The Dress Shop on Cherry Tree Lane

My 50th anniversary dress was delivered today. Love it. It does have two buttons at top of the neckline in back so I had to get help buttoning it, and cleavage is unavoidable much like the Dumbo dress. Has a bit of stretch, but holds its shape well. Not sure if I like it with or without belt. It is definitely cuter in person than in pics.

I love it WITH the belt. And you look fabulous in it! The bodice fits you perfectly, and that's not too much cleavage, with such a tiny keyhole! I think it looks too baggy on the ultra thin model, so much so that you can see some of the underpinnings through the keyhole. Wear it with pride!

Well thank you! You just made my day ❤️

I always tell my daughter (who, like many young women struggles with her body image, even though she's objectively pretty) to relish her beauty while she's young. You get to be an old crone like me, and even your HANDS are terrifying and closer to the Witch than to Snow White's. I tell her: "Take a lot of photos of your beautiful self! Look at your pretty hands! Enjoy your smooth skin and youthful glow!" Etc, and etc. Some day you will look back on photos of yourself in that fabulous dress and appreciate them even more than you might now.

Very good advice for everyone!! And I’m sure you’re being way too hard on yourself. Take pics regardless of age. You’re only as old as you feel.

Hahaha, I still wear a charming frock or two on vacation, but unless I wear some gloves, there's no hiding the CRONE HANDS! :rotfl2:

I have a lot of hang ups, but can honestly say my hands aren’t one. Name ANY other body part and I’m sure I’ve agonized over it more than once. I guess I just never really pay attention to my hands, but now that you mention it, they are quite wrinkly

I don't get that, what underpinnings? Can you post images of what you're seeing along with you wearing your 50th dress?

I wish the keyhole was tiny, here are the measurements:
Small 2.5" wide x 3.5" long
Medium 3" wide by 4" long but when wearing it with a 34DD bra, the width expands to 3.5".

For me personally, I feel the keyhole reveals too much cleavage. I'm not saying that's a bad thing for other women.

It's from your post, #3666. It looks like you attached an official Disney photo of the dress. Look to the left part of the keyhole. You can see part of the underlayment of the dress through the keyhole. My point was just that if one is not super thin as the model is, the bodice is likely to fit better and lay right, with the keyhole flat against one's skin and not flapping around so much you can see the interfacing below.

"Underpinnings" was a bit of an old fashioned turn of phrase. I believe it originally meant "underclothes" but I really meant 'facing' or 'interfacing'. I don't personally own this dress and was just reacting to Annie's photos and your later one of the Disney model in the dress.

What's shown here is called lining, blue lining.

None flapping here and obviously she has breasts.

I think you were doing a lot more with your post.

I literally have no idea what you're talking about. AGAIN, I was merely pointing out that the dress looked good on Annie. The keyhole looked nice. It laid flat on her skin.

I have not comment on the second photo, because no one had posted that one. However, in the top photo on your post 3689 (which is the same one you posted before, and which I commented on) - yes, the LINING or INTERFACING or FACING or even UNDERPINNINGS are showing through the keyhole. Lining in a garment is not intended to show. That demonstrates to me that the dress does not flatter the thinner model.

I wasn't trying to upset you or anyone, and I'm a little shocked that you're basically accusing me of something here, and I'm not even sure what?! I've seen you on these boards for years and you've always been quite pleasant, so I'm not sure what you're on about. I was not speaking directly to you when I first complimented Annie, in any case. Not sure why you seem angry...?

I got my Dooney, it’s adorable. I kept some of the stuffing in for storage so it didn’t get flattened.

Finally had a chance to grab a few pics from my Dec trip. I got lots and lots of compliments on my dresses, which was very nice. I was going to load all of the magic shots I got to that thread - but now they dont matter.
