMaster families were upgraded, right? I believe the Fixers were the only ones who actually PAID for "Club Level". Such a deal!!!

And Jami, how was the balcony?? Sounds like a lovely place to steal away and eat a bacon, egg and cheese croissant, no?!? Of course, that would only be if you couldn't get your hands on the cottage cheese. RIGHT?!?:rotfl2:

WOW! I just spent the last week reading your first trip report - and am thrilled to get in early on this one!

And I can honestly say - I've never gotten teary over cottage cheese before! Not even a little... :wizard:

Suh-weeeeeet!!!!

Upgrades to club level?

That's just flat out awesome. I don't know what I'd do if that ever happened to me!

I'm looking forward to more of your report. I know it's gonna be good!
