The Feast of Fools! back from WDW- be on the look out for trip report

Your Animal Kingdom day sounds great. I can't wait to see what you think of breakfast at Boma. I have heard great things and am trying it in October myself.

I ate at Yak and Yeti in April and it was good -- sadly I did not have room for that fried wonton dessert, the reason I went there. Next time I am going just for dessert:thumbsup2

I guess your fear of birds, alligators/crocodiles, and fish does make enjoying AK a bit harder. And I guess you won't be taking my suggestion of seeing Flights of Wonder (the bird show -- one of my favorite things there):lmao: Definitely not something for those with a fear of feathered friends! I have a pet cockatiel and love birds so really love this show.

My fear on the other hand, would be riding Expedition Everest. Still can't bring myself to do it. The drop out of the mountain looks too scary :scared1: I absolutely hate drops, although I've heard it's actually not as bad as the drop on Splash since it curves and doesn't go straight down. So any words of encouragement to get me to try this would be appreciated:goodvibes Kali River Rapids is fun but don't ride unless you don't mind getting fairly wet. We rode in August twice in a row (they didn't even make us get off) and while we got wet the first time, after the second time I don't think I had an inch of dry clothing! Very fun though!

Day 4 plans sound great too! Hopefully you can get into Kouzzina. And Flying Fish, yum! I am going there in Oct as well, can't wait to hear your review. Oh, and the tequila tasting sounds great too:thumbsup2

Have I mentioned before how much I am looking forward to your review of the tequila tasting? ;)

And I will also be waiting with interest to see what you have to say about the Yaking Yeti ... :rotfl2: we have a lunch ADR there near the end of our trip because I really want to stop there for a couple of drinks. I'm hoping you can point us towards a couple of good appetizers. :thumbsup2

Your plans look very good! I am sure you will make it to AK for rope drop from Boma. I have stayed at AKL twice and always had wonderful bus service, especially going to AK was never a long wait. Also on the AKL FAQ threads on the resort board people generally comment on the good bus service at AKL... And once you are on a bus, it really is just a 5 minute ride. Oh, and one advise on buffet meals that I picked up here is: ask for your check early in the meal, so you don't have to wait around for it once you are done eating! :thumbsup2

And the Wall-E pictures are so cute! :goodvibes

I am terrified of drops too. I don't do Splash. I have NEVER ridden ToT. But I did screw my courage to that proverbial sticking point last October and went alone to AK early one morning. I walked over to Everest and just got in line. I managed to make it through the queue because of two young couples who were in line with me. One of the girls had been a CM on the ride from the beginning and was telling all about it. They encouraged me and gave me the surprise of my life. When we got to the seating area one of the young men stepped out of line and said: "You need to ride this with someone you know." He gave up his spot for me to ride with his wife! Anyway... the drops are there, but they are nothing like Splash, in my opinion.

Would I ride this attraction every single time I go to AK? Probably not. BUT I will ride it again which is more than I can say for Splash! ;)

You can do it! :goodvibes

Tell you what- you handle the birds, I'll handle the big drops.:thumbsup2 Expedition Everest is totally not that bad. You are very secure in your seat, and (to me anyway) it doesn't really feel like a drop. It's like a faster BTMR to me. I go on ToT all the time, even though that is the one ride that wigs me out, but I still do it. After the first time I'm all right. I think you can do Expedition Everest on some trip and you will be all right. And if not, they serve up stiff drinks at the Yak & Yeti to help you cool off afterwards.

I hope I can get a lot of things up before you leave. I'm thinking of doing a mini update with my thoughts on F&WF things for all the people leaving right after me, then delving into my wordy nerdness after that. I'm only back from WDW for 7 days, then I'm off again on the Cruise. (mmm tough life:rotfl:) We have a day at sea, so I know I'll be able to take some time to post things on the Dis. While you are all eating cake, I'll be wine tasting in Mexico.:thumbsup2

Thanks for the hint on the buffet. As I'm the first seating of the day I should get that check quickly, because my server could get sidetracked as the place picks up business. And I feel so much better about the bus at AKL now.:goodvibes

That is so sweet of that couple to help you out. I love how Disney can bring out the best in people.:grouphug:

Getting caught up again after missing a few updates while we were in WDW last week. :)

I'm no help on the AK - the thing we enjoyed most outside of the Lion King show was the bird show!

Love the new Wall-E photos. :)

Speaking of Wall-E, when we were at DHS on Saturday we had lunch at Sci-Fi and the couple seated into our back seat were young newlyweds who had complimenting shirts: his had Wall-E on the front and said "Eeeevvvaaaaa?" and said WALL-E on the back, and hers had Eve on the front and said "Wall-e?" Very cute. We were jealous. :)

I'm with you Elin.....I will not do Splash! ToT, BTMR, Space....no problem. I haven't done EE or RnR yet, but plan to do them next trip. But Splash....no way, no how, won't do it! That drop terrifies me!

Laura, all of your plans sound great, and I am so looking forward to reading all your reviews!

Those shirts sound darling. I could never get the Spouse to wear one though.

I think the worst part about Splash Mt's drop is it's just right there staring you in the face and you can listen to people scream on it all day. I used to be scared of it when I was younger.

Day Five- the booze-ining continues...

Depending on if I go to Jellyrolls the previous night or not, I really don't know when exactly I'll be getting up. But it will be early. I'm very good about shaking awake after a night of fun (ahh, youth!) And I'm super excited for my breakfast:

Akersus- breakfast @ 8:00.
I get to walk into EPCOT early! I know I won't be able to drag my feet or anything, but I'm sure I'll be able to get in at least one great Wall*E shot. The breakfast seems like pretty standard fare. I have heard good things about the cheesy potatos though. I'm just not clear on if the photograph they take is included in the price of the meal or not. If anyone knows, please let me know.

I am a bit of a girly-girl, so I do enjoy the princesses. Sleeping Beauty is my favorite so I hope she is there. I also hope my server is around to get my picture with her. The only downside of solo travel. I don't think I can trust Wall*E with the camera yet.

I don't know where they hold off the morning breakfast people for a Rope Drop type situation, but I'm not going to be making a mad dash for Soarin today. I figure I will have already gotten on that Friday, and we have it here in DCA so it's not a life or death thing for me. Infact on my last WDW trip I rode it 4 times in one day, only to see if I really could. With proper FP planning you too can go on any ride you want, multiple times.:thumbsup2

Today I must get in something that I haven't mentioned on my other EPCOT day posts- the World Showcase players. I am a fan of very silly things and nothing is sillier than these street actors. I watched the King Arthur one a lot of times on my last trip. Maybe 10 times?:rotfl2: It cracks me up so much. If you haven't ever seen it, get thee to the WS UK.

Lunch will be aquired by snacking around WS, my second day of doing so.

Wine Seminar- Greek Wines@ 2:00.
It's all Greek to me, so this should be interesting.

I get to Mono-hop to the Contemporary where I have another early dinner scheduled:

CA Grille- dinner@ 5:55.
So many food options- I am just overwhelmed. I don't know for sure if I'll get a california roll or not, because I can get some awesome ones here. I'd rather get something else. If anyone has any non sushi-ish type recommendations lay them on me. :worship:

Today will quite possibly be a Mono-rail bar hopping evening, depending on how the evening plays out. I might even go back to my hotel and hit up the Petal Pool bar or something. I might need at least one day where I'm not out of my room for 14 hours straight.

Next- plans for day 6: Magic Kingdom, more EPCOT and the king of Disney Breakfasts- Kona Cafe

More Wall*E:

I ain't afraid of no ghost.

Non-sushi suggestions for CA Grill?

Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli (so cheesy, so creamy, so need five of them not just one)

Flabtbreads ... have only tried one here so far but it was da bomb!

The cheese plate ... YUMMY!!!

Entree of choice ... pork tenderloin with goat cheese polenta (hold the shrooms); I actually only order this for the polenta and I'm thinking when we dine there next month that I may just ask for some polenta while trying something new for a change.

Jay has ordered their scallops before and said they were really good.

Dessert remains the one item where CA Grill doesn't impress us much, so I can't really recommend anything. We've yet to have a WOW dessert there.

I have to agree with Brenda on the flatbreads and the pork tenderloin. I however loved the pork as much as the polenta! But I really love lean pork! :thumbsup2

Otherwise, I guess it is difficult to recommend anything at CG as the menu changes so regularly, which to me is one of its appeals. :goodvibes

That's a shame that they dont' have a WOW dessert. I saw this on their menu and am thinking of getting it:

Blueberry & Lemon
Blueberry Clafoutis with Salted Blueberry Caramel Sauce, Lemon Sorbet,
and Pistachio Cookie

Salted Blueberry Caramel Sauce? Looks interesting.

So I guess the flatbreads are pretty good. I was thinking it was just like "oh, a bread with stuff on it"... I guess that would describe a pizza though, and I do like pizzas. The Pork tenderloin has me totally interested however. Mmmm piggy.

They used to have a dessert called "Banana Butterscotch Buzz" and I thought it was wonderful - if you like banana and butterscotch. :goodvibes It used to be their signature dessert until someone came around to make a boring creme brulee their signature dessert! :scared1: What can be signature about that :confused3

And you are on the right track: flatbreads are fancy pizzas! :thumbsup2 Oh and the pork is basted with whole grain mustard before it is grilled... :cloud9:

Actually, now that Flossbolna mentions it ... I do recall Jay ordering some banana-y butterscotch dessert last year and he really did like it. I don't like bananas for dessert unless they are flambee'd and called foster. :lmao:

I ordered CA Grill's cheese plate for my dessert with a BAM glass of port and was quite happy with that. :thumbsup2

Laura, I just remembered, that you really should not eat bananas... So since you would not eat a dessert with bananas and it is no longer on the menu, this picture is absolutely useless to you, but it was a very smart looking dish, so I hope you enjoy it anyway! :goodvibes

That dessert does look great, but yeah, banana give me hives.:headache::sad1: I'll just look at that picture though and think yummy thoughts.:lovestruc

Day Six- What to do when no F&WF events are booked

Today I will head out to what has been touted by some as the best breakfast place on property:

Kona Cafe- breakfast @ 7:30.
The sad thing? I can't eat the famed Tonga Toast, because I somehow developed an allergy to bananas this year. An allergy so bad that it hit me on the last day of my trip in January and I had crazy hives and I looked like the elephant man's ugly kid sister.

So what to get? Defidently a press-pot of 100% Kona goodness. I have many years of barista/coffehouse experiance, so even though I don't drink coffee every day anymore, I know to get the good stuff when I can. I'm leaning toward getting macadamia nut pancakes. I drink my coffee black, so this will probably balance things out.

The MK ropedrop is @ 9AM and I'm pretty sure I'll make it, since that leaves an hour and a half to eat, pay, and get to the park. I probably won't be standing front and center at my own turnstile, but that's OK. Nothing at the MK is that important to me because we have almost all of it in DL. (And better versions too:duck:)

I'll probably head to Fantasyland first. Peterpan, Pooh, Splash Mountain, BTMRR, Jungle Cruise, and I must see Country Bear Jamboree. Even if I see it on the other day that I have planned for MK, I friggin love this!

Funny diversion:

When "There Will Be Blood" was the big ho-ha, my brother and I kept refering to it as "There Will Be Blood... on the Saddle... and Blood on the Ground".:rotfl:

Sometime in the afternoon I'll head to EPCOT. I don't have lunch plans (again) so today will be F&WF booths day #3. I also haven't planned any events this day, so I'm thinking of checking out some of the free stuff: NY State Wine Adventure, History of Beer, and there's some Flavorhood thing where they tell you your icecream personality. It's sponsored by Edy's so I doubt I'll get the real answer- Cherry Garcia.:thumbsup2

Tokoy Dining- dinner@ 5:10.
Eating early once again. I did have Biergarten planned this night, but I changed it. I have never eaten here before and I saw there is a sushi/tempura combo on the dining plan. I love sushi and Japanese cooking. The pictures I saw online were pretty cool too. The restaurant looks really modern. I will miss the Biergarten, but I ate there last January, and Tokoyo Dining will be more like "dining" for me.

After dinner I'll do more F&WF browsing, check out some shops and then the highlight of the evening:

Jellyrolls! (note: I'm not allergic to dancing banans)

Next- plans for day 7: My last full day:sad1:

Wall*E showing off:

Dinner is served.

So at the New York State Wine Adventure, there's a place called Casa Larga. It's about 15 minutes from where I live. They make very tasty wines (and it's beautiful, if you ever find yourself in Rochester for some unknown reason, seriously...don't know why you would be here...but if you were, you should visit.) Last year they had their Ice Wine. I'm not a fan of Ice Wine, too sweet for me, but yeah, totally a decent place.

Btw, here's my review from February on Tokyo. http://disboards.com/showpost.php?p=30332542&postcount=42

And I went and checked the list of wineries. Dr. Frank's is supposed to be there. They're the king of Rieslings. Pretty much the reason why the grape is so big in this region is because of Dr. Frank. And now the Finger Lakes is one of the top regions for Rieslings in the World.

I read your review, thanks for pointing me to it.:goodvibes Where did you find the info on the NY State Wine adventure? I don't like very sweet food, but I don't mind sweet wines, so I'll have to try the Ice Wine if they have it.

ps- Have I ever told you how much I love your screenname? I start humming the song whenever I see one of your posts.:rotfl:

I'm here.. I'm here.. late but here. :)
We'll be at the World at the same time, but doesn't ever look like we'll be at the same places at the same time. Sept 25 - Oct 2
Kona - Check Oct 2
Flying Fish - Check Sept 26
Raglan Road - Check Oct 1
Kouzzuna - Check Sept 28
Noshing around Epcot- Check Sept 29 and Sept 30th

Oh and I was able to book Kouzzuna for our dinner just yesterday.
They finally have added it to the online reservation system :thumbsup2

I'll be on the lookout for a redhead hanging out with Wall-E though, just in case :cool2:
