Before we get started I just wanted to say that this vacation is an exercise in me not trying to over plan things. I still know what I want to do, and approximately when, but I'm not putting it all down on a touringplan like I did last time. I think at F&WF I need to be a little more free with my plans... but only a little.
Day One- Prologue
My first day of vacation technically starts the evening before I'm in WDW. After a full day of sleeping in, at 6:10PM an airport shuttle is picking me up to wisk me away to the wonderful world of LAX airport. Have any of you ever been through LAX? It is a mad house, but will be less so for me since I'm skipping the whole parking thing and getting shuttled right to the Delta area. The Spouse is eternally grateful that he doesn't have to head upstream to LA to send me off, and has been slipping me trip money for the better part of a month as a thank you. Nothing major, $5 bucks here, $5 bucks there, but it all goes into my Welsh Dragon Appreciation fund.
So I'll head up to LA in a shuttle with who knows how many people, and my direct flight to MCO leaves at 10:00PM. I'll sleep (god willing) and head into:
Day One-"You've gotten how many hours of sleep?"
My plane lands at 6:12 AM and through the Magic of DME I'll be at POP at around...?? I'm not really sure. This all depends on AM Orlando traffic, DME, and whether or not god will be testing me that day. I do know that I left (hopefully) plenty of time to get to my first ADR of the trip:
Crystal Palace- breakfast @ 9:00.
The Magic Kingdome has EMH that morning, and while I will most likely get into the park before my ADR, I'm not thinking I'll get anything done. My greatest hope is to run and score a fastpass for something, that I can use after breakfast.
Now as for the Crystal Palace. I have eaten here, I just really don't know when. It was a long time ago in the dark age they call the eighties. No wait, I'm sorry, the neon fluorescent age they call the eighties. I love breakfast so much. What other meal in the day can you get served so many different types of pig? At the same time. I never eat breakfast in WDW though... until this trip. I have 3 days of F&WF booth snacking at lunch and as such have scheduled to my bacon loving heart no more than 5 breakfasts!! At Crystal Palace I am most looking forward to having them make me my own omelette while I watch. Yes you can get an omelette any old time but... I like to watch.
My plans for the Magic Kingdom that day aren't to expansive. I'd like to go on the Jungle Cruise (missed it last time), POTC, Country Bear Jamboree (bloooooooooooooooood on the saaaaaaddddllllllleeeeeee), and possibly BTMR. I know I won't do much because I'll have to head over to the Grand Floridian around 1:30 for my next ADR:
Gardenview Tea Room- tea time @ 2:10.
I am so excited for this. I didn't even know it existed until I started reading the Disboards. My Nana started me drinking tea when I was about 4. It's always been my favorite beverage (along with coffee, which I had to cut back on majorly). I only really drink tea (hot/cold) and love tea parties so this just an awesome idea for an ADR. I am aware that don't always give you a teapot, but I will be insisting on one. I plan to ask them what tea comes in a teapot because a french press has no place on a tea serving tablescape.
I don't know which tea service to get, so if anyone is reading this and has done a tea service at the GF please leave your opinions!
After tea I will be taxi-ing to the AKL, where I have my evening meal planned at Jiko. I want to catch the Jiko/Boma tour, so I'll have to call to confirm what time it is at (I've heard it can be at both 3:45 & 4). Then I'll tour around Jambo House, check out Kidani Village and get to my evening meal:
Jiko- dinner@ 6:20.
This is my most anticipated meal of the whole trip. The whole menu looks great to me and it will be very hard to pick an entree. I don't think I'm going to get the Oak-grilled Filet Mignon with Macaroni & Cheese and Red Wine Sauce. I know it's the signature meal, but I want to get something more... different. If anyone has any suggestions on appetizers and food here, please post with your opinions! I will eat anything except melons.
After this meal I'm sure I'll be more than ready to go to bed, so I'll head back to POP, check out my resort and probably pass out from exhaustion. It seems like a lot to do in one day (and it is) but since it's mostly just eating and wandering around hotels I think I'll be fine. That early morning burst of "OMGDISNEYWORLDMKGAHSOEXCITED!!!" will get me through until tea time, when I will relax and recharge and then surge on through to the evening.
Tomorrow- plans for day 2: The first day of EPCOT F&WF
Sounds like a great plan, Laura!
