The Fabby LapuLapuettes Part IV: My Pineapple Needs a Refill!

That is such a great idea to do the labels!!! I will have to remember that -- I usually just write names on the cups with sharpies!

Thanks. :goodvibes I just can't find any Monsters, Inc stuff since the movie is older, so I had to make my own!

Aren't they great!?!? I love Agent Pendergast, too! I had an actor picked out for movie versions, but now I can't remember who it was. I shall have to think about that. I really need to read the latest one -- Wheel of Darkness -- some of those were so gruesome though -- gave me the heeby-jeebies.

I still need to track down a copy of From Dead to Worse on the Sookie books.

Oh, I wish I knew who the actor was. Let me know if you think of it. I have a very definite picture of him in my head, that's for sure. I have to tell you, I was reading The Book of the Dead (I've gone out of order, not realizing there was one) and I was reading this at work. Well, one of my co-workers opened the door to the back area, where I was, and I just wasn't expecting anyone then, so I about jumped out my skin! :lmao: It was funny, but I seriously had to stop reading at that point, and finish my lunch without the benefit of the very scary, very descriptive chapter.

Hey guys. I'm not going to be on that much for the next couple of days. DH has a huge amount of mandatory overtime (a big job came in) at work, so he won't be home until after 800 for the rest of the week.

Oh, yeah, and they asked him to work Saturday.

Our son's fourth birthday.

Color me frustrated. I'm hoping they'll be able to get everything done and he won't have to go in, especially since I took the day off. Ah well. Our family party is on Sunday, and I ran around today getting prepared for that after work. I have a few last minute items, and we're good to go.

DS asked for a monster party, so I'm making his cake, decor, all themed towards monsters / Monsters Inc.

And to ice the cake so to speak, DH and I have both come down with what DS had. So we're tired, working a lot, and sick. Fun is in the TK household.

Lara, so great to hear from you from the World!

I hope everyone else has a much less hectic, healthier week than we are! :goodvibes

I hope that your dh will be able to have Sat. off. I hope you take pictures for us. Alexia goes through phases when she will only watch 1 or 2 movies and right now Monsters Inc. is one of them. I hope you and your dh feel better for your party.

I still need to track down a copy of From Dead to Worse on the Sookie books.
I can mail you my copy if you want.

Good Morning Lapuettes!!! Is it time for spring yet or what!?! Stupid cold weather.

I hear you LL. I shouldn't complain because we are going to have a few days of spring weather but then it will get cold again. I wish it would just saty warm of snow. Alexia is so ready to go outside and play.

It's supposed to be in the mid to upper 40's this weekend and it's sad that I am excited about that! :rotfl2:

Hi everyone! Hope everyone is hanging in there and keeping warm. It's just brutal outside around here today. My day got off to a bang up start when my train was nearly an hour late. :sad2: My toes were going numb standing on the train platform.

I'm a bit tired today. I went to see the play "Equus" after work on Tuesday and still haven't recovered. It was an excellent play though, worth a little sleepiness. Dan Radcliffe and Richard Griffins from the Harry Potter movies were in it, along with Kate Mulgrew. My new year's resolution to myself was to see a new play or show every month. It doesn't have to necessarily be a Broadway play, just a show of some kind. I'm having fun deceiding what to see next. My first two this year have been pretty heavy serious plays, so I'm leaning towards a musical for my next one. Either the new Elton John one, or the revival of "Hair" that's going to be opening soon.

TK, hope everyone is feeling better around your place soon. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you that your hubby doesn't have to end up working on Saturday. :)

That's like a heat wave! Watch you'll be seeing people wandering around in shorts and short sleeves. Down here in CT, they actually mentioned 50! I wanted to do a little Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy dance. I was supposed to work on Sunday afternoon, but my shift got cut from my part time job. :cool1: I'm not happy about the loss of hours, but if it's going to be that nice I'm excited.

Is that the one with a naked Daniel Radcliffe? :scared:

Yes, there was one scene at the end where he was bare. It's going to be a bit disconcerting the next time I watch Harry Potter now. :rotfl:

I've seen some pics of him when he was posing naked (but they added a star or something over his stuff). I bet he didn't have a star over his stuff in the play!!!

DD9 is in LOVE with Harry and it just seems so wrong to me now. :rotfl2:

She always wants me to print out pics from the internet and I can't even look through them with her! :faint:

:rotfl2: Nope, no stars! :rotfl:

I don't blame you that would be a bit weird. :) I have to admit, he's in pretty good shape. I just feel a bit like a leacherous old lady again for noticing. :rotfl2: And really the most striking eyes.

Ugghhh, sorry to hear that Megan missed out on school again today. It was something crazy like 16 degrees when we got up this morning, but all we got was some swirling snowflakes that looked pretty, but didn't stick. Sigh. I am over wishing for snow -- I just want warm weather again.

Can't wait for you to start a PTR, Jen! That will be the icing on my cake of PTRs!!! :goodvibes

Jackie---you are too sweet!!! I will be your icing any day!!!! I have to say that I am starting to go into a little PTR/TR withdrawal---so many things that I want to say already---it will surely start rocking and rolling right off the bat once it gets started!!!!

I can not wait for your ptr to begin. I really enjoyed your last one.

I am so glad you enjoyed the last one---really SO sweet of you to say that!!! You guys just made my day!!! I had SO much fun writing it, that I can't wait to start this next one!

I've actually made my own label / stickers with Mike and Sully, and then one with just Boo (dressed as a monster of course) and then I'm going to attach these to our plastic cups. I've made a few signs for around the house, as well. It's actually been fun.

That is a GREAT idea!!! I am sure everything is going to turn out so well for the party!!! I am sure HRH is getting SO excited!!!

Good Morning Lapuettes!!! Is it time for spring yet or what!?! Stupid cold weather.

Did someone say SPRING!?!?!?!?!? Where, WHERE, WHERE!?!?!?!?!? I am so desperate for some warm weather---the mere mention of it got me all excited!!! :goodvibes

That's like a heat wave! Watch you'll be seeing people wandering around in shorts and short sleeves.

Yeah.....the guy wearing shorts and short sleeves in 0 degree weather.....yeah, that would be Tom!!! He says it is because he is Italian, but he has an internal oven that keeps him warm all year round. It is nice for when my feet are frozen over in the middle of the night, but I know he gets strange looks when he is out shoveling snow in short sleeves!!!!!

:rotfl2: Nope, no stars! :rotfl:

Really.....the EYES...that was what was "striking" Crissy?!?!?!? Hee hee hee!!! :rotfl2:

Day 2, Jan. 22 DHS

We got up, raring to go and were out the door at 8 a.m. I swear our shower was infused with something invigorating, it was like a miracle shower! We wanted to be at rope drop so we could head to TSMM first thing, that was the focus, so we had nothing to eat that morning (first mistake of the day).

We had a very short wait for the bus, and had a wonderful driver, Salvatore. He asked us trivia questions and got us all singing. If only all the drivers could have been like that!

It was cold! We were in our long pants, long sleeves, warmest coats and gloves. My, oh my, not the Florida weather I was hoping for by any means. We had to wait for park opening, so we used the time to get our 1st Visit buttons, which I’m very glad we did. We saw the opening show and headed right for TSMM after rope drop (along with everyone else).

IMG_3756.jpg

As we were starting to walk, I heard voices behind us saying hi…it was my DISfriend's family! They had been right by us since we entered the park! We didn’t really have time to chat, as we were all on a mission! We got into the line for TSMM, and walked through a lot of the line.

IMG_3757.jpg

I actually wished we had been able to take more time in line so I could take more photos. I loved the movies, and the queue is an excellent match to the movies. I did get a few pics as we were walking. As we came up to a CM, she told us to come up the ramp where no one else was. Okay? I didn’t really realize what had happened until I saw that we had skipped a ton of the line! DH said she saw our 1st Visit buttons and had whisked us into the accessible area. It saved us a LOT of time! Thank you nice CM! But that meant we got separated from DISfriend and her family, but we knew we had plans to meet up at Mama Melrose’s and watch Fantasmic! together.

After TSMM, we got fastpasses for later and then headed for RNRC.

IMG_3769.jpg

I was so incredibly excited for this ride! DD9 wasn’t so sure. I thought she would go on it, but nope. By the time we go up to the loading area, she was in tears. Tears of frustration mostly I think. She wanted to do it, but she just couldn’t make herself. She was very worried about it going upside down and/or someone throwing up. I ran into the first snotty CM of the trip right here. There had been a bunch of people in front of us in line that didn’t speak English, which must be very frustrating when you work at Disney, but still. We got up to the CM and she saw that DD9 was upset and said very snottily to me, “I can’t put her on the ride if she doesn’t want to go!” before I even had a chance to explain that we needed to do a child swap. She pawned us off on another (much nicer) CM who took us through the chicken exit and into the gift shop to wait for DH and DD7. DD7 said she loved the ride, but didn’t want to ride again with me. So I got to ride my first Disney roller coaster with some random stranger who wasn’t exactly 100% enthusiastic about being there.

RNRC was much more of a ride than I thought it would be. I knew about the acceleration but the rest was great, too! I loved it, but it would have been so much better if we didn’t have the circumstances before hand and had all ridden together. At this point I was very concerned that DD9 wouldn’t go on ANY big rides all week.

On the way back from RNRC we shopped at the Villain store (DD9 bought a Maleficent dragon and DD7 bought the choose-your-own bulk $47.83 per pound M&Ms). We were all a little cranky and decided we needed food, although it was after 10 a.m. and I hoped we could just wait until lunchtime. But once DD7 had those M&Ms there was no stopping her! We headed over toward the Great Movie Ride, thinking it would be good for calming DD9 down, but bummer. It was closed temporarily. We had fun looking at the handprints in the sidewalk. Okay, remember when you were a kid and your parents would try to explain who celebrities were from back in their day? That was us. And just like when I was a kid, the younger generation didn’t care at all.

We got in line at Pizza Planet and who should be in front of us in line? DISfriend and her family! The kids had a good time while waiting for our turn, which took a long time. Who would have thought that the line would move so slowly at 11 a.m.?

After a mediocre lunch, we decided to do MuppetVision 3D. We all love the Muppets (even the younger generation)! We were waiting in the lobby, and someone pushed into me and very rudely said, “Excuse me lady!” It was my friend BFF (and her family) from home! We weren’t traveling together, just at the same time, hoping to spend a little time together while we were there. The girls were so excited to see their friends!

IMG_3789.jpg

My favorite part of the movie was listening to BFF laugh. She has a great laugh. Next we all went to Lights, Motors, Action! together. DH and BFF’s husband were so happy about this. While in line for it, a wonderful stranger with the biggest pin collection I had ever seen traded pins with all the kids over and over again. That really made the time pass quickly for them. While we were in the stands waiting for the show to start, DD7 pulled out her M&Ms and offered them to her friends. BFF’s younger daughter took a great big handful out of DD7’s bag and stuffed them all in her mouth at once! BFF was appalled, but it was hilarious!

IMG_3808.jpg

After the show we parted ways, and we did Star Tours and then headed off to a supposed Snowbird (January thread) Meet. DISfriend and her family were the only ones there! We gave up, and my family headed for TSMM to use our fastpasses.

We had a Fantasmic! dinner package ADR at 4:00 at Mama Melrose’s. By this point I was ready to get the heck away from the crowds! I thought it seemed extremely busy at HS. It was also extremely busy at Mama Melrose’s! That lobby area is tiny and LOUD, but once we were seated, I thought the ambiance was nice. My food was average, DH liked his a lot.

We got to our Fantasmic! seats a little after 6. I was worried that there wouldn’t be any room, but the reserved section wasn’t very full at all. We noticed on our way into the theater that they had added another show later that night. The Powers That Be must have thought the park was full, too! DISfriend called and we told her where we were. We had a nice time during our wait, although DH didn’t talk to them at all! He was at one end and DISfriend's husband was on the other end, separated by the kids and the women. I guess he never really had a chance! But in my opinion, he should have moved down and at least tried to be social. DISfriend and her boys had presents for my girls, and to this day I feel really bad that I didn’t have anything for them. My plans in that department just didn’t work out because I couldn’t find what I needed to make their gifts. If I ever see what I need, I’ll be sending them to her boys!

Fantasmic! was impressive, I’m really glad we saw it. Afterward, DD7 said, “This was the best day ever!” We were back to the resort right around 8 p.m.

Our mistakes today included: not eating breakfast, not having a written out plan (just a vague one), we didn’t meet any characters (including Mater, my fave), and although this wasn’t our fault, the park was busy!!!

Another great Disney Day, Trixie!! Even though you had a few mistakes, it seems that you picked up on them quickly. We ALL make mistakes, no matter what # trip it is we are on. :goodvibes

I'm trying to be good...this is a family board. :rotfl2:

I know---but I just couldn't contain myself!!!! ;o)

I concur!!! What a great day---even if DHS was busy, sounds like you still had fun! I also agree with LL---even though I have been there quite a bit, I still have days where I stop and think "Why did we do that?!?!?!?!"----remember our lunch at Pizza Planet from my TR?!?!?!? Can't wait for more!

Day 3 Animal Kingdom

Based upon our experiences at DHS, I decided to write out a very detailed plan for Animal Kingdom. In fact, DH asked me to! The man who didn’t even want to go wanted to make sure we got lots done! Woo-hoo! :cheer2:

I had planned on doing that before we left home…I’d even subscribed to Touring Plans and learned a lot, but DH and DD7 never wanted to talk plans. DD9 would have spent hours doing it, but I needed to take everyone’s desires into account. And I knew they would have them after we arrived! Helpful, huh? :upsidedow

So I wrote out 2 plans, both from The Complete Walt Disney World 2009 and The Unofficial Guide. We decided the UG plan was more of what we wanted to do, so we went with that for the most part. DH felt much better when I had a piece of paper to refer to instead of just my frazzled brain.

IMG_3945.jpg

We had an 8:05 ADR at Tusker House and I think we all loved it! Gotta love that juice and they had a potato-leek frittata that was to die for! The girls loved all the pastries, especially the extremely simple glazed doughnuts.

BFF and her family were there about 30 minutes after us, and we were hoping to take some pics of the kids together with the characters if possible. It just didn’t work. They were in the other seating room and when we were done, the characters seemed to be taking a break. So we took some pics of just the kids in the restaurant and headed out.

First on the agenda…fastpasses for EE. DH ran all the way over there while the girls got their faces painted. This was something they’d wanted to do since they saw CP’s TR months ago. I was amazed how quickly they were done. It was like I took one pic of DD9, walked over to DD7’s chair, took a pic, walked back over to DD9 and she was pretty much done! Amazingly fast. We took some pics of their beautiful faces because we ended up having to wait for DH! He was absolutely flabbergasted when he came back~that we were already done and that the painting looked so cool.

We went against the UG plan and did the Safari first. It was very important to the girls, and we wanted to do it more than once. They were not disappointed, even though we had seen so many animals at the resort. It was fun.

IMG_3928.jpg

Next up was Primeval Whirl. We thought DD9 could handle it as it is basically just a carnival roller coaster. I had her all convinced she could do it when some obnoxious boys behind us in the non-existent line said they hoped they wouldn’t throw up on the ride. That was it, she was done. No way was she going. So DD7 and I went on it and DH stayed with DD9 on a bench on the platform , which was really nice, because by the time we got off, DD9 was ready to do it! So all four of us got right back on. Yay! She LOVED it! Thank goodness. I had hope for all of us going on the rides again!

We went to see It’s Tough To Be A Bug after that. As we were walking into the theater from the “lobby” area, I heard someone calling my name. It wasn’t a voice I recognized so I wasn’t sure I was really hearing what I thought I was hearing. I finally turned to look and Shelly’s boys were fighting through the crowd to come by us. So cute! I didn’t love ITTBAB, but seeing it with friends made it better). :goodvibes

But what came next I absolutely hated and it’s name was Dinosaur. Yuck. Dark and loud and bumpy. Ugh. Never again.

What would raise my spirits after Dinosaur? Expedition Everest. Loved, loved, loved it! It was way better than I had imagined. And guess who rode it? All four of us! I don’t know where DD9 dug up the strength to do it, but she found it. And she loved it, too! I think it was a lot for DD7, but she even liked it.

We ate lunch at Yak-n-Yeti counter service. Meh. DH’s honey chicken was better than the beef dish that I had.

After lunch we went on the safari again and thought it was so funny that we had the same driver as early this morning. She was much more full of pep for this adventure! Then we headed down the Pagani Forest Trail to visit the Naked Mole Rats that DD9 had to see. On the way, I got to see my very favorite animal on the face of the planet…the Okapi!

IMG_4036.jpg

We then settled into a spot on the bridge between Africa and Camp Minnie-Mickey for the parade. This was, of course, my first Disney parade, but I really liked it. The girls and DH did as well. Pay special attention to this first pic. It will come into play on our next AK day.

When the parade was over we rode Everest again and then took our time exiting the park. It’s so beautiful there, definitely our favorite park thus far. Bye-bye safari friends!

IMG_4132.jpg

Our dinner ADR was at Cape May Café at around 7 pm. Not the most convenient for an exhausted family with two girls that want to go swimming (even though it wasn’t very warm). We decided on the bus back to the resort to try to get into Boma around 7:30 instead. Bingo! Everyone was happy…except me whilst sitting by the pool. I was absolutely freezing. I had to get my babies out of the pool and go inside!

We had originally decided not to eat at Boma for dinner. I hadn’t heard wonderful things and in the pictures I’ve seen, the food always looks all the same color. Biergarten seems that way, too. But it was just so convenient, it was hard to resist. And we thought it was okay. Our server was bad, and our table was in a horrible spot with almost no lighting. But those zebra domes made it so worth it! NOM!

All of us felt like this was a great day, other than being tired. Getting the girls to sleep was no problem and I was sleeping by 10 p.m. which is absolutely unheard of! It was a much smoother day than DHS the day before and we were looking forward to another great day at AK in a few days.

This is probably a silly question....but did you add that leave border or is that real leaves framing your photo?? Either way they look gorgeous! Beautiful pic.

Not that your DHS day was horrible but you can tell that you enjoyed this AK day much more. I am so glad that you found what worked for all of you. :goodvibes

Those are real leaves! Can you believe it??? The light was just perfect.

But for the record, I didn't take that photo, DH did.

Anyway, I took 1247 pictures, and he took 1. This was the one. :sad2:
