So I'm not one to start a debate on tv shows, but I'm watching the new episode of The Duggars and I am finding the interview with just the older girls to be very strange.

The "host" for lack of a better word, is asking the girls about marriage, leaving the home, etc and it appears to me that they are very uncomfortable, looking around, making faces (the ones not answering the questions)

Also overall they just look different-more mature with more detail to their hair and make-up.

I agree, it's a little odd. I would hate to be asked questions like that, at any age!
They are such beautiful girls, aren't they?

I just watched the wedding. As much as I did NOT wait for my first kiss until the wedding day (not even close!), and I think it is totally unrealistic in our social circles, there is something really sweet about it. Especially after watching High School Moms last week. I still can't scrub my brain from seeing my very worst nightmare.

Well, considering there's rumblings Mama Duggar is pregnant with number 20, they probably believe they'll never be able to leave.

I just saw them on the Today show, and I was cringing as I was watching, waiting for a "special announcement," but there wasn't one. I thought for sure she wasn't.

Good grief!!!!!

I watched tonight. Honestly, I thought the whole wedding was very sweet and innocent, something kind of lost in our society nowadays.;)

The questions about marriage posed to the older girls were kind of nice. They know what they're looking for in a man, and they stressed they want a man, not an immature boy.:rotfl: That made me chuckle! But they seem very grounded and not likely to end up on those teen moms shows.:sad2:

I know alot of people may not agree with their philosophy on life but I have to admit that they are an amazing, caring, respectful group of kids.

I thought the girls answers were great. I even liked their comment about how one needs to be content being single or else they will not be content in a relationship/marriage. I tell my friends that all the time when they float from boy to boy.

I may not agree with everything that they do but I do admire that they stick to their beliefs.

I watched part of the show. I thought the long questioning of the older girls was a bit awkward, but I liked their answers.

Those are some really pretty girls BTW!

Yeah I don't think it matters what the J'slaves want or don't, they're meant to stay on the compound, parenting their siblings, running the house, cooking, cleaning, doing the laundry, etc.

Totally agree!!! They are genuinely kind people. They came through our town in fall of 2008 either on their way to or from Josh and Anna's wedding. They were in the parking lot of the Sam's Club as DH and I were on our way to our newborn DD's Dr. appointment. We had a bit of time to spare so we stopped and said hi.... SO KIND! We introduced our new DD and joked that her name (Jubilee) would be perfect for their family since its all J's.

Then 4 years later they had that awful miscarriage of that sweet baby girl they named Jubilee. Gives me chills. Did I help name a Duggar? LoL!!! :)

Anna's sister. I think her name is Priscilla. The wedding was in Florida and the entire Duggar family went. It was a beautiful show.

I thought they really stretched it last night. Anna's sister's wedding?

Who is next? Anna's sister's cousin's mother's neighbour's niece's wedding? I thought it was strange to show Anna's sister's wedding. Stick to the Duggars.

I bet you did! I saw that episode last night (not the one that is the thread topic) and thought that was a wonderful named Jubilee Shalom for their baby girl. The name itself brings joy and peace to mind which during a time of such heartbreak, is a wonderful reminder of God's Love.

That episode was very touching. I teared up as I watched at how they handle their pain and turned it over to the God they believe so deeply in. You can tell every life is precious to this family.

I completely agree! They handle things with such grace, I'm sure because of their deep faith. That is a heartbreaking episode for sure.
I understand that they aren't for everyone, but I have a high level of respect and admiration for the way they handle their family. :)

I agree 100%. I cried through nearly the entire episode. Despite their pain (and I've miscarried 2 babies) they continued to rely on God to see them through. When they said that the Lord giveth and taketh, well, it just hit home for me. Initially I was a bit taken aback that they would show this episode but I have to say that it was beautifully done and showed the Duggars (particularly Michelle) in a very vunerable, broken and exposed light. I can't imagine having to tell all those children that the baby I was still carrying had died when they'd just asked excitedly if it's a boy or a girl or twins. Michelle's composure was just plain astounding and impressive.

They are truly an amazing family and while I don't adhere to everything they believe, I find them endearing and a joy to watch.

a few years ago...the people who do the video taping of the family.(I read it on one of the sites)..said how this family actually cares for them all...They celebrate for them on their birthdays (they made them cakes) and when one of the crew was expecting their first.they told it on camera.....

They said how sweet the kids were...full of mischief but still polite and respectful to their family and the crew members..
AND how different they were from another TV family of kids...;) and parents...

SO if they can afford these kids and they seem to do okey...then let them...

I did not watch the whole interview. I'll admit to being skeptical of how the Duggars "raise" all those kids. BUT I did see the girls being assertive and making it clear that they were not ready to rush into a relationship, nor were they sitting around hoping a man came along to "save" them. I liked it.

I'll admit a small part of me thinks they are putting off marriage because being home now offers them more opportunity that going away to be married would (fancy vacations and other things) - and I can't imagine any of the girls is in a rush to have kids!:rotfl2:
