The Fabby LapuLapuettes Part IV: My Pineapple Needs a Refill!

I thought of you while I was reading it. It's all in letter form, which kinda turned me off but I loved it. I literally just held the book to my chest when I finished it and just beamed. It's lovely and wonderful.

Awwww! :goodvibes It sounds delightful. I wonder if my book club would read it.

That was the last time I was on this morning -- today was crazy teaching day.

That's alright! :goodvibes

Lapuettes, I just finished one of the best books ever. I started it yesterday and came home from work and camped out on the couch reading, I couldn't put it down.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.

Interesting title! I'll have to check it out.

TK --- The kindle is an electronic reading device where you can download full books onto it and store them on there. You can also download magazines, newspapers and even blogs.

Wow, that would be so neat. Does it have some kind of backup system as well? That would be my only fear, losing everything I'd downloaded.

I have been on a book binge lately -- I read two books this weekend alone.

Me, too. I have been devouring books lately. I don't know what's wrong with me, but I finished Anne Rice's Blood Canticle in two days. :lmao:

Good morning, Lapuettes!

How quickly my weekend races by! I can't believe it's Tuesday again. One of the reasons that I'm excited about going to work tomorrow though is that I can put in all my PTO requests for next year, which means I get to request my Sept / Oct vacation! WOO HOO! Once that gets approved (shouldn't be an issue), I'll feel so much better. :thumbsup2

Off to get ready to take DS to preschool. I had planned on coming home, but I think I may have a little grocery shopping in my future. Don't you hate when basic necessities like food get in the way of possible DIS time? ;)

Good morning Lapuettes!

Oh how I would love to just curl up with a book today! Alas, it cannot be...I have much, much cleaning up to do in this house. The realtor is coming Thursday and it needs to be picture-ready, which is not a normal state of being around here with three boys. Blar....

So are all my fellow New Englanders ready for this cold snap?!! This weather is insane. My little escape to Florida next week will be well-timed!

Gotta run....Have a great day!

Good luck with all the cleaning! And just think, soon enough you'll be basking the warmth of the Florida sun...

and we'll all be so jealous. :lmao:

Had you not read that one yet? If you haven't read The Witching Hour books, you should do that before reading the rest of Rice's vampire books as it will give you some much needed background...just sayin'...:rolleyes1

I would love to curl up with a book today, too. Apparently so would Chelsea -- she started New Moon last night and is already on page 230. :rotfl:

Lapuettes, what am I going to do when Chelsea finishes Eclipse and wants to read Breaking Dawn??? Do you all think it's too rich for a sixth grader's blood???

I think it will be fine, CP. I think if she's handled the other three books well, then Breaking Dawn should be fine. :goodvibes

Good Morning Everyone!

Good Morning Everyone!

If she gets through all of the first three, I don't know how I could make her wait two years to read the last one. That seems unspeakably cruel to me. :lmao:

I was going to point that out too but thought better of it. :rotfl:

Honestly though, if she has handled everything in the first three, I think the fourth will be fine too.

Good morning Lapuettes! I hope everyone is nice and toasty someplace inside where it's warm. It is just way too cold out there today. I just know that I'm going to get a call from my mom today rubbing it in about how warm it is down in Florida.

I've been staying up way too late at night organizing my parents old photos. I had to return all the ones I had pulled to make their Christmas Heritage book and realized that they were a complete mess. Nothing was in order, and there were duplicates of pictures scattered throughout multiple albums. You'd be looking through books from when I was a little kid, and stuck in the middle would be a picture of one of my nieces.

Such things go against my need for order, so I dragged the 20+ albums home with me and have been pulling them all out of the albums so I can put them in chronological order and put them back in order. (Minus all the duplicates). I don't think I adequately realized how horrible and time consuming this would be. Especially as my mother never wrote dates on the back of any of the photos. I feel like a detective trying to figure out what year pictures were taken by things in the background, and by hairdos.

At least I'm just about done with this part. I'm down to 3 little piles of pictures I can't quite identify the years. Two I know are from sometime in the 80's and the other is a little partial pile of pictures from Walt Disney World. I've pretty much determined that it's from after 1994 because Tower of Terror is there, and from before 2000 because there is no wand on Epcot. I'm pretty sure too, that it's from before 1997 because my parents are staying at Dixie Landings, and I know when I went with them in 1997 to Disney my mom had been saying that she liked POFQ so much better. So that leaves me a 3 year window which isn't bad right? It's just weird that there are only pics from the resort, Epcot and MGM. No MK. I keep thinking I'm missing some.

LL I haven't seen the Kindle yet, but last month in Grand Central the people from Sony were out there every day demonstrating their version the Sony Reader. It looked much smaller than I would have expected. Not quite as large as a regular sized hardcover. Probably closer to a slightly larger paperback novel in height, but a normal width. I love the idea, but I don't know if I could ever give up paper books. There is just something I love about the smell of new books, and the feel of the paper.

No way I can catch up on the thread over the last few days, so I'll just CONVENIENTLY jump in on the Twilight talk... Lucky me! :rotfl:

Kyle has read all four books, over and over and over- he wants to be Edward and find a Bella- it's so dang sweet, really. He's even trying to BEHAVE as Edward does now... It's pretty endearing.

What a good daughter you are!!! It sounds like you are pretty good at your detective work too figuring out when the pictures are from. :thumbsup2

I didn't know tht Sony has their own version, do you know if it's out yet? I love books but I really don't have the room to store them anymore. It's getting ridiculous. :headache:

Okay, that is just too cute. :cutie:

OK I am getting exactly DIDDLY-SQUAT done today!!!!.....all because they keep playing AK music on my Live365 station and I can only hear it in the main part of the house! I need to be working in the basement!! It absolutely is just too cold outside today and this music is taking me to my Happy Place...and I don't wanna leave!:rotfl:

Oh pish posh! I've read them all! Actually, I've read almost all of Anne Rice's books, period. Except the...ahem...racy ones. :lmao: Right now I'm starting Christ the Lord Out of Egypt. I'll let you all know what I think.

I would let her read it as long as you're prepared to have a really open dialogue about its contents. You strike me as that kind of a mom though, so I don't think it should be an issue. Honestly, when I was Chelsea's age, I was just starting to get into Michael Chricton novels, and those were pretty explicit in certain parts.

That is so sweet!!! :goodvibes

And Wings, wow, on the organization! :thumbsup2

GUYS...

I'M HOME ALONE!!!!

I've got about another half hour to 45 minutes before I need to pick up my little nut from preschool. Boy is my place quiet right now. :lmao:

That reminds me, I should turn that on while no one's hear watching TV, playing video games... :thumbsup2

It's strange at first, isn't it? Even this year when DD7 started first grade it was weird to have it quiet ALL day. Now I love it! But I'm still always happy when they come home.

It is so weird. I'm not used to a house that's not full of little boy energy. I mean, we have nap time, but even that's starting to go away, you know?

TK you are so lucky to have nap time. My dd stopped taking naps pretty much when she turned 2. Sometimes I can get her to take a nap but then she stays up really late at night. I will put her to bed but she just lays in bed and talks to herself or plays with her animals.

DS is getting to that point now, but the problem with him is that he'll still be tired. If we're home, it's not such a big deal, because he's not cranky or unruly, and we can play and everything. The problem is when he doesn't nap at my mom's on a day I work, and then falls asleep in the car on the way home. By then, it's late, he wakes up badly, and it's just a rough night for all.
