you were always able to get a picture with the tower in the background on Backlot Tour, but now that it's closed you really cant. Now if the expansion/construction happens maybe they'll open that side of DHS and people will be able to get up close to the tower.

While people have been complaining about the hat, it's a recognizable icon. It's right there, not unlike Cinderella Castle or The Tree of Life. I know I'm in the the minority, but I am sad to see it go. We always stopped to see if we could get pics so it looked like we were wearing the hat. It never quite worked, but it was so fun! Not sure if the Earful Tower can take up the icon status, it's just not accessible. Hopefully it will work, only time will tell.

Nothing official from Disney,but there is a lot of "buzz" that The Hat will reappear somewhere sometime.

I don't get the questions about what they will be replacing it with. They are replacing it with the proper view of the park. Normally I would agree with people that things shouldn't be removed without something replacing it. In this case, however, it changed the look (and feel) of the park. Make it feel like a Hollywood that never was and always will be again. Make it feel like a studio. And I love that we will finally be able to see the theater when we enter the park again. It's about time!
