The Fabby LapuLapuettes Part IV: My Pineapple Needs a Refill!

DS is getting to that point now, but the problem with him is that he'll still be tired. If we're home, it's not such a big deal, because he's not cranky or unruly, and we can play and everything. The problem is when he doesn't nap at my mom's on a day I work, and then falls asleep in the car on the way home. By then, it's late, he wakes up badly, and it's just a rough night for all.
Yes if she does take a napshe usually falls asleep in the car on the way home from running errands, then if I have to wake her up because it is getting late then you are right it does make for a bad night. She started not napping when I started staying home with her so it wasn't a big deal because she just wnt to bed earlier but there are some days that she just falls apart all morning and then those days I can get her to nap.

Oh, I know what you mean about when they fall apart. That's when that mama instinct just kicks in! :lmao:

I told my husband about you all being down there at the same time last night. And mentioned your daughter, too, I'm sure my son will be such a little flirt if we meet up.

I didn't know tht Sony has their own version, do you know if it's out yet? I love books but I really don't have the room to store them anymore. It's getting ridiculous. :headache:

I would assume that it's out already. I think they were hawking it for holiday sales. They had some kind of deal where you could get 10 free books or something. They had all these posters up with book titles with part of the name missing. If you texted the right answer to them you'd win 10 free downloads. They were all pretty easy too. Things like "The _____ Book", "_____ in Wonderland" and "Romeo and _______." There was one though that I could never figure out though and it drove me nuts. It was "The ------ Comedy". Missing part of the title had six letters. Anyone have any idea? I keep thinking it must be something really easy and well known but can't come up with anything.

I checked out the Sony website. It sounds like an amazing little machine. It's on my radar to say the least. I was going through their book lists and they seem to have tons and tons of books. :rolleyes1

I think our dear kiddos would love to meet. I haven't told my dh because he doesn't know the trip is booked. He doesn't think we can afford but since I am the one that pays the bills I know we can so I am paying for it slowly and will surprise him when the time is right. ;) He isn't even missing the money I have already put down. We don't use cc so we are paying for this before we go. This will also be our first family vacation that we take that we don;t go visit our families back east.

I may be showing my inner book geek, but isn't there a book entitled The Divine Comedy?

That's so sweet of you to surprise him. I have to hand it to you, I don't know how you can keep the secret! I'm always talking about our trip. Although technically, I haven't "told" DS yet, because he just wouldn't get the concept of eight months away. I think we told him about December in November, that way we would say, next month. And he would say, "I go Disney World in December." So probably in August we'll start with "I go Disney World in September."

Thank you! It has been driving me nuts for ages. I knew every other one of them, and was so bothered that I didn't know that one.

I will sleep much better tonight. ;)

Well I talk about going to Disney alot so he has no idea!!!!!!!!!:rotfl: His family never took vacations anywhere except to go visit family. My family always took a vacation somewhere. We almost always went to NH for a long weekend and went to Storyland and Santa's Villiage. We also went to PEI a couple of times, I could go on but the point I am trying to make is that our ideas of vacationing are different.

What a treat this will be for the three of you. You're going to enjoy it so much! :goodvibes

At this rate I don't think I'll be alone for another 16 years when Lexi leaves for college... There's always SOMEONE here!

The joy of a big family, my dear. :goodvibes Trust me, there are times when it's quiet, or if DS is sleeping over my parents and I think wow...maybe we should have another one. I don't know if I'm done. :lmao:

No way I can catch up on the thread over the last few days, so I'll just CONVENIENTLY jump in on the Twilight talk... Lucky me! :rotfl:

Kyle has read all four books, over and over and over- he wants to be Edward and find a Bella- it's so dang sweet, really. He's even trying to BEHAVE as Edward does now... It's pretty endearing.

Awwww he's so cute, it's just a shame that we live on different continents as Becci is madly in lurve with Edward and now that she's dyed her hair back to dark brown she is rocking the Bella vibe alot more:lmao:

I've just heard that Twilight will be out on dvd in the US on 21Mar but no word on the UK release date:sad2: not fair.

BTW LL your apartment sound phenominal and such a good plus that you can change to a two bedroom when the need arises:thumbsup2

That's what I have heard about Twilight, but it seems odd since it's a Saturday and generally new DVD releases come out on Tuesdays. :confused3
Thanks, 2SP. I am very excited to move!

I was going to point that out too but thought better of it. :rotfl:

Honestly though, if she has handled everything in the first three, I think the fourth will be fine too.

Maybe she will take a long time to read the other two...although today she had her nose stuck in her book during class and when I handed out a test she said, "Mom, could you have picked a worse time??? Victoria is about to..." :lmao:

Such things go against my need for order, so I dragged the 20+ albums home with me and have been pulling them all out of the albums so I can put them in chronological order and put them back in order. (Minus all the duplicates). I don't think I adequately realized how horrible and time consuming this would be. Especially as my mother never wrote dates on the back of any of the photos. I feel like a detective trying to figure out what year pictures were taken by things in the background, and by hairdos.

Wow! I can't believe that you undertook that project! Want to do mine next? ;)

That is so adorable!

Oh pish posh! I've read them all! Actually, I've read almost all of Anne Rice's books, period. Except the...ahem...racy ones. :lmao: Right now I'm starting Christ the Lord Out of Egypt. I'll let you all know what I think.

That's right -- I remember having that conversation now.

I would let her read it as long as you're prepared to have a really open dialogue about its contents. You strike me as that kind of a mom though, so I don't think it should be an issue. Honestly, when I was Chelsea's age, I was just starting to get into Michael Chricton novels, and those were pretty explicit in certain parts.

We do have those frank conversations -- I have always vowed to never really censor my children's reading, but there is a part of me that thinks Breaking Dawn has some moments.

Would it still be censorship if I glue the pages together??? :rotfl:

I loved how they tied it all together.

Ha! I know what you mean, parts are very graphic.

This just reminds me of when I was in middle school, I think 7th or 8th grade. We had gone to our summer cabin for the week and on day 2, I had already finished my three books that I brought with me. I bugged my mom for 2 days to let me read one of her Danielle Steele books. So she goes okay. She picked one out to let me read. Well I read it, I was fine. So she's reading another one at the time and goes, I think this is a bit much for you. You'll have to make do with no books. Fine by me. She starts reading the one I had already read. Apparently she had forgotten what it was about. I'll never forget her face and she goes, "I should get the bad parent of the year award for letting you read this." Then we got into what seemed a 5 hour discussion of the book. Needless to say after that, I was able to read the other DS book she thought was unacceptable. :rotfl:

I remember raising an eyebrow and thinking about all my students who had read it before me.

I have a similar story to relate from this weekend about Chelsea and a book that she started reading before me, but I will have to wait until this evening. Art club is almost over, and I am headed home! :thumbsup2

This just made me laugh. I remember sneaking my mom's books off her shelves to read so she wouldn't know. :lmao: I thought I was so smooth! Not that it really mattered. I remember when I was in about 7th or 8th grade and my friends' and I would all be whispering about the Judy Blume's "Forever". At the time it was such risque reading.

OH, you are bringing back some memories! Judy Blume did so many of those coming of age books!
