The Everything Pooh Sized Thread

One more question - Do you like to wear Capris or Shorts? We are going April 1st thru the 9th.

I would wear what I was comfortable in. I have both and in April it will start to be HOT, so most likely shorts would be all I could handle.

As for riding the rides, don't worry you will fit fine! Trust us!!

And I agree with PP, I would put the 2 older kids in the row in front of me and me and the younger one directly behind them. That way you can watch them, and still be able to ride with the young one.

Also, even though kids go go go, at WDW most everyone needs down time, so take advantage of that. Insist on it, that way the kids (or anyone else) don't melt down. ;)

Have fun, relax and enjoy!!

I have never used Body Glide, but I am thinking of picking some up for this trip. If I wear sneakers, I wear socks and I have great socks that are anti-
blister.

However, I know I will want to be wearing sandals on some days and that gives me two questions: How well does the stuff work without socks? If I go on water rides (splash mountain, etc) will it wash off?

Thanks.

I would like to thank the OP for coming up with this thread!

I have a comment about bags. I carry a vera bradley mini hipster. I am very pooh sized size 26-28 plus, and it still comes down to my hip, or just right at it. They are not very big, only room for my change purse and check book and a couple other small items, but that is all I like to carry around anyway! Just thought I would share! :goodvibes

I like this bag too. It's the perfect size with a long skinny strap.:thumbsup2

I'm so glad I found this site! We leave in 2 weeks, I wish I'd found it a lot sooner! Anyway, I haven't made it all the way thru yet, but I wanted to tell everyone about a place to get a good swimsuit...Making It Big (.com)

The suits are under the activewear tab. My favorite item is the swim short ($45). They are like biker shorts, but made for swimming. They are long enough that all the thigh pudge is covered and controlled. Their swim tops ($49 - $89) are all long enough to cover the tush area and they have some hip room.

I just got back from a 5 night stay at WDW (3/13/11-3/18/11) and wanted to report on my experiences with the rides/attractions. I am 5'5" just under 300 lbs, pear-shaped, size 4X (28/30) top, 5X (30/32) bottom. Here are the rides/attractions I went on/saw (for some, such as BTMRR and Splash Mountain I was sitting next to DH or my father, both who are Pooh-sized as well):

Magic Kindgom
Space Mountain
Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin
Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
Peter Pan's Flight
Mickey's PhilharMagic
Hall of Presidents
Haunted Mansion
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Splash Mountain
Pirates of the Carribean
Jungle Cruise
Magic Carpets of Aladdin
Walt Disney World Railroad

Epcot
Mission: SPACE (Green version)
Test Track
The Seas with Nemo and Friends
The Circle of Life
Soarin'
Journey Into Imagination with Figment
Captain EO
Grand Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros

Disney's Hollywood Studios
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster
Toy Story Mania!
Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
Magic of Disney Animation
Journey into Narnia (standing only - no seats)
Muppet Vision 3-D
Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular
Fantasmic

Disney's Animal Kingdom
Kilimanjaro Safaris
Expedition Everest
Dinosaur
It's Tough to be Bug
Festival of the Lion King
Kali River Rapids

My DH also rode Sum of All Thrills and Mad Tea Party without issue.

The ONLY ride that I felt didn't fit me well was Kali River Rapids. Unlike some other threads here that mention there is one seatbelt for both seats, on our raft there were individual seat belts for each seat. I was able to get the belt around me with basically no room to spare, but the seat itself was tight fit and I was really squished next to my average-sized mother. There were a few empty seats in our raft so I asked if I could move and the CM said "quickly" so I did and had a seat to myself. That was much better, but of course that couldn't be guaranteed. I didn't think the ride itself was that great and I probably wouldn't ride it again.

I had NO problems size-wise with anything else on the above list. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster was probably the hardest one to get in and out of, mobility-wise. I felt there was nothing to grab onto to balance myself like there were on most other rides, and it was much farther step up or down than other rides. But that was probably my favorite ride, so it was really more of a minor inconvience than something that would stop me from going on the ride again.

The tips on here about pulling the seat belt all the way out, or sitting on a theater seat and sliding back were definitely helpful, I highly recommend doing both. Most times I would buckle my seat belt while still standing (there was that much extra room), then tighten it when I sat down, as it seemed easier then trying to buckle it while seated. My dad, who has a bigger stomach than me, seemed to have a bit more trouble buckling himself, but he was trying to buckle while already seated. I think my technique worked better.

Other items I highly recommend: body glide for feet, Dr. Scholl's molefoam padding, Band-aid advanced bandages for blisters, Desitin Creamy as a preventative for chafing in "sensitive" regions, Overland Equipment bags if you like a messenger style bag (Donner for a largish bag, Ellis for a small/medium bag, and Bayliss for a small bag that is also convertible to a waist pack). All three have very generously sized adjustable straps and I used them all at various times.

I definitely echo the sentiments in this thread, just go and enjoy yourself!

Ladies, tell me which body shapers are best for breathing in the heat? I usually wear a lightweight cami body shaper just to keep everything a bit smoother. Is there a particular type that is better for WDW? The ones I have are great, very comfortable, just not sure how they will withstand the disney heat in May.

Hello fellow pooh size Disney lovers. I went to WDW last September and this was my first time. We went for 9 days and had a great time, but my feet really caused me problems. I'm 286 and 5'6". My feet were absolutely ruining my trip because the bones in my feet ached and throbbed so bad. I didn't have a problem with blisters or anything like that but it was more of the bone pain. I wore wide new balance shoes, crocs, flip flops, Keen's, and NONE of these helped. I would have to say the Keen's were the most comfortable but they really weren't even comfortable. At this point I really don't know what to do. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thank you so much!!!!!

Also about fitting on the rides, I have a small chest, large hips, butt, and abdomen. The only ride that I couldn't fit on was the ride in Epcot, Sum of all Thrills. They have seats for you to try and see if you fit but I didn't, my hips wouldn't fit into the seat, and I couldn't ride the seggways because they have a 250lb weight limit.

I have had a lot of problems, off and on with my feet hurting also. :sad2: I am a nurse and work on my feet all day long. You would think this would have prepared me for my first adult Disney trip several years ago but NOPE!! What I have found works for me is a few things. First I start walking as much as possible as often as possible leading up to my Disney trip each year. I'd like to say I stay motivated and walk year round but I live in South Texas and I don't walk in summer its just too dang hot!! :headache: Second I take ibuprofen with me to Disney and I take it morning, noon and night every day. This helps soooo much. Way more than you think it would. :yay: Finally I make sure I take breaks and don't try to do too much. When I go its just me and my son and he hates to rush, he always has, so that really helps - he's happy to take it easy with me. Even if you have faster moving folks in your party find a way to have it work for you, either they meet your pace or let your energetic members be your fast pass runners. I went with my sister and her hubby one year, she's pooh sized like me and he's not so he was our runner. Our kids were small then and they had little legs so we hung with them and he didn't get bored going at our slow pace. Do your best with shoes but my guess is that its not your shoes, its just the strain of all that walking on a hard surface. Have a lot of fun!!! :dance3:

Any tips on where to buy plus-sized sundresses? What kind of shoes would be comfortable with them? I usually wear sneakers because I need good arch support (plantar fas.... (spelling!) and flat feet). I'm going to WDW during August, so I'm really worried.

Alight.com carries a quite a few plus-sized sundresses; some strappy, and some w/ short sleeves.

For shoes, amphibious sports sandals all the way. They can be a wee bit clunky-looking with a dress, but no one you know will see you, and you can hide your feet in the photos. I usually wear Merrells, but different people like different brands.

I thought I'd swing back in and mention that today at Sears, I found plus size womans cargo shorts. They are bermuda length.

They had olive green and denim. They were pricey (40.00!) so I only bought one of each type since I've been looking since last summer and haven't found any.

I learned real quick that whatever I wear as far as footwear is concerned is that I need to break them in really good..I am one that likes to wear sneakers as I feel more support..The last trip I took I wore theI would wear flip flops or sandals at night when we would go eat and go watch fireworks then return home.

I recently came back from a trip to WDW and found one of the best things to use was Lanacane. It is just like Body Glide - but can be found in any store in the first aid section. Put it anywhere your skin touches and you'll be fine!
Also when it comes to bags, I actually used one of the Disney drawstrings and was fine with that throughout my trip.
One thing that I am going to try to remember for next time is a portable foot massager-type thing. One of those rolling ones prob because my feet were killing me!! I wore walking sneakers and I was dying. My trip was only 4 days of parks and we were rushing to get things done but I swear my feet were going to fall off.
Also, when in the stores if you don't see something in your size- ask. I had this issue at the WL shop and asked. I was able to get a sweatshirt that I really liked and love wearing!!!

Thank you so much!! I really appreciate you writing back. I'm going to start walking everyday as much as I can, and just wear really supportive shoes. I might even consider going to a podiatrist and see what they say. Thank you!

I just found a website that has a lot of pooh-sized women's clothing - vermontcountrystore.com. I love sundresses in the summer and they have some very nice ones (not the mumu variety). I also need pj's with a pocket for my insulin pump and they are one of the few places that I've found both nightgowns and pj's that have a pocket.

And it's a fun site to browse through - they have lots of fun stuff!!

Merri :woohoo:

Just back! Thanks for all the reassurances :) I let my guard down and just had fun and it was great. I fit comfortably on all the rides we went on except one...Astro Orbiter. Yes, I know, some others have already pointed this out but it was day 4 and everything had been going so well that I really just didn't think about it until I sank down into that awful container. LOL It sucked getting out but I did it :) Unlady-like and as far from graceful as you get but it was not the end of the world! Even as a child I was too scared to go on Splash Mountain but I did it this time - TWICE! It was AWESOME! I also did Big Thunder Mountain Railroad twice! Again, awesome! I had to have my husband help me fasten the seatbelt on Test Track - it was just at an odd angle or something that I couldn't quickly figure out so he helped. It had nothing to do with belt length though - there was plenty of extra.

Absolutely no problems on anything else. I didn't attempt several that you might be curious about - Space Mountain (4 year old didn't want to try it so I volunteered to stay with him), Rockin Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror (our whole family skipped these, we were so focused on Toy Story Mania!). I had no trouble with any turnstiles, but I'm tall at 5'9" so I probably walked on my tiptoes through a couple. Honestly the worst part of the trip was the 757 plane on the way home. :) We ALL felt like sardines!

So, THANK YOU for all the reassurances. For those of you worried about it, I completely understand and hope that you too can just let go and have a blast. Disney rocks!

Hi guys...so glad to find this thread. I was wondering where I can buy the bodyglide? I cant seem to find it in any of the shops around here. Also I wanted to tell you about a great Blister treatment I found. Its called Dermoplast Spray. You just spray it on the blisters and it gives immediate pain relief. It has benzocain in it so it cools and numbs them instantly. It even sprays on cold. It really does work. I have attached a link for it below for you. I just blast them with it then apply the band aid blister bandage.

23 Days and counting for me....:cool1:

It took me a while to find the bodyglide in my stores. I found it at Walmart in the section where they have condoms and um.... KY and things like that. :rolleyes1 I had to look really hard, its not a very big tube but you don't use as much as you think you would. I have found, suprisingly, that I don't generally need it but my son uses it a lot. I am pooh sized and he is not so maybe his skin is just more sensitive than mine. He gets rub rashes a lot when we are at Disney and this stuff has been a life saver for us. Cause when he's uncomfortable he's grumpy! Good luck! :cutie:
