The double stroller debate...

I have a Baby Jogger City Select, which I love. It can be a single or a double, and has a buggy board.. so I technically could fit three kids on it at one time.

I have a three month old and a 2.5 year old. Both are not good stroller kids. The three month old likes to be worn most of the time. The 2.5 year old likes to walk. So, now I'm debating... bring the stroller as a single or double? As a double it is more challenging to fold, is much longer, etc.

I just would hate to bring it as a double and have NO CHILD in the stroller most of the time... haha!

Back in the day we called our double stroller the beast! I'd bring an umbrella stroller and rent if you have to!

Went when our first two were 4 months and 2.5. Neither good stroller kids either. So we took a single stroller (a nice umbrella one) and my Lillebaby. I wore the baby while we were doing all the rides and the toddler was content to ride the stroller from ride to ride. Then the baby napped there when she needed to stretch out a little bit, and we are lunch at that point. We also had enough hands so that if the stroller was empty we were all wrangling the 2.5 year old or giving her a piggy back ride.

We rented a double (the city select or whatever from Kindgom stroller rentals) for our 2 and 4 year olds the next time and it was such a burden pushing through the crowds.

I vote a single.

We had three trips with a baby and a single stroller. The bare;y 3 year old of the moment used the stroller and the baby was in the sling. The exception was one of the trips had a baby who could only sleep in the stroller, so the other child walked during that time. But, that wasn't very much time at all. Just make sure the single stroller is one that will work for either child. I would not do an umbrella stroller - but one that would work for either child. That way, you are covered.

I would bring the double. I took my 6 month old last summer and while he liked being in the carrier. I would also keep him in the stroller sometimes, so he was in the shade. He would wear a hat, but his arms and legs would be exposed to the sun most of the time in the carrier. It was hot! so I didn't want him in pants or long sleeves.

Also, its nice to be able to put the baby down (eat dinner, look for sippie cupsetc) and you can't do that if the oldest is napping in the stroller. You will also have extra gear with two small kids. You can always use the extra seat for that.

I'm mobile so I don't know if you have a signature that says when you're going, but I just want to mention for me at least, baby wearing at Disney in 90 degree weather is not an option. This may not be an issue for you or your child, so please feel free to completely disregard if I'm way off base.

The other option is what about renting a city mini double? They're pretty narrow, less cumbersome to fold, and should be easier to handle when half or completely empty.

That may not be something you want to do or feel is necessary, particularly since I know the select is pretty awesome.

I was just there 3 weeks ago with my 12 week old and 2.5 year old. I don't have stroller kids either for the same reason. That's said, I was glad to have the double stroller. Yes, one of us was often pushing around an empty stroller, but there were times where one or both of them were in it. I was glad to have the break of having the baby in the carrier when she was content in the stroller for a bit.

I'd say if your oldest enjoys walking, bring an umbrella stroller for the 3 month old. When moving around disney, I want to be as compact as possible.

If your 2.5 yo likes the board I will bring single plus board and carrier. That will make the stroller compact and give you flexibility. No way a 2.5 yo will be able to walk everywhere.
I have done disney with and umbrella stroller and with an uppababy vista. I disagree on bringing and umbrella, although compact they are not as easy to push as a good stroller. Plus you will need a good basket and sunshade with kids that age. Even if you have no child at some point in the stroller you will have diaper bag, plus change of clothes, snacks, sippy cups, etc.

I'd wear baby & hand-hold toddler with no stroller at all. Several diapers & a pack of wipes in my bag, & any other gear stored in a locker.

My strolling-hating youngest begged to be in a stroller at Disney. She didn't mind it all. And my then 5 year old wanted a stroller in the evenings because she was so tired. So...we took 1 stroller during the day and 2 strollers at night.

I would definitely bring the stroller, and I would bring it as a double. Your 2.5 year old will most likely need a stroller at Disney. Depending on your touring style, it is a LOT of walking. During our last trip, we walked on average 5 miles a day and this trip was more relaxing than our usual trips. I would bring the stroller as a double because you may be tried and want a place to put the baby. I love baby wearing, but even little ones can get heavy after a day of wearing them. When you are walking that far everyday, you may want a place to put the baby to give you a rest. Also, I'm not sure when you are going, but FL can be very hot. I took my baby carrier last May for my infant, but I didn't wear except at night as it was just too hot during the day. When you are walking that far everyday, you may want a place to put the baby to give you a rest.

I would rent a double stroller from a stroller rental company I would not bring the City Select. I have that stroller and it will be a huge pain in the rear if you need to take the shuttle back to your resort. You have to fold it up every time and with that one you have to take the seats off and then you're going to be holding all these stroller parts on a crowded bus. You couldn't pay me to bring that stroller.
