DH and I are dining here for the first time in 2 weeks! I really want to take pictures inside the restaurant. I do not have a ton of photography experience. Should I leave the flash on auto or shut it off? I don't want to disturb other diners but I really want to capture this experience. Any other photography hints would be appreciated!

Not certain if your in the main dining room or QV room, but when dined in QV room we were encouraged by our server to please take pictures. Of course it was w/o flash and the pics came out good enough.

This is good to know! We'll be dining in the QV room soon and I was wondering about taking pictures.

Please turn your flash off. I completely understand wanting pictures (I proposed their and had the waiter take pictures). It's just very rude to use a flash in a restaurant like Victoria and Albert's. Pictures yes. Flash no thank you.
Enjoy your meal :)

Just wanted to chime in here and say that DH and I had an outstanding meal and experience at V&A's on July 27th! Actually, outstanding isn't a strong enough word to describe how wonderful our dinner was there. I don't think there is an appropriate word, haha! It was the best meal we ever had in our entire lives for sure. Every last detail was perfect, and we were impressed with the vacuum press coffee service at the end of the meal. We tried foods like quail and pheasant for the first time and we really enjoyed everything. We ate in the main dining room and we were so stuffed by the end that we couldn't finish our hawaiian Kona chocolate soufflés! And believe me, we sure tried. We did the wine pairings, the service was exceptional, like no other service we've ever had anywhere including some fine restaurants in Manhattan. We were very impressed. This was our 4th family trip to WDW and the first time we had a date night and the kids enjoyed the Sandcastle Club at the BC Resort (chose that one since it's close to where we stay BWV).

We were also lucky because as of August 1st, V&A's no longer takes the TIW card. We are so glad we were able to use it there on this trip, but full price would have been fine too for our experience there! I highly recommend V&A's to everyone I know, I think everyone should experience it at least once if they can! So glad we went, and DH thanked me a million times since that evening for making him bring a sport jacket on our July Florida vacation...this was almost a deal breaker for him until I convinced him based on what some very friendly people said here on the DIS about it being more than worth it...thank you to those people as well! :)

Hey Bonnie! I've missed you on Alicia's TRs and your own, but I'm glad to hear that you two have been still vacationing in WDW and the boys are getting old enough to let you enjoy a date night! V&A's is definitely a special experience. We've enjoyed it a few times and I'm glad you and your DH were able to have a great time and meal there! Stop by any of our TRs sometime. We miss you!

Hello!!! I've missed you too! Guess what? We're in the early planning stages of Southern California and Disneyland for next summer! :)

Can anyone please tell me what some of the upcharges at the chef's table might be?
I was under the impression that the Kobe beef was included, but now I'm not so sure... I know the real expensive caviar won't be included (and that's just fine with me! LOL)
Can anyone enlighten me?
Just trying to gauge the price when we go in a couple weeks. I know the meal with the wine pairing will be $315 + tax + tip.

During our April dining experience at V&A, one of our menus offered Australian Kobe-Style Beef w/Oxtail Ravioli for an additional $35. Furthermore, True Japanese Kobe Beef was offered for an additional $110.

We are returning to V&A next weekend and expect to see similar offerings.

All the best. :thumbsup2

I know the men need to wear a jacket but how dressy should I be? I am thinking I should dress like I am going to a wedding. Would that be accurate?

You could certainly dress as if you are going to a wedding. When we went a couple of weeks ago, some people were dressed very formally like that. I wore the same dress that I wore to my end-term party for work in June (I'm a teacher), which was held in a catering hall where someone would throw a wedding reception. My dress was knee length. Not something I would wear to a wedding, but not casual either. DH wore a sport jacket and dress shirt and dress pants, but he didn't wear a tie. There were men in full suits though. Enjoy! It truly is an incredible dining experience!

We'll be there next weekend as well!!! I was under the impression that they call at least 10 days before to ask about allergies, but no call yet. If they don't call, I was wondering if I should do it, or wait and tell them at V&A.

That ten-day "rule" is not cast in stone; it is best to call. We have similar concerns but V&A has us "on file."

We dine early on 8/23.

All the best. :thumbsup2

Thanks! I will have to give them a call as I do have severe allergy to one ingredient. This will be our first experience at V&A. After a number of years of saying we're going to try it, we finally booked it. We will also be there on the 08/23!

This is the one meal I am anticipating most. Everyone has posted great information!

We have a 5:45 reservation in the main dining room on 8/23. We will probably be at our usual table: #12.

Please stop by!

Thank you! We'll be at the QV room at 6pm. I have been second guessing myself about it. Maybe I should have gone with the main room instead. Still looking forward to the experience. It will be nice to thank you in person. I have learned so much from you folks here on the Dis. We are at the airport hotel and will be arriving at the Grand tomorrow. We always look forward to RPC so nice and peaceful.

Our table is next to the QV room (please be prepared for lots of food)! We've done QV twice and are still recovering from the last experience.

Coincidentally, our paths may cross sooner than 8/23. We are currently staying at DTD hotel before we check into the GF tomorrow.

All the best. :thumbsup2

How does V&A compare to Remy on DCL? I know one of the menus is from the V&A chef, Hummel.

We couldn't get an early ADR for our trip in 2012. After eating at Remy last month, I must really try V&A now. So, I will try again for an ADR when we go in March. I am hoping to get one this time. We will be staying onsite. Is it hard to get the regular room if you try at 6am on your 180th day out?

We also checked into the RPC today. We are staying on the 5th floor. We would enjoy crossing your path prior to our respective V&A dining experience on Saturday.

All the best. :thumbsup2
