I am VERY overweight (85 lbs) and I tried to do The firm today, cardio sculpt blaster, which is only a 30 min tape......i think i might have made it 7-8 mins into it before i couldnt breathe and thought i was gonna die....someone please tell me this happened to them and it will get better....Thanks

I have both the old and new and I can do the old but the new..FORGET IT..... I have had the new for a week now and after 10 min. I feel as if i am going to pass out. It is also very hard to keep up with. They change the moves so fast and constantly, I just cant keep up. This week I am going to take it slow and keep remote in hand and learn the moves first and then go at it full pace without the weights and arms for awhile. Hopefully in a couple of months I can build up to it and last the whole tape :rolleyes1 I have 55 lbs. more to lose. good luck :thumbsup2

You're not the only one! When I started The Firm (about 30 lbs ago) it was a struggle. I was in the same boat as you...about 80 lbs over weight and hadn't exercised in years so it was a shock to my system. I really wanted to do the workout though and when I was able to finish bits and pieces of it I felt really good - when I finally figured out a step combo for the first time I was practically ecstatic. The first couple of weeks I took it really slow...I'd just watch the routine, do what I could and marched in place and rewound a lot of the routines over and over until I got it right. Also, just to help my stamina and get some strength back, I'd take my dogs for long walks or would use the eliptical trainer at the gym for about 30 min and that seemed to really help my leg strength (which you're gonna need!). After a few weeks I got most of the tricky parts down and I now know the workouts by heart. Stick with it! Keep trying and you'll be so proud of yourself.

It will get easier as you do it. Just be consistant and keep working towards improving your stamina. The FIRM is what got me hooked on exercise! I have 40 something DVD's in all, so I have lots of the old and new. Some are harder than others. I remember dying when I first started. I kind of fell off the exercise band wagon and have been working on improving lately. Last night I did Super Body Sculpt with Stephanie. For a sculpting tape, I was sweating and tired by the end. It felt really good. At the end I finished with a walk around the block with my son.

Keep up the great work, it will get easier. Keep us updated!

I don't know if this will make you feel better or not, but here goes.... I am not really overweight at all and have always excersized regularly (either running or weight training), and when I got my first FIRM tapes I almost died!! The FIRM is one of the most intense work out videos I have ever used, and it takes some time to get used to the routines and intensity, but once you do it is definately worth it. I have seen more results with the firm toning videos than I have with anything else. Just keep at it, and take it slow until you get the hang of it.

Hi - I have been using the FIRM dvd's for about 4 months. It was a struggle at first, but when I got used to the steps and routines it became easier. I have seen the best results for me on this system. I use the DVD's along with the treadmill (walking) and I have lost 22 pounds. Good luck! It will get easier.

Just do a little bit at a time. Maybe start off just doing 10 minutes and then turn the whole thing off and then the next day do 15 minutes and so on. I really do love the FIRM tapes, but I know what you mean.....they can be very tough! I've just started doing the tapes again and I feel like I'm going to pass out at times. The good news is that is does get easier over time and the results are awesome. :thumbsup2

There are lots of Firm tapes to try just really learn the moves and take it slow, that way you won't get burnt out. Good luck.

Well, according to collagevideo.com and because I have that tape, too, :thumbsup2 it's classified as intermediate/advanced. It is very challenging so I can see why it may seem strenuous.

I think it's fine to start with an intermediate/advanced tape, but you need to make some changes to lower the intensity so you don't drop dead. ;)

You may want to look at www.collagevideo.com and visit www.videofitness.com to discuss Firming. There's also the YaYas/Firm Believers forum (the filter blocks the link so you'll need to search it) and you'll need to register first. Both the videofitness and firmbelivers websites have exercise rotations to keep you challenged.
