The first step is asking for help....

If I were there with you in my favorite state of Colorado- I'd take you hiking with me!!! :) The weather might be turning cool there but it's got to be beautiful in the afternoons to take some nice walks- pick out some nice parks to visit- feed some squirrels and bring a bottle of water and nice walking shoes- you'll feel MUCH better!! 6 pounds in a month is not bad- heck I'll probably gain that much at 1 week in Disney- but make the next days good for you days and you'll find yourself back on track!!!

Kelsie, your making a step in the right direction by coming back to visit us. It is moderators like yourself that have provided us this wonderful place to express our struggles and feelings without having to be ridiculed at and scorned at. This is your support network, do not give it up.

Focus on your free time to do things that you missed while devoting so much time to your job. Try making a list of those inexpensive things that you always wanted to do for yourself while time was not available and go and do them.

Get out of the house and force yourself to spend time outside. You can do it, and you can get back on track, go for it. It is in you.

I can feel the desperation and fear in your post. It is so scary to see even a few pounds of what you have lost sneak back up. It reminds us how vulnerable we all are to the reasons that we ended up needing to loose weight in the first place. All it takes is one or two events and we can spyral back into our old habits erasing all the hard work and effort that we did to loose the weight. It makes you feel desperate and scared.

You made the first step by coming to us. Where else can you get support like this. It's like a big supportive family where everyone else knows what it's like.

Second, After reading half of Dr. Phil's new book...........I agree with Binny that a change in jobs is listed as a high stress event in one's life. Maybe a good step for you might be to pick Dr. Phil's book up and read it. It really makes you dig deep into your soul and learn to identify the reasons that you eat out of emotions. That is what you are doing right now to help deal with the stress you have right now. Once you learn how to deal with this sress you can overcome it. I don't have his book in front of me, but he lists some steps that you need to do to learn to identify these feelings, and to change them. Maybe this book is exactly what you need at this time in your life.

I know that you can get out of this slump, and you have made the first step. If getting back on program seems to overwhelming right now.........try to do it in baby steps. Maybe journal could be your one step. When you feel comfortable add something else. Even if you make off program choices, right them down. Also, right down what you are feeling when you eat it. It might help you figure out what emotions are causing you to eat.

Also, try to surround yourself with people who are supportive and you are accountable. Like this board...........by coming here when you aren't feeling in control, our support will help you.

Keep your chin up. You have the power to gain control. I know you can do it.

You have been dealt a change in life that wasn't expected. (Heck, you must have started at your old job as an infant ;) ) You have grieved your loss, and it is time to get yourself back into the perspective that is healthy for you. And that you want which is why you are here! You have the love and support of friends that you have never met, nor spoken to, but we are here for you. Now and always.

I know I am feeling sorry for myself but, it's time to get my fanny in gear. I was able to reclaim my 30 pound clipart so that makes me VERY happy. I have a busy few weeks coming up, camping with the Girl Scouts this weekend and then I leave for the 3 day Cruise next Wed. I am looking forward to meeting some friends and GETTING OUT OF THIS HOUSE lol.

I checked out 'Curves' yesterday (can you believe it!) but at this point, I am not willing to spend the money when I can walk for free (I am on a fixed income ;) ) Now, if I will just do it. I got a great offer from another Diser here in Denver who would like to do some things together (thank you!), she lives pretty far but I am going to try and work something out.

Thanks again for all of the support. I avoided posting here because I knew I had to be accountable and was just not ready. I am now! :)
