The Everything Victoria & Albert's Thread

I can't wait to go. I am planning on celebrating our 29th anniversary at V & A on May 6. I was told I couldn't make a reservation there until 180 days out. Is that correct?

Congrats on #29. DW and I will celebrate #29 this month.
So are DH & I - this month as well!

How far out do they make the confirmation call? It's just that we're going to be in Florida for two weeks before our reservation and won't be available to call - well, unless they call our hotel room! We gave the number of AKL when we reserved (as we always do with all our reservations). Will this be an issue?

Thanks!
You can call them if you're concerned. I'm sure you can do it from AKL or ask the concierge to call for you.

I guess my biggest concern is whether it will have any effect on our reservation if they can't reach us. We don't have any allergies or preferences.

Thanks!

We loved Victoria and Albert's on our first trip in December and we're going back next month and eating at the Chef's Table. I'm so excited! We are even toying with the idea of scheduling a second dinner in the main dining room on another night. Seems overly indulgent, I know, but we don't have any plans to return to Disney anytime soon.

How hard was it to book the Chef's Table these days?

I did it at our 180+10 mark and got it on the night I wanted, which happened to be about 9 days past the 180 mark. I didn't wake up early or anything, but I did call that evening of the 180 day point.

Can someone help me out please. :goodvibes I am trying to budget for V&A's and as it's at the end of our 14 night Transatlantic cruise I want to make sure I exchange enough $'s to put aside for it so we don't spend them on the ship. ;)

So my question is can someone confirm how much the regular dining room is for 2 adults & one wine pairing along with the tax and standard gratuity. (I will bring extra $'s for my DH's drinks and any additional tip that we may give)

Thanks in advance.

February 10, 2011

$125 per guest
Wine Pairings $60 per guest

plus 20% tip and tax.

This will get you pretty close!
We'll be down there over the first weekend in September so I can take a look for you if you'd like......:thumbsup2

You can actually split the wine pairing though- it is a lot of wine if you're both doing the pairing seperately, and they'll customize the wines to your meals. Even if you split!

Hey fellow cruiser. :goodvibes

Thanks for that, can you remind me what % is the tax?

Don't worry about checking for me as I just needed a rough amount then i'll add some extra $'s. Thanks anyway.

DH doesn't drink wine so I was going to either get the pairing on my own or may just get a few glasses instead as I only drink white or rose. :)

I think the tax is 6.5% just like everything else (except rooms).

I'm sure that someone will correct me if I'm mistaken though!!:rotfl:

Thanks I can never remember how much it is....I have enough trouble remembering what it is in the UK.

Don't forget when budgeting for V&A that there are a variety of add-on and upcharge dishes you can have if you choose.

Oh yeah, i'd forgotten about those.....I think i'll just pay it on my credit card and sort it out when I get home. :lmao:

Don't forget V&A honors the TIW card discount. A meal for two with a wine pairing each will pay for the TIW card with this meal alone! :cool1:

That is a good tip, unfortunately my TIW card expires this month so I can't use it.

Thank you for sharing Heather, it made me even more excited if that is possible! :yay:

Thank you, Heather!!!

We have dined at V&A's one other time (in 2006) and we are headed back on 12/26. I CAN'T wait!!! I talked DH into making this my Christmas gift (and we're taking the kids (adults) and parents and my brother with us this time too!
