The first sign of spring!

Take a look around your yard! What gives you the very first sign that spring is around the corner???

We have a pussywillow in our backyard. For me, the minute that bush starts poppin', I know spring is coming soon!

And, boy, does it ever feel good!

I've got daffodils & alliums coming up. I hope to see hyacinths and tulips soon. I can't wait for the blooms....

First signs of spring:

The fields around our place get a tinge of new green under the brown dead vegetation.

The lilacs and forsythia plants get fat buds on them... waiting to burst forth when the weather warms up more.

Weeds show up in the flower beds! LOL!

The rose bushes begin to take on a reddish look to them... as the sap begins to run more freely.

I can't wait to see the forsythia spring up in the back yard! That would be our first sign of spring, although it still seems a long way off!

I was just outside today and I saw my daylilies starting to come up.....WOO HOO! I thought it was a little soon, but who cares? I'll go with it.....

I have to go with the forsythia also. Seeing them turn bright yellow along the parkways and in yards lets me know Spring finally sprung and I get a big smile on my face.

I pruned back the magic carpet rose in my patio garden this morning... and what should I find beneath it's over abundant growth?!? Tulips that are coming up!!

Upon inspection in the main garden... there are bulbs up there as well!

I don't think spring is really all that far off for us. Now I need to get cracking though... because the main garden is QUITE weedy. Need those babies gone soon - so as not to detract from the upcoming show.
