A couple of people mentioned on another thread that they would be interested in a thread about eating healthy and exercising. So here it is. I know we have the WISH Board. I haven't been very successful there, but I have had great success with a couple of other online weightloss groups.

I'll post more later.

Here are my goals: I want to lose 20 lbs. by Christmas. I'm really not so much interested in weighing 130 lbs, but I do want to be able to fit into my smaller clothes: size 8 and a few 6's. We might go to Florida for Christmas, so I also need to be able to wear a swim suit.:0

I need to cut down on eating junk food and eat healthy meals and snacks. I have a bad habit about skipping meals and then pigging out.

I have found that it helps me to post my meals or calories for the day. If I'm held accountable, I'm less likely to stray.

Let me know how people want to structure this thread. Do you want weekly weigh-ins or daily meal plans? The WISH Board seems to start new challenges at the beginning of each month, so if we want to move over to one of those in a few weeks we can.

I am also hoping to lose 20lbs by Christmas. I have already lost 20lbs since January, but my efforts seem to have stalled. I have little by little started snacking more. Although I still eat healthier overall I need to be more consistent. The same with my exercise.

I"m in! This is perfect.

My boyfriend is trying to help me eat healthier and exercise more. It's so much easier with a "coach".

My goals are to eat healthier, spend less money on fast food, and essentially lose about 40lbs before my WDW trip. This is VERY do-able since my trip is not until September 2006. My goal is to lose 1-2 lbs per week. I'm on day 4 and it's going good so far. He's banned me from the scale until August 29th (the 2 week mark) because I know if I don't see the pounds coming off immediately I"ll get discouraged. I'm counting calories and walking 2 miles every night faithfully (well - for 4 days now anyway)

I just want to be able to go to Blizzard Beach and wear a bathingsuit and not be so self conscious!!

Best of luck to all of you and we're all here to help and encourage each other!

Hi Auntie Mom and Sunkissed! I'm excited you're in. Snoopy and Briarmom said they were in too. How do you all want to do this?

I'm in. I'd like to lose another 13 lbs by the time my vacation rolls around in November. I'm down 12 lbs since the beginning of the year -- not great, but I'm sure not complaining.

I was doing really well when I was walking 3-5 nights a week (from 1.5 - 2.7 miles), but then summer really kicked in and it got too hot. We just bought bikes 2 weeks ago (my first time on a bike in 20+ years, so I was a bit wobbly), so hopefully between that and resuming walking will help.

I know that I can't be totally strict with myself or I'll rebel.

Ultimate goal is to weigh 150 lbs. I'm about 5'9". Currently size 12/14, hoping for 10.

Yikes, did I really just put that out there for all to see?

OK, I'm in. I need to get in better shape to be a healthy "older" mom to a 7 year old. I'm more interested in feeling good and my clothes fitting well than being a certain weight.

I am going to walk more and try to get away from junk food. Goodbye pistachio almond ice cream, goodbye candy... I'll miss you but not as much as I'll enjoy looking and feeling better.

Now help me stick to it! :flower:

How great to see sweet angel and my friend crazy for goofy here.

Since everyone here wants to exercise, we could do an exercise challenge. You decide how many minutes you want to exercise in a given period of time, and then report each week.

I've done it before in a month--like I'm going to exercise 800 minutes a month. Since we're in the middle of the month, I'll say I'm going to exercise 400 minutes between now and Sept. 1 (or we could do Sept. 3rd since that's a Friday). Your exercise could be walking, running, weights, machines, an exercise class or video. Whatever. Even a big gardening project could be exercise, but probably not stuff like housework or taking out the trash.

If I'm going to do 400 minutes in two weeks, I can do 200 minutes a week or 4 days of exercising 50 minutes each. I like doing this in 2 to 4 week chunks because some weeks or days are better than others.

Everyone set their own goal for how many minutes you want to exercise in the next two weeks. You can report your minutes daily or weekly.

I'm planning on eating healthy beginning Monday. I'll actually try to do better this weekend, but on Monday I'll get serious.

I think 800 minutes per month sounds like a great goal. I've done 120 this week so far (30-35 per night since Monday). I've been walking/jogging about 2 miles each evening. Sometimes my boyfriend comes with me but he lives in Canada so the nights that he doesn't come over, I go by myself (with my discman). It's been good so far.

What about weigh in's - I'm not getting back on the scale until 8/29 (2 weeks from the start of this darn thing)..because I know the first week isn't always that successful I don't want to get discouraged.

I like this thread~! I don't want to lose, I just want to maintain my level of fitness! I've been sick on and off for over a week now! I just got diagnosed with a sinus infection. It has gotten in the way of my workouts, and healthy eating! My ears were so clogged up, I haven't been swimming laps. I need to get back on track!

My SO has different types of eating habits then I do. He likes to make meat the main focus of the meal. He cooks for me and I end up with a big slab of meat! :earseek: I don't want to alter my eating ahbits to suit his.

This should be a fun thread! :sunny:

I just started to try to lose more weight. I lost about 20 pounds but wanted to lose 40. I've had salad with tuna and low fat dressing the last few nights for dinner and Wed. night we did an 8.25 mile bike ride and last night a 5 mile ride. I've also started doing light weights at home while watching tv. I tend to eat when stressed and there's been lost of stress lately. Fur baby related!

My goal ~~ a few less lunches and a lot more crunches!!

I wish you all good luck :)

I'm in! I still want to get rid of about 15 pounds before our WDW trip in Nov. I lost 20 last year, and have been 'stuck' at this weight ever since. I need to get that mentality back from when I dropped the 20. I walked 2 times per day, 30 minutes each. I need to do that again, except I was thinking I would walk in the a.m. and then do either walking again p.m. or pilates. Just something to switch it up. I need to get in that mindset of eating right and feeling good. Even my skin will thank me for it!

I have walked on the treadmill the last two nights. I am 3 weeks post-surgery now, so I am needing to get moving!

I lost 30 pounds on Weight Watchers, PM me if you want more info on the WW program.

I'd like to lose another 5 to 10 pounds before my wedding in October.

Have you ever noticed, that most people will do ANYTHING to be thin, EXCEPT eat less and exercise? We'll swallow any pill, follow any fad diet that says we'll lose 20 pounds in 2 days and never be hungry. But actually eat right and get off our lazy butts? Heck no!

What really scares me is the huge increase in overweight kids. Between health problems and social problems, these kids are in for a world of trouble!!!

I'm in!
I would like to lose that last 10 that just insists on sticking around!
I lost my weight by using a Gazelle to exercise on...but have lost momentum...can't seem to find 30 minutes a day to do it.

I've also recently got addicted to smoothies at the cafe here at work...I think they are low in fat, but too many calories and sugar.....gotta break the habit!!

going on DCL in Oct - would love to lose at least 5 of the 10 before then!!!
Because I'm sure I'll gain 5 on there, which will put me back to losing the same darn 10 lbs AGAIN!!!!

Even though some people don't want to weigh in, can we make Monday our weigh in day? I find that keeps me on track a little better on the weekends.

So many of you are doing a great job on the exercise already. Saturday through Wednesday, I did 215 minutes. And I've been sitting on my big behind ever since. I want to run a 5K in mid-September so I need to start running again. The only running I've done is during Ride and Run classes (combination spinning and running, but mostly spinning).

Hi,

I'm trying to maintain, lost 50 lbs on WW and have been in maintenance for going on a year now.

The exercise has fallen off over the summer, and going on vacation and eating wildly on vacation hasn't helped! :sunny:

Not sure I have suggestions for the thread, although I do try to check in on the WISH boards now and then.

I'm in as well.

I've been doing South Beach for about three weeks now, and am leaving very soon for WDW!

And its free dining time. YIKES!

At least I know I'll be walking quite a bit so that is helpful.

I don't want to be focused on a weight number, because that will get me obsessive. I haven't lost much pounds on South Beach (about 10) but my measurement have gone down considerably-- 2 " bust, 2 " waist, 1.5" upper thigh, 2 " lower thigh, and about 1.5 or so hips.

I'd like some encouragement to note that inches are just as good if not better than weight loss.

Ya know, Cindy, I think measurements are the way to go. I lost 60 pounds after the birth of my second son (eventually), and I remember wishing that I had done measurements as well. I'll still use the scale because I can get obsessed with it. Anyone else want to take measurements?
