This morning DH wakes me up saying he needs to go look for the dog, because "she escaped".
Well, what really happened is that he is too lazy to put her on her chain, and she ran away! I have been telling him and telling him that she NEEDS to be chained up! His response: "She always comes back for me".
Well YEAH.....It's 20 degrees outside and 6" of snow!!! Of COURSE she'll come back then!!!
Not anymore! Today is the most beautiful spring day, and she took off!
Sooooo he proceeds to leisurely dress, brush his teeth and comb his hair, THEN goes to look for the dog.
I'm so ticked (not the word I want to use) right now. Then, he's out there like a moron shaking the dog treat container and whistling!!!
She has NEVER responded to a whistle, YOU HAVE TO CALL HER NAME!!!!

So, he and DD are out there for an hour looking for her, can't find her, SO HE CALLS THE POLICE!!!!!
I say: "yeah, like they don't have anything better to do than look for our dog."
His response? "Well she said they could find her!"

So, now I'm probably going to get cited for dog at large, and failure to wear dog tags on the dog.
Please don't lecture me on the tags: She's only 9lbs and they irritate her so she scratches all the time. Precisely the reason I make absolute SURE she gets chained up to do her business.
I'm going to kill DH.
So, while he's out looking for the dog, I start getting ready for work (we own our own business) because I figure he'll use going to work as an excuse to stop looking for the dog and leave me and the girls to deal with it.
So, I'm at work now and I call home and DD says "Daddy's eating breakfast."
I don't know why but that peeved (again, not the word..) me off so bad!!!! :furious:
I go to work so he can look for the dog and HE'S NOT EVEN LOOKING!!! Aarrrrggghhh!!
What the heck is the matter with him?

I can understand why you're upset. That's a member of the family that's lost out there.

Hey, I understand. It would irritate the CRAP out of me. We have two dogs that are ALWAYS looking for a way out of the yard. For some reason, my DH never thinks it's really necessary to totally slide the bolt through the gate lock. He just shuts the gate and the bolt sits in the little latch. It's a wooden fence so any kind of wind will cause the gate to fly open. If the dogs nudging it will cause it to come open. I can't tell you how many times they get out. And of course, DH is almost NEVER home when it happens and I end up roaming the neighborhood looking for the dogs. I'm terrified that the dogs will get hit by a car.

Thanks guys for letting me vent. I am soooo worried she'll get hit. She has absolutely no fear of the street. She's only 9lbs so if she did get hit......well, you know.
They still haven't found her. DD had to go to martial arts class, and DH is with her.
My Dsis is taking her dog over to look for her. The dogs are sisters and enjoy playing with each other. Dsis is hoping she can find her that way.
Wish us luck.

Don't forget to call the animal shelters in the area if someone found her they would probably take her there. Let your neighbors know if you haven't already, my DD is was always going on her bike to help the neighbors when their young spaniel would find a way under the fence. She found her twice on her bike!

And yes if the police find her and they are in a bad mood you may be fined.
