The dress code at Palo

We have had a lot of "dress code" arguments over the years and I'm sure the cruise mods will hug me for posting this

{{{HUGS}}} Alex! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Excellent...nobody would try to wear jeans to V&A's at GF and if you want the great food at Palo, then dress up a little. It isn't that hard!

Kudos to the Palo castmembers for sticking to their policy!

It warms my heart to learn they are enforcing the dress code!!!!! Palo is a special restaurant and part of the atmosphere is the dressing up. We throughly enjoyed our experience (my DH rented a tux for the week). Disney has the most casual dress code in all other areas....and I really appreciated it. Our close friends sailed on the "other" lines, and she took 4 formals.

DH is the clothes police in our house and usually tells me what to wear...lol Anyway....

We don't get to dress up much and we looked forward to our Palo night(s).

We were on the same cruise as Alex. And had dinner in Palo on two occassions...Friday night being the one I'm writing about.

We were seated in a booth/chair table for two. Right in my
eyesight was a couple..she was dressed in all black, as was he.
Only he was not wearing a jacket. He looked extremely out of place, as every other man had a jacket on. The outfit...I'm sure it was a silk shirt, and very expensive....but it was black and no jacket. Didn't seem to be bothering him though.

I know he didn't have jeans on...but like everyone else has said....come on...once a year wear a jacket.

Just MHO....

If they expect the guys to wear jackets, then what do they women wear...just basically anything except jeans ?

ChattyKathy-

What would you wear if you were going to a fine restaurant (maybe a $50 entree place) at home? Dress up as you would for a special evening out, and you'll be perfect!

Pretend it's a date.

;)

What is the dress code?

Not on your life, I'd rather go naked.

Now that's a visual! There is that "clothing optional" restaurant at Key West, Dean!! When are you cruising Western again?
(Inquiring minds!)

As for Palo's dress code, I enjoy the atmosphere there when I can look around and everyone is "decked out to the nines". Just gives it a sophisticated flavor.

Oh my. Some things just shouldn't be.

gotta go with 3 circles here....unless there is a doorman who decides who gets in, there are some things I DON'T want to see!

I think I'll pass on that too as long as I have a choice. I'd still like to know the official dress code for PALO.

Dean, I think the word on Palo dinner dress "jackets and ties for the gentlemen, dresses or pantsuit for the ladies."

There have been many arguments here regarding what a dress code means, and what constitutes a RULE vs. a guideline or suggestion. Makes some of us a little gun-shy about these questions!

What's appropriate for Palo dinner is to dress as if you're going to a classy restaurant at home... sort of upscale resort casual. Not as if you're going to a theme park, or as if you've just come in from the pool. :p

Palo has an elegant ambiance, and I think you'll enjoy your evening there.

According to the Navigators on our 7-night Disney Magic cruise in 2002, under Palo (for dinner) for the 5 nights that are not formal or semi-formal, it says:

(Suggested Dress: Jackets Recommended, no shorts or Jeans please)

Some folks on this board seem to think that men must wear a tie or a suit or even a tuxedo to Palo. While it's fine to wear any of those things, that's clearly not what Disney says.

I chose to wear dress slacks, a dress shirt with tie, and a summer sport coat. But that was my choice.

I found it useful to have a summer sport coat on the ship — if for no other reason than to deal with some of the over-air-conditioned spaces, such as dining rooms and night clubs.

Thanks Werner, that's what I wanted, the actual wording. Now I know not to wear shorts or jeans and can make my own decisions about what to take and wear. While I own a tux and will likely take it on the cruise, my usual church atire is a nice pull over and dockers. Even to a very fancy restaurant, I'd only wear a jacket if it were required or a special occasion or more likely go to another restaurant. Since this will likely be my wife's Birthday celebration, I'll likely wear a sport coat (have to take it anyway), I'll decide later about the tie. Thanks again.

My impression is that Palo is less formal than formal night. As Werner said you will see suits and tuxes but you definitely will not feel uncomfortable with a Polo shirt and jacket

OK we have a big trip planned in May. 25 people. Inlaws Outlaws and everyone else who tags along. I am the The Cruise Director they call me Julie. (THE LOVE BOAT.) Anyway they were asking yesterday about Dress code on the ship. We will be on a 4 day land 3 day sea trip on the Wonder. We have Grandma's and Grandpa's that I am sure by the time we get on the ship after 4 days in the parks will most definitely want to go to dinner with no grandchildren at least once. Would you suggest I tell them to wear a shirt and tie with or with out a jacket. If you don't wear a tie what would be OK. Would Khakis and a nice shirt and dress shoes. My DH would rather be to dressed up than be sent away for not dressed enough I don't worry about him. All the men that are going dress very well when they go to a nice place. But we are trying to keep the luggage to a minimum. I don't want to stir a debate If you all think that they should take ties and a jacket I will tell them to pack them. We all like to go with the flow. We don't want to stick out like sore thumbs. Thanks a lot you guys have been a big help finding all the details.
