Hello!

DIS Name: MooreDisneyPlease
Stateroom: confirmed but I don't know it right now
Names/Age(s) at sailing: Gregg (49), Diane (47), Houston (16), Garrett (16- he's not really ours, he's a stowaway/best friend to Houston), Hunter (19-he's on the fence right now about whether to go)
Where From: Fairfax, Virginia
Dining - late or early: Main seating
Celebrating: baker's dozen anniversary of our first DCL
Recipe Exchange: Y/N NO- you don't want my cooking!
Lanyards Y/N and how many: not sure yet
Fish Extender (FE): Y/N/Maybe Yes
Trick or Treat Scavenger Hunt: Y/N/Maybe no
If yes for scaveger hunt state the number of kids and/or if you are available to volunteer, and if you have any food allergies.

We're really looking for some families with the 18-21 kids to help us convince Hunter (or 19 y/o) to come with us-- he's always lead the charge onto the ship; it won't feel right without him!

Welcome to Disboards and the thread! I think there are a couple families traveling with kids your sons age. Maybe you can or they will contact you prior to the cruise.

This is only our 2nd cruise and I am thinking it would be easier to plan our days if I have an idea of what night's are pirate and formal night. Is that information available?

Your itinerary should have all that info, and if it does not, then call the cruise line they will have that for you,ask them to e mail it out.

Two more proofs guys, if we get a general concensus then we could set up a poll to vote for the favourite?

Another lanyard proof guys, I have also emailed them in the hope of taking advice from the professionals, so with any luck there will be more to come, I love this one but I think the dark orange and black writing would stand out more? All credit to disneyorbustcolorado for emailing them and getting this one done with the writing and mickey.

Is anyone else looking into Port Adventures through Disney yet? I know that we can not book for some time still, but there are so many choices it is overwhelming to me. Any suggestions? What is everyone else planning? I do have 2 young boys 6 & 8, so that limits things a little bit for me.

Share your thoughts & plans.

There is a tour in Grand Cayman where you go on a boat through the saltwater forest we are very interested in it looks very fun and informative I've seen pictures of children holding jellyfish over the side on it!

We are also looking at the ruins and discover Mexico museum in Cozumel I think maybe costa maya, cause that was the entire point of the cruise to see some ruins! And they have a party afterwards according to the description with piñata for my cousins. :)

We have swum with dolphins before so not overly keen on doing that again especially since two of us were very sick after! But I am looking into stingray/snorkelling excursions as well.

How about everyone else? :)

We would like to do the turtle farm in Grand Cayman. I would also like to do stingray city, but Georgia didn't enjoy snorkelling on Castaway Cay, so I don't know if it would be worth it. So it may be the turtle farm, maybe Hell and then explore the area.

We are going to Maya Chan at Costa Maya, a private beach. Maddiesmom posted it earlier in the thread, they are going as well. It looks nice on the website. All beverages and food included.

I also would like to see some ruins and I hope to do so in Cozumel. I would like to shop in cozumel and get some Mexican vanilla. I think it will make a good gift to bring home and it is so much cheaper than here.

Georgia really wanted to do a swim with the dolphins, but I have managed to talk her into a day at Sea World instead and we can feed the dolphins. I can get Sea World tickets with points and then I thought we could do the VIP tour.

We also considered the Saltwater Forest in Grand Cayman, but I think we are leaning toward the Pirate encounter. I think that at our boy's ages (6 & 8) they will really enjoy the Pirate encounter & it will be short & simple. We have no idea of what we are going to do on Costa Maya yet. We may just wing it. Then on Cozumel we would like to see some ruins. The Tulum ruins are the most fascinating but the travel time to get there is crazy. We initially thought that the Cozumel Ruins & beach tour might be nice but it got such bad reviews and only ranked a (3). People said that the ruins were not that interesting & they did not have enough time on the beach. opposite of that is the Fury Catamaran Sail Snorkel & Beach party. It ranked a (10) among people. So although I would like to see ruins, I also want to have fun. I have not made any decisions for sure yet, we are still looking into things. Can't wait to hear what some other people have in mind.

Where did you see the rankings? I would be interested in checking them out.

I also thought about going to Tulum or the Secret River, but the trip there does not seem pleasant. Also our Cozumel day is Halloween. We want to make sure we are back in time to take part in the festivities on the ship. We were looking at the ruins and Discover Mexico or the ruins and Cozumel Highlights, both involve a pinata, and one has tequila tasting:)

We did the Kohunlich ruins when we stopped at Costa Maya with another cruise line, and I can confirm that the trip is really long. I think it took at least an hour each way.

It was beautiful and fascinating once we got there, but I think it's a really long ride if you're going with kids.

Where did you see the rankings? I would be intereseted in checking them out.

There are detailed explanations of many of the excursions as well as rankings in the Passporter Travel guide books. I have the Passporter Disney Cruise Line book, but it does not include the Costa Maya port as that is new. The ships used to stop in Key West up until this year. You can find more information on their website at Passporter.com They reviews in the book are quite interesting to read. I'm not sure if some of that information is available on the website.

Thanks, I will need to have a look at the Passporter book. There are so many choices for shore excursions plus all the things you can do on your own.

I have seen a couple trip reports about the Fury excursion and most people seem to have loved it.

My boys really want to do just the ruins since we didn't really care for the other ports of call from our previous cruises. We've swum (is that even a word?) with the dolphins in Puerto Vallarta and like to do all our snorkeling at Castaway Cay. My boys will be 16 and 13 when we cruise so they like really adventurous stuff. We make look into some off-roading stuff if it's not too much money....

I just want to relax and not hike all over the place :cool2:
