I can get direct flights from Detroit to Orlando for $89 per person each way.
This rate is for Sunday to Sunday travel (not the great fares that are offered during the week)

I know this is not the cheapest fare ever but... is it good enough to go ahead and book my flights. The flights are at times that are very convenient for me.

Would love to book, but am wondering if I should play the waiting game a little longer since we don't travel until the end of April.:confused3

Its hard to say. If the flight times are perfect than I would book it. If you want, sign up for Spirit emails. That would give you first opportunity for the lower fares. They also tend to lower fares on a Tuesday/Wednesday -- without any email notice. If prices drop, they will probably only go down to maybe $69 or $79 each way. You could probably wait a little since that if not a "heavy travel" time period, but keep watching the fares for price changes.

I'd be thrilled with a $89 fare. .

wish I could get a far that cheap out of MN!

herc.

Personally, anything under $100 OW is cheap enough to go ahread and book.

Your trip is coming soon, so you might have to take it. I always fly for 49 or 59 each way to Orlando from Detroit. I have gotten these rates over busy times too. I check every day! Spirit, Northwest, Airtran and now Southwest fly nonstop.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but how far out are you booking to get 49 or 59 ea. way? I am coming in Sept. and am not sure how long to wait to book. Like the other poster I can get 89.00 ea way, but there are five of us, so any discount off of that will help alot. Thanks!!

We are going in June. I went ahead and booked NW. I liked the times and the fact that they were nonstop. I was not crazy about the price. For 5 of us it was apx. $1100 with taxes etc. That is about average for what we have paid in the past. I do not do the waiting game well. I don't like SW's times of travel, so I decided to book NW out of Detroit. It is DONE!!!! No more checking on flight prices everyday....:thumbsup2

I check every day because the prices can change so much. I booked our trip for last July around Jan/Feb. I booked a December trip in Aug. I booked our Jan trip in Sept. I am still waiting on my Aug air.

Are you getting the best deals through Spirit? or do I need to check them all every day? Thanks for the help!

I was getting the best deals with Spirit, but all of them that I listed have the same cheap fares but at different times. For this past Jan trip (over MLK holiday) I almost went with Airtran because they were the same price as Spirit (49 each way), but I liked the Spirit times better and we get to pick our seats (I usually pick Row 5 or 6).

For this Aug trip I am checking Spirit and Airtran each day to see if their prices have come down yet. This trip is a little bit different because we are flying into Fort Myers and flying out of Orlando, so I might book USA3000 going and South West returning. Good luck :wizard: !

I should add that the cheap fares I get are not the ones that they email to me. Those fares are only good for like a month before traveling, only on certain days, and I have never been able to book the cheap .06 cent flights. I have traveled (Thurs. to Monday; Sunday to Friday; and Monday to Sat).

We flew Airtran (DTW to MCO) three weeks ago and I paid $417 for three of us. I bought the tickets in July and the rates went down before our trip. They gave me a credit for future travel. I usually like to keep the rate at around $500 for three of us. When I first booked the flight it was a little over $500, but then I received the credit a couple of months before we traveled. I was very happy with the final cost.

We were very pleased with Airtran and will fly them again.

I got $79 each way for May from AirTran a few weeks back (Sat-Sat, Non Stop). I consider anything under $100 to be a good price. I checked every where, every day for quite awhile and when the $79 fare came out jumped on it. I've never seen a fare as low as $49 for this period.

This is our third trip during May. I've flown NW & AirTran for these trips and greatly prefer AirTran! Brand new airplains and great service.

We got our tickets for January for $117 including tax on Northwest. We purhcased our tickets in early November, which I think was 2 months in advance. We watched the price for about 6 months before that though. It came down quite a bit. Depending on when you are going, you might want to book since that is a good price.

We went in September last year and we booked at $49 a-way, a total of about $430 for the 4 of us plus an infant. I booked this in June or July. We flew Airtran, but the prices were the same for Spirit and Northwest. I just had to check everyday for awhile. Because they would bounce back and forth. I found that NW was the worst for that. I would wait for sure, but keep checking. Good Luck.
