The First Damage Is Always The Hardest

Just got a new car. Last night I got home from church and my wife sheepishly said she needed to show me something. She scraped the curb with the front wheel and put a pretty good gouge in it. I felt bad for her. The first scratch, ding, dent, scrape, is always the most painful. I never care where I park my 95 Accord, yet I've yet to have any real damage done to it. New cars just make me nervous.

I agree. I had my new car for about six months and always parked far out hoping to avoid door dings. I was parked at the school and a dear friend cut the corner of the lane too short and clipped my rear bumper. She was so upset! I felt as bad for her as for myself!

I bought a new car in late Janurary. Two weeks after moving into our new house, I ripped the side mirror off pulling out of the garage. I haven't parked there since. I'm too scared to do it again.

This has been two years ago, but I had only had my Tucson 2 months and I hit a deer! Caused over $4,000 damage. Oh well. I do still own the Tucson though. The deer didn't have as good luck......

And that's why DW wont drive the new car until it gets the first ding. She didn't drive my truck for over a year when the dang shopping cart found my drivers side door. Dog gone Home Depot built on a hill.

About a month or so after getting my new Camry I backed into a parking spot and crushed in the rear bumper against a light pole. :guilty: Broke my heart -- I was truly devasted as this was my first real new car (other than a Hyundai I bought in the early 90's). A few months ago a drunk driver slammed into the car behind me, which pushed him into me. Destroyed my rear bumper, but no other damage. I got a new bumper and no one ever has to know I smashed it in first. Looks like new! :rotfl: I do still get a little upset at the door dings and such, but it can't stay new forever.

I think it is a rule Home Depots MUST be on a hill. I love trying to wrangle a big bag of potting soil into my car while trying to keep the buggy (we say buggy here in the south) from going down a hill.

First one hurts the worst. Back in 99 my then new truck got sideswipped by a wind blown cart at a Wal-Mart. Over $900 damage!! Some lazy bugger was too busy to put their cart in a corral.

Years ago I had my first new car in a long, long time and after 1 day, DW and DDs took it about 500 miles for a weekend horse show(which was fine). Two days later my brand new car comes back with 1000 miles on it, and a giant scratch on the passenger door. One of my DDs slammed into it with a golf cart at the horse show. I wasn't mad, but it was very disappointing.:sad1:
