The doctor says came back normal

Thank you all. I appreciate all the thoughts. My plan is take the new medicine, the nexium for the next two weeks while my GI here looks over everything from old GI which had done the HIDA scan and the scope down the throat thingy.

I have a few things that will make me sick no matter what including pork, pizza, eggs, and if I eat alot of meat. My gallbladder is functioning at 48% and shows no signs of stones. Supposedly everything is moving out the way it is supposed to.

This sick thing has been going on since January. Actually it was like January 14 at night when I had my first belching issue and then really sick and haven't looked back. Only reason I remember is because we were watching american idol try outs lol The actual vomiting and pain aren't that big of a deal but since I've been sick in January my blood pressure has started being higher than my normal which causes me concern.

I can't get another GI as I just got this one after 4 months of waiting for a doctor appointment with my regular doctor to get the paperwork to see the GI.

I'm just tired of banging my head against this wall. I know something is wrong but I guess nothing obvious is pointing the way. I need that magic 8 ball

Poor Tina! I thought sure it was your gall bladder because your symptoms were so like mine. I hope you feel better soon. Maybe the Nexium will do the trick. My husband was sick for a long time until he was diagnosed with GERD, and daily Prilosec has made a world of difference for him.

My DD has gone through this for several years, so I know exactly what you're talking about.. I can't tell you how many times they "thought" they knew what the problem was - only to have the results come back "normal".. And like you, she would just sit and cry.. It's SO frustrating!!

Aside from her injuries from the car accident she was in back in 2006, she has had her gallbladder removed, appendix removed, has had shingles more times than I can count, has received a definitive diagnosis of fibromyalgia, and is now having liver problems..

It's frustrating, but you just have to keep right on complaining until someone - somewhere - takes it seriously and gets to the bottom of it..

I hope you can get some answers - SOON..

Ugh, I hate it when doctors prescribe anti-depressants to women when they can't figure out what else to do. :sad2:

My old doctor did that to me when I was having chest pains that didn't seem to be a problem with my heart. Even though my blood pressure was sky-high at my appointments, he didn't consider that I might be having chronic blood pressure problems outside of the doctor's office. It took a visit to the specialist to figure out it was blood pressure causing the problem. Anti-depressants were not necessary.

Hope you get it figured out soon!

I know your pain. This happened to me 5 yrs ago and I also had all those test you had. All were normal and what they figured was I was just a mental case and nothing was wrong. I was losing 2 lbs a day. My PCP told me I bet its IBS and he gave me an antispasm meds and it helped, plus a low fat, nofat, no sugar, etc. Basicly you eat nothing. It did clear up ,but came back this May. Well , I am on the Baby food and IBS diet and I feel so good. I lost wt right away, but no more since. But I have lost 3 sizes and still going. I cannot take those antispasm meds because of the bad side effects. The diet is great and makes sense. The baby food is something I did so my stomach would not have to work and its easier for me to carry my food with me. The diet is broke down in two sections: soluble food, rice, sweet potatoes(baby ones is great),squash, potatoes, french bread and there are more. You eat this first before eating insoluble food. Also I take Fibercon too. All this keeps your tummy happy and you don't get bloated. The book that explains all this is by Heather Van Vorous. Even if its not IBS, eating this food first ,will help calm your tummy. Let me know if you need anymore info

(((Tina)))

I was going to ask if your iron had been tested? Not in a CBC but a complete iron check? My body doesn't make iron (or does it really slow), and it also does not absorb iron.
Because of this I was so tired. I found out my metabolism was at ZERO. :( I have to get iron transfusions for the rest of my life, but I finally feel alive and AWAKE! Oh what a difference it made.

I know it could just be one thing going on with you, but it wouldn't hurt to get your iron checked *really* well, especially because of the vomiting and foods your not able to eat...?

I'm sorry you have to go through this. Definately get a blood test for food allergies, and get checked for Celiac disease. IBS makes sense too, but I think that would have come up in one of the other tests. I'm hoping you get this figured out soon!

Have you thought about Celiac disease? An intolerance to gluten. That may be the culprit. I've known people who were like this for years and years and it took forever to get a diagnosis.

But regardless, I hope you feel better soon!

Tina - I am so sorry you are sick. I know how frustrating it is to not be able to get answers from the people that are supposed to help you. I will send up a prayer for you and I hope that you get some answers soon.

Hang in there and keep fighting. You need a better doctor. I noticed you live in No. VA--I was living there too when I had a major medical problem. The doctor wanted to send me down the street to Tyson's hospital to be treated; instead I did my research and found out that the nation's BEST doctor for my problem (a certain kind of cancer) was at Georgetown Univ. Hospital. Going there to be treated by him saved my life, literally.

Like you, I knew there was a problem and prior to being dx I was blown off several times by the doctors in the practice I was seeing. You know there's something wrong so don't give up. Only you care the most about you; you have to become your own advocate. Do research, explore the other avenues of dx and then go to the best hospital/doctor you can find. Wishing you all the best and lots of hugs too.

PS. My baby ds wasn't gaining weight and they have run the gamut of tests on him, including many of the ones previous posters have listed. Celiacs, cystic fibrosis, urinalysis, thyroid function, para-thyroid cancer, plus a complete work-up by a leading endocrinologist (once again, when it seemed there was a problem, I asked for a referral to the best teaching hospital in our state). We've also had to see a pediatric gastro-enterologist and had a consult with a liver specialist.

I'm guessing you have had lots of labs run. Have you asked for copies of everything? If not, you need to, and read them. Get a copy of your lab/x-ray/path reports too. Go over them carefully and see if there are any abnormal counts, it might be a starting place. Remember, doctors often edit what they tell their patients if they think something is insignificant. You need to know what is actually in your labs.

How about gluten free diet?

You sound just like a friend of mine. She was finally diagnoses with an EGD with biopsy...

Sounds similar to my BFF, she was sick all the time, felt bloated and gross when she wasn't being sick.....after 3 years they diagnosed her with Celiac's......maybe try cutting gluten from your diet and see what happens? I'm sorry you're not getting answers, I hope you feel better soon!

I'm sorry, Tina. I remember when this all started. I hope they're able to find out what's wrong sooner, rather than later.

When I did Weight Watchers they told us that if we lose weight too rapidly it can cause gallbladder problems, so if you have new pain in that area, be sure to let your doctor know.

Are you taking any type of medication on a regular basis. It could be anything from an allergy med to a sleep remedy. I had similar symptoms when I was taking Ambien. I stopped taking it and everything cleared up. Unfortunately, I gained back the 30 pounds I'd lost. Too bad!

Since we are throwing wacky suggestions out there....

I recall seeing a woman with similar symptoms on either Mystery Diagnosis or Diagnosis X (or something...). She went several years without a diagnosis and both the doctors and her husband were beginning to think she was a complete hypochondriac. Eventually it was discovered that she had intussusception, which is when the small intestines telescopes into the large intestine. Her problem was that it came and went so on previous scans it went undected. It is also something that usually happens in small kids.

Whatever it ends up being, I wish you a quick and CORRECT diagnosis!!!

Oh, Tina, few things are more frustrating than dealing with the unknown - and throw your health into the mix - ugh! I feel for you....hang in there.

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but on another "Mystery Diagnosis" episode on TLC, there was a woman who vomited all the time, even after gallbladder or appendix removal if I remember correctly. She had a medical condition called Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction. Tried to post a link to it, but I don't have enough posts, LOL. Do a Google search - the Johns Hopkins GI site has a very good explanation of it.

Not sure if you've been tested for this condition or not. Hope you get to the bottom of this soon.

Tina,

You must be a very patient person to go through all this. It's a lot to endure and I pray for strength for you and a quick resolution to the vomiting problem. Thinking of you...Karen
