Welcome back to my food report! So glad to see people still pouring in! I feel as popular as a cheerleader
Day 3 is the one day we had to plan around an ADR, as we had lunch reservations at Les Chefs de France at noon exactly. Since we had to go to Epcot, I figured it would be the right morning to go to the Polynesian resort for breakfast, to try the famous tonga toast. We could then just hop on the monorail and go to Epcot. Day 3 is the only morning we didnt eat breakfast at our own resort We ate at Captain Cooks, which serves the exact same tonga toast people go to Kona Café for, but for a CS credit instead of a TS credit. But before I talk about the food, lets talk about Captain Cooks: what a tiny little place! When youre used to the value resorts huge food courts, its a bit of a shock to go to Captain Cooks. The lines are inefficient, the place is cramped, and even the CMs didnt seem as nice as the ones at ASMu. We had to order our food from a terminal, then go in line to pay, where they gave us a beeper, which blinked when our tonga toast was ready. So anyway, like 10 minutes later, we finally had our food.
We got the tonga toast plate (6.19$), which included regular sausage or bacon. I much prefer the chicken sausage, but that wasnt an option you could chose on the ordering thingy
so we got the regular, fatter sausage. Since we didnt bring our refillable mugs with us, we took two drinks (one coffee (2.09$) for MarieLune and one bottled chocolate milk (2.19$) for me). We also used one snack credit to get our traditional morning fruit cup (3.99$) (a WDW morning is not complete without it!).
The tonga toast was pretty good. Not sure Id go through the trouble of going to the Poly often to get it, but pretty good (this coming from someone who doesnt like bananas, and the toast has a creamy banana filling!). Id probably eat there again just for the tonga toast, maybe on a MK morning. I think it,s definitely one of those special WDW foods you have to try at least once, like Dole whip or turkey legs.

Less than 3 hours later, we had our ADR at Les Chefs de France. We arrived in Epcot a bit early, so we walked around a bit in the world showcase until our ADR time (have I mentioned how much I hate having meals at set times?). It was very humid, we were suffocating, and were looking forward to the air conditioning. The sky was also a dangerous shade of grey, so we were hoping to be seated before it started raining. We were seated about 10 minutes after we arrived at the podium, which wasnt so bad since we could wait in the shade. It was weird to speak French to the girl at the podium, the maitre dhotel and our waitress: I almost felt snooty doing it! (lets mention that French is our first language, though Quebec French and France French are very different, like comparing United States English and New Zealand English). It started raining not long after we were seated, and it poured like crazy!
Our waitress Laetitia was super nice from the get go. She saw in our reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary, so she asked if we wanted a little drink for the occasion. We opted for a sparkling wine (the champagne of the poor!), which was very good (8.75$ a glass). I had a little trouble deciding what to eat though. I had made up my mind before going, and wanted the salade nicoise (a French classic), which was listed on the menu on Allears.net. Unfortunatly, it wasnt on the menu anymore, and there wasnt anything that particularly appealed to me, so we both just went with what everyone else takes: the prix fixe menu (a 3 course meal for 23.95$). We both ordered the French onion soup (neither of us is a fan of lobster, so the bisque de homard didnt have much going for it). Below the soups, as well as our sparkling wine and bread :
The soup was very good, almost as good as the one I make at home
Seriously, I usually just do mine with mozzarella cheese, but from now on, I think Ill do it with gruyere cheese like they do, so much better! These are very filling, especially on a hot day, so I would have gone straight to dessert. However, we still had to eat our entrees. Theres only 3 choices on the prix fixe menu, and neither of us likes quiche, so MarieLune got the Croque Monsieur (snooty name for toasted cheese and ham sandwich) and I got the gratin the macaroni (snooty name for mac & cheese). Both meals were OK, but didnt really wow me. I could have skipped this course and wouldnt have been sad. Below are are entrees :
We were finishing our entrees and hadnt seen Remi yet, so MarieLune was getting anxious (we did go there solely to meet the little fella). He finally appeared as we finished our entrees: you should have seen MarieLunes face! She looked like a 5-year old whos just seen Santa Claus, she was so cute! I wish I had taken a picture of her, it was priceless. However, I wasnt in a picture-taking mood by then. See, I dont know if its the heat, or the too much cheese, or the drinks, but I wasnt feeling well at all. Really REALLY not feeling well
. I was heavily sweating, was feeling queasy, and basically like I was going to throw up all over the table. I made every effort to keep it together, because I didnt want to ruin MarieLunes time with Remi. He finally arrived at our table, and I dont remember most of it. I did film a bit of him chatting with MarieLune, but frankly, I was just trying not to collapse. Once Remi left for the next table, our desserts arrived. I had ordered the creme brulee (one of my favourite desserts), and MarieLune had ordered the profiteroles. Well, believe it or not, I felt so sick, I only ate half of the creme brulee, and no profiteroles at all. I know, its like a sin or something. So MarieLune had to eat both desserts, and she didnt complain one bit. What a trooper
Here are the desserts, which were apparently very good :
MarieLune got a cappuccino with her dessert, while I drank the rest of my glass of water. We left the restaurant right after. It was raining a bit, and walking in the rain actually seemed to help a bit, because I didnt actually get sick, but it was a close call. Lesson learned; no more table service in August, way too hot. I have a feeling it was just too much carbs in one meal.

We headed back to our resort for an afternoon nap, which I really needed. I think I slept for about 3 hours that afternoon! We got up around 5pm, and werent even hungry. We decided to go to MK to catch the main Street Electrical Parade and Wishes. Our appetite was back when we walked across the Aloha Isle, so we got a pineapple float (sorry, same picture as day 1, didnt take a pic this time):

We got fast passes to the BTMR, and went to the Haunted Mansion. We also walked around a bit to work up an appetite, and went to dinner at my favourite CS place in MK: Columbia Harbour House! I love the fried shrimps basket there, but given what had happened earlier that day, we were wise and only split a Lighthouse sandwich (8.09$), low-fat milk (1.49$) and apple crisp (3.59$). It was our first time trying this sandwich, and a great surprise it was! Its a sandwich made on whole grain bread, with tomatoes, hummus and broccoli slaw. Sounds weird, but it was very refreshing, and right up our alley. The sandwich did come with a bag of chips, which I would have substituted for a healthier option, but forgot to ask. The apple crisp is also really good. Definitely a great place to eat, and theres always lots of tables to sit at. Heres our meal :

We hung out some more, rode a few rides (Stich, Pooh, Laugh Floor, Buzz 3 times in a row, etc). We grabbed a cappuccino smoothie at Auntie Gravity, which really hit the spot. Its cappuccino, but it tastes a bit like chocolate too. Sorry for the picture, we were so thirsty, we drank half of it before we remembered we didn't take a picture :

We watched the electrical parade (loved it!) and Wishes, then it took us like over an hour before we could get a bus to our resort. Thats why I hate leaving after the night shows. We were getting pretty cranky by then: so glad we dont have kids! We went to bed completely exhausted, and I slept like a baby.
Next up: Day 4 Typhoon Lagoon, Hollywood Studios and laundry (oh, the excitement!)
