Yeah you're probably right! I'm being over ambitious! Maybe I'll walk to the beach and watch the fireworks if we finish early enough. Thanks for the advice :)

You might be able to catch the Electrical Water Parade too. The walk between GF and Poly is really nice after a heavy meal and romantic, even if you don't go to Poly.

...

Btw - I called V&A several months ago to secure an Oct date and was told I would receive a call back within a few weeks with a definite time & confirmation #. Didn't happen.

...so I called back on July 4 for the rest of my confirmation info. They apologized for not getting back with me, however, all they could give me was the time and said the confirmation # would show up in 48 hrs via email and MDE. Didn't happen.

...called this past week they apologized again, gave me a confirmation #, and and guess what? It doesn't work in MDE. I called back and she said that they have been having problems with guests not being able to link their confirmation #s. But she assured me that I DO in fact have a valid confirmation.

So I'll just cross my fingers it will be ok.
This is my same story. Promised in April to get a call for Oct. dinner. No call. I read here that others were getting their call-backs. So I called V&A. Got a good Oct. dinner time. Promised (on July 2nd) that conf # would show in MDE in about a week. Nothing yet (Aug. 10th). Pretty sure I have a real ADR, but V&A's lack of doing what they say they will is troubling.

The new changes do not take effect until Oct.

Reservations starting in Oct 2015 and forward are required to call V&A directly to secure ADRs. Apparently, there is a glitch with the new set-up, so we have to keep playing phone-tag to get the details down pat.

Reservations *prior* to Oct 2015 are able to be secured via the online system, therefore you do not need to confirm those ADRs with a phone call...or play phone-tag. V&A calls everyone prior to their reservation to go over the menu, allergies, etc.

Example:

For Sep - I could make a reservation via MDE for party of 4 @ 9 pm. Same menu, no changes.

For Oct - I had to call V&A to book a reservation for party of 4 and were given choices of 6:45, 7:15, and 7:30 pm only. New menu, new changes.

Ahhh, okay, thanks for explaining. I was getting very confused and thought I missed something.

I think we might just do that. We're staying at VGF, so it's not like we have a far journey back to the resort afterwards. A walk would be nice and we wanted to spend time enjoying the resort this trip, so that sounds like the perfect idea.

Right. It's sort of had me questioning our choice on whether to dine here again. I will say though, after leaving a voicemail, they were always very prompt with getting back with me right away. It's just that I had to initiate the "return" calls.

...and, again, MDE still doesn't recognize the confirmation # we received on Sat.

During my last trip to the Chef's Table in April, we made reservations verbally with Israel for the CT again in October. I still haven't been able to get a confirmation from V&A's or even have them take my credit card info for a hold, but a few weeks ago they acknowledged an email I sent that confirmed that I was still booked. They're just all screwed up with reservations at the moment.

Thanks for the explanation. It was getting very confusing because earlier someone reported that they were told the changes would be starting with the F&W Festival. It seems very confusing and frustrating. I hope everyone trying to make reservations for later dates gets what they were hoping for.

I received my e-mail confirmation last night for our QVR visit in December.
The e-mail suggests that the wine pairing is not mandatory in the QVR, not sure if this was covered since my last post, but when I last popped in here everyone was saying it's not mandatory.
As per the e-mail last night:

"Dining Room Selection:

____ Dining Room - The warmly lit room embodies a spirit of luxury and romance. The Main Dining Room will now offer two menu choices which beautifully showcase Chef Scott Hunnel’s elegant cuisine and innovative talent. (7 course standard menu starting at $185 & 10 course degustation menu starting at $235)*

__X__ Queen Victoria’s Room - This elegant, intimate setting behind closed doors manifests the craving for a perfect balance between food & wine (10 course tasting menu starting at $235 and accompanying wine pairings starting at $105)*

_____ The Chef’s Table - Our most exclusive table is tucked into a cozy kitchen alcove where guests can view our talented chef team at work (10 course tasting menu starting at $250 and accompanying wine pairings starting at $105)*

*All prices exclude tax and gratuity. Prices are subject to change."

According to the Disney Parks Blog, the QVR is now a Food and Wine Pairing at $340.

How far in advance do they send these emails? I'm at the one month mark for my reservation and have gotten nothing (I'm just in the regular dining room). I'm guessing a week or so?

I just spoke with the hostess, she said they abandoned that plan. She said, "...as of October 1st, it was going to be mandatory as part of a Food and Wine celebration, but after a lot of guest feedback, we've decided against the original idea. It will remain optional, although highly recommended."

I'm happy to hear it, I planned on getting the wine pairing, but if my girlfriend had been forced to get one either I or her would have been stumbling out of the Grand Floridian lol, no way I'd throw it away if forced to pay :) Just would have stretched the courses out further lol

Did they say anything about the menu? I was told that QVR would have its own menu, but now it's looking like it's the same as the CT and 10 course in the regular dining room.

When I called yesterday I was told that there would be a visit from the chef in the QVR, not sure if that is new info, but it was news to me!

I finally got an email confirmation on my reservation I made a few months ago. We are going to be there on November 6th. We are in the main dining room. I know when I made the reservation originally, that I was told we'd have a choice of either a 7 course or 10 course meal and that some of the confusion was over how they were going to integrate the F&W festivities.

So, on my confirmation, it mentions the cost for either the 7 or 10 course meal. So, at what point do we choose which we want? Is it when we get there for the dinner or do they confirm before? I'm sorry if this was answered already and I missed it. Thanks.

When I called last week they said I don't have to choose until we get there, and also that we can each choose a different number of courses.

Just want to give everyone a heads up about their new seating arrangement in the main dining room. I was told that along with the menu changes, there's a new seating process that limits time availability based on party size. For the night I booked (10/31), reservations at 5:00, 5:15, 5:30 were for parties of 2. Reservations from 5:45-6:15 for parties for 4, then 6, and so on into the night with large parties having the latest reservations. That's what I was told when I asked why my reservation time choices were so limited.

Any recent updates to this? I seriously do not want to be seated by 5:30 just because we're a party of 2. I'm hoping the reservationist was mistaken or that this was just a temporary thing.... :goodvibes

Just called to book my daughter's 21st and my husband's 43rd birthday dinner for March 7th. Eduardo was so helpful. I'm not sure whether we will be a table of 3 or 4 so he made the reservation for 4. I was offered 6:45 or 7:15. I opted for 6:45. When discussing the 7 or 10 courses he told me we can either inform them when they call the week before the reservation or we can wait and decide when we arrive. I am glad to have read above that each person can order their own preference since I didn't think to ask about that. I must admit I was a bit surprised at the price difference since we just dined here in February for my 40th when the 7 course meal was $150.
I wish the website would take the online reservation option off. If I hadn't read the small print I would still be trying to book online. I'm glad it didn't make sense to me that they were booked solid in all the rooms on Monday night in March 180 days out.
