The Everything Pooh Sized Thread

Have you tried Skechers? They have cute sneakers and other shoes and now they have ones with memory foam insoles and air pockets on the bottoms. I bought a pair for Disney after both my converse sneakers AND Sperry's were very uncomfortable.

The only Skechers that come in 12s are the GoWalks, though I do see good things about them. I may give them a go as an every day style, but I'm really hoping for a sandal for this Disney trip. We're going in September, as we did last time, and it was sooo hot and muggy! I'd have to change socks mid day because they'd get drenched from being enclosed completely. Would like to avoid that if possible, but if I can't find a sandal, I'll definitely give them a look! Thanks for the rec!

I dont care for sandals. If I want something open like that I will do regular flip flops. You might try lanebryant.com or avenue.com

Any Pooh sized girls out there with big feet? Not fat/wide feet, just...LONG. I wear 12's and am having the darnedest time finding shoes that are both cute (because come on...) AND comfy. Add to the size issue that I have bunions, weak arches and bad knees due to ACL reconstruction, and that makes it even more difficult. On our last trip, I misjudged just how hard it'd be to find decent walking sandals and ended up buying men's Merrell hiking shoes. Comfy, yes, but bulky/heavy and definitely NOT cute. Great with jeans, not so much with capris. I keep seeing Merrell Agave 2 Lavish and Teva Tirra (Terra??) mentioned for sandals, and they DO come in 12s (though per Merrell's site they aren't in 12s right now...maybe I can find them elsewhere). Anyone else in a similar physical condition have experience with these? I love flip flops but lately they're KILLING my feet and knees when waking long distances, so I want something with more support.

I "only" wear a 10, but am pooh sized and have foot troubles (3 kinds of tendonitis) cute is very hard to come by! One of the few sandals I can wear for arch support is Birkenstocks or their Birkie or Papillio cousins. When you first put them on, they do not feel like a puffy cloud the way cushy flip-flops do, but they really support you over a long day. They do well for me at a local Six Flags, full day at the zoo, other big walking days, but we all know Disney is a marathon! I'll bring supportive walking shoes (not terribly cute) for longest park days but wear the sandals as an alternate. Definitely DON'T wear brand-new ones - they require at least a month breaking in!

I'm not a size 12 but I've been wearing my Go Walks now for about nine months and they are very breathable my feet rarely sweat in them. The only time I wear socks with them are if my feet are cold. At Kohl's the other day they had in some in a mesh like fabric that was quick dry and the colors were awesome. My only complaint would be for walking anywhere other than flat ground say the woods or rough terrain there isn't enough support, like what you get with a full tennis shoe. The only other thing I could think of is if you have problems with the tops of your feet, they wouldn't be your best bet then.
Anyhow just thought you'd like some perspective of another sweaty footed big girl.

:rolleyes2 I am sorry to be the fly in the ointment, but NOTHING comes in a size 12 that is cute. I am almost 50 and have never had the luxury of cute shoes in my life. All I wear now is Birkenstocks rain or hot those are on my feet. Still not cute, but comfortable. A size 12 is actually a 44 in Birkenstock, Birkie or Papillo language, and take it from someone that has done ALOT of searching, the cute styles and colors only go up to a size 40. UGH. I have wrote letters to the company and talked to the representatives at QVC (shopping channel). There are others like us, you would think they would take a survey and see there is another market out there that the shoe companies are missing. If you find something out there, PLEASE let me know!! GOOD LUCK!!

I prefer tennis shoes for the arch and ankle support they give - walking in the parks takes a serious toll on your feet, ankles, knees, etc. My favorite tennies are K Swiss tubes - which come in up to size 12. I too have long feet - I wear an 11. I have also found that men's shoes in a size 9 fit about the same but somehow look "smaller." I've seen many women's shoes that looked really cute in a size 7 or 8 but look like boats in my size 11. But with men's shoes I don't run in to that problem.

I am not a sandal wearer but did find a terrific pair of New Balance flip flops that I wear when we are going to the beach where I may have to walk quite a bit but don't want to wear tennis shoes. They are made very well and are comfortable for walking. They have good size rubber soles and cloth straps that make them quite comfie. They were men's shoes - size 9.

Good luck!

I just have to comment on your post... There are enough people in this world calling pooh sized people fattie fat fat don't let your inner voice be one of them only jokingly! You are a beautiful, wonderful, gorgeous, person wether you are a size 2 or 26 let your inner monologue tell you that! Then get your butt to the gym so you can shop for clothes in any section of any store! (That's my motivation to hit the gym)

:) You guys have the cutest terms for everything. I just look in the mirror and sing "fattie fat fat" in a chirpy voice to myself while I'm getting ready to go hit the gym.

At 22/24/26 (depending on the cut of the item) it doesn't look like I'm going to have any trouble at all on the rides (right?). Am I going to be good on the busses back and forth all over the place too?

I still have a few months so I'm happily trotting around the gym. I dropped six pounds in two weeks so I imagine I'll be more 22/24 than 24/26 when I get down there.

Agree! Don't put yourself down! Sounds like you are doing a great job working out so bask in that!

I had no problems on buses or rides at Disney (with the exception of the Barn Stormer which was a tight fit but doable). Enjoy your trip to the most magical place! (even for Pooh sizers - unlike most theme parks...)

Add me to the size 12 feet club who are frustrated in the non-cute shoe department. For my recent trip, I found a pair of Clark's that came in 12's that were a little better looking then the average sandal I have found, and actually came in a color other then black or brown. They are very comfortable, but I did not break them in long enough and they ended up pinching me feet after a 12 hour day. I had to revert back to a Berkenstock type sandal, which my feet love at the end of the day. In my search, I ended up going to Amazon and doing a search on Women's Sports Sandals, then sorting by size 12. There were more options then I expected, but not many I considered cute.

I'm not pooh sized but my husband is. Reading some reports on other threads have me a little worried about SDMT. I really wanted us to be able to ride this together in September. There are some encouraging reports here though. I'm hopeful!

I'm going back to WDW this summer. I had planned to lose weight but I didn't. I am a uk size 26/28 and weight is around my tummy. Am I going to have problems with the new 7DMT? I know what i fit in last year and the same size but this ride is new!!

I've read quite a bit on the Disboards about this subject. It sounds like it will be a snug fit for most Pooh sizers - but doable. There is a thread called, "Fitting in Seven dwarfs mine train". There is a lot of good information there.

DH and I are both Pooh sized and I think we may be okay from what I am reading. May not be 100% comfortable but hopefully can live through one short ride so we can try it out! I have always fit the rides so far (though not necessarily comfortably) - hoping this one is no exception. pixiedust:pixiedust:

I rode 7DMT and I am a size 50 waist. I sat with a thinner guy and it was a little on the tight side. I think 2 guests my size or bigger will find it a tight squeeze and the lap bar is an individual lap bar.. so you have to fit both knees in the space between the bars. I don't remember having an issue with the lap bar for my legs, YMMV.

Need to clarify to make sure I understand. When you say individual bar, you and the person next to you will have separate bars?

How is TSMM?? I am currently a size 24. I wasn't concerned until I learned I may have to ride it alone with my 2 year old (he's big for his age) and my 6 year old. Do you think all 3 of us will fit?

Me (I wear a size 24 bottom) and my husband (size 3x shirt) who both carry weight in our stomachs rode Toy Story together with our three year old (size 3 clothes ) and fit. She sat on my lap to help use my gun. There are only two guns in the vehicle.
All three of you will definitely fit since I know your 2 year old and 8 year old would not be the same size as one of us. Someone would have to share a gun.

Have you tried Keens? They are a sandal with the support of a sneaker. Great arch supports. They are unisex. If they don't have a size 12 in women's they will have a mans equivalent. Just won't have the girlish colors.

I second the Keens. They are stylish but then I prefer fit and comfort over looks. I'm planning a trip to WDW in December, am considered Pooh size and may buy another pair of Keens for the trip.

I've worn SAS shoes for years. They are considered old people's shoes but mine have been so comfortable. And they are moving with the times and have some fairly cute ones now.

Hello All. Sorry for the long post.

I am brand new to the forums but not brand new to DW. I went almost every year as a child with my parents, then I didn't go again until '96. I went twice that year, once with the HS band I was student teaching (who actually got to march in the MK), and again a few months later with my family when I graduated college. A Disney trip was what I asked for a graduation present!

Now it is time for my kids' (9 and 4) first trip and we will be arriving two weeks from today. My wife and I are so excited to see their faces when they see Disney for the first time. We actually took my son to Downtown Disney when he was 4, but we couldn't afford to get tickets to go to the park then. We told him that was Disney and he thought he had been there. Now we have 5 days in the parks and we can't wait to show him the real thing. He is autistic so we have been reading up on the changes to disability passes too, and trying to understand how all that works with FP+, etc.

Having not been there in 18 years, I have been reading up on all the changes, but perhaps the biggest change is that I have grown up and out quite a bit since last time.

I was big then, but I have become bigger, and am now 6'4" and about 365lbs. I have been waiting for so long to take my kids, but I am worried about the same thing that everyone else worries about - fitting on the rides. Most of my weight is in my stomach and thighs, and it will kill me if I am unable to get on rides with them. Our plan is to have my wife ride with one, and me with the other to try and average out the pairs on the rides. I have read a bunch about the seatbelt strategies, and that makes perfect sense to me.

Sorry to ramble, but I am so worried about making this trip awesome for my kids and not limiting them because of my problems. Luckily they are both skinny kids, and I pray that being overweight is something they never learn from their daddy.

If anyone is near my size or has a spouse my size, I would appreciate any info about rides. I am fairly strong so lifting myself out of seats shouldn't be too much of a problem, and I am fairly flexible for my size, but I am still spending some time worrying about being "that guy."

Thanks so much to all of you who are supporting others through this thread. Best thread ever!

I came across this section of a website, allears.net titled "Disney At Large."

I can't post the direct link just google: allears disney at large

Should be the first result.

On the sidebar on the left of this page, you can click on a park and they have descriptions of what the seating looks like for every ride (some have pictures of the riding seating) and some rides have comments from other pooh sized folks who have ridden. Lots of tips for dealing with tight theater seats (sit on edge of seat and slide back into rather than how you would normally sit...more comfortable this way) and which seats to choose on rides (odd number seats on rock and roller coaster have more room; front row of test track cars have more room etc). Just click around, read the different articles and put your mind at ease! You'll probably be fine. It seems the ride most pooh size people have issues is the child goofy rollercoaster in fantsyland. But everyother ride should be good! Especially if you are riding with a child.

I hope this helps you and I hope you have a great trip!

The tightest spots for me are the turnstiles for the train that goes around the magic kingdom. I have not entered at the dumbos circus area yet but the other two entrances are a really uncomfortable tight fit fir me and I've been bruised by the bar. I've been told thT we can ask them to open the wheelchair gate but when I've asked I've been glared at and told to go in the turnstile.

BTMRR is dangerous because the bar rests on top of the biggest person. You have to hang on to the kids.

I haven't been in the mine train yet but all reports are that it is too right for normal sized people

Just remember that you are making memories. No one knows you there so any judgements are thrown away quickly.
