The dreaded colonoscopy prep is up on me.

Just make sure if you have 2 bathrooms you put a reserved sign on the closest one.

I never had to do the liquid my DR gave me pills, next time since I am now over 55 I have to do liquid. I am so looking to it.

My DH had to do the liquid and he would just chug as much as he could keep down then sip a nice LI Iced tea - mad it much more enjoyable.:rotfl:

I just had mine done Tuesday at 3:15 p.m. That was a hungry day with no food since Sunday dinner.

I did the GoLytly again because my DH had one done about 2 months ago with SuPrep and the prep didn't work completely and there was too much "debris" to complete the colonoscopy, so he is having one again this coming Monday.

When that happened, I asked for the GoLytly because I knew it worked for me 5 years ago. I started Monday night about 7:00, went to bed about 11:00 p.m. and had to do the second half starting at 9:15 a.m. (6 hours before procedure). It isn't my favorite day, but since colon cancer killed my grandmother, I will do what it takes to prevent the same.

Part 1 is done. The go lightly with the lemon crystal light tasted like a third rate margarita. Thank you for all the tips. Very much appreciated.

Its been years since my dr has used that gallon of slime water to drink- had one done this year and it was using a prep called prepopik- around 4pm 5 ounces of water with lacket of prep mixed in then five glasses of plain water over 5 hours. Then 9pm repeat it but just 3 glasses of plain water over the next few hours. It wasnt so bad- i can deal with all the water just not that gallon of salty slime water with the old prep.

This. Prepopik is so much better than the other stuff. 2 5 oz. drinks and clear liquids all day. It was really simple and easy to take. Here is a pic. It is a prescription and not sure if insurance pays for it but I got a free one from my Dr. office. I tell everyone about it.

This is what I was given - have not tried it yet - about 2/3 more weeks. Prescription also.IMG_2645.JPGIMG_2645.JPG

The suprep is good. I used it before. It tastes vile, but you only have to drink 2 glasses of it, if I remember correctly. The rest you have to drink is a lot, but it's just water. I threw up with the Half Lytely. It was about 9 glasses of awful vile stuff. I was fine with suprep.

I hope I can drink it!!!!

You will be fine. Like I said, it tastes awful, but the way you have to do it is soooooooo much better than the other preps (besides miralax, that is easy). It's only two glasses, and they are spaced out, then water. I remember feeling very full from all the water, but no nausea.

So, today went well. Things were running behind(no pun intended) so I went back an hour after I was supposed to. I was so anxious about feeling things. After I got the versed and the fentinyl, I was out for a little bit. When I did wake up, it was halfway through the procedure and it was totally painless. I'm home now and I slept hard for two hours. Overall, the prep wasn't bad. Not pleasant, but doable. Thanks for all the tips and encouragement. Oh, no polyps and just one biopsy of the ilial juncture that I had resected last year.

Thank you for the update. Glad all went well!!!

Okay I have two 6 oz bottles - I pour the 6 oz into the 16 oz cup. Fill to the 16 oz line with water. I drank this at 3pm. Took almost 20 minutes. Tasted nasty. Did not think I could finish it. I need to drink more water now? I take the other 6oz doze (with water) again at 9pm. Then follow up with water again? How much water can I drink. I hope I can drink the other 16 oz again later. Really tastes nasty. I prefer the Dulcalox prep. I will tell the doctor in the morning it tastes nasty.

I even tried brushing my teeth. Still bad taste. Just sent hubby out to get some hard candy.

Are you doing Suprep? I did that one and if I remember correctly, I poured the bottle of nasty stuff into the provided cup, then filled to the line with water. Drink it, I think within a half hour. Then I filled the cup with just water and had to drink the plain water within a half hour. Then for the second dose, I had to do the same thing at the appointed time. Each doctor does things a little differently, so make sure you look at your instructions that the dr. gave you. You are doing good if you got one dose down! The next one will be easy peasy! I just remembered feeling very very full.

Yes, doing the Suprep. I did go back to read that I had to drink an additional two 16 oz cups of water. I thought I would be starving but all this liquid is making me full and not want to put anything else in my mouth. Hubby bought butterscotch candy. I will also put one in my mouth in between drinking my second dose at 9pm. I can eat the candy but while drinking this Suprep - will also use the candy to kill the awful taste in my mouth so I can finish it. I can do this, I can do this......

Ah, so it's 2 more containers full of water. UGH. I remember it was a TON of liquid. I did it, but I remember being so very full. I didn't think I could finish the water but I did. I think you have 1/2 hour to drink the two 16oz containers of water. I remember thinking it was impossible LOL.

I just survived the second dose by throwing a butterscotch in my mouth for a few seconds and repeating drinking, placing candy back in my mouth. When the next five years come around, I am going to see what prep the doctors use or if there are other options even if I have to switch doctor. This really s.....ed.
Thank you Anniemae for being there for me lol.
