I'll take yer silence te mean ye'd love te hear another pirate fact, so here ye go:
*Warned ye be, fer this one's a bit on the rough side*
Ever wonder what the authorities be doin' with pirates, once they be captured? Take 'em te jail they would, and in a few days they be tried and, more'n likely, convicted. Aye, then as ye saw in POTC, the poor pirates be meetin' fate upon the gallows. But what then, says you? Ah, says I, that be the most interestin' part. Them what were crew and not-so-important fellows be buried in the dirt face down. But, the Captains and others of import be taken from the gallows te be prepared fer display. Aye, display, says I, ye heard me right. Their lifeless bodies be coated in a kind o' tar, te keep 'em preserved a bit and te keep some o' the birds from pecking at 'em. Then, they be either hung with chains or placed in a custom-made iron form te hold 'em upright. And then, friends, they be hung from a gibbet at water's edge as a warnin' te all who may pass that a pirate's life be not the way te live and all who do so shall end up the same. And they be left thar te rot 'til every last bit be gone - which could be a couple o' years, mates. Ye remember in me fact 'bout Port Royal, I mentioned Rackam's Cay and promised ye the reason it were so named? Aye, this be it. Fer when Captain Jack Rackam were captured and hanged in Port Royal, his body be displayed on what were then known as Dead Man's Cay, just off Port Royal proper, and today be known as Rackam's Cay in honor of his time spent rottin' thar.
And that, mates, be the sad truth te the end o' many a pirate.
