The Disneymoon of My Dreams! **UPDATED 8/30/08!**

You seem like you had such a great trip! I love your excitement :yay:

I subbied!

Hi:wave2: I just found your TR and love it. I want to stay at the GF for my 25th anniversary and hopefully it will be a vow renewal at WDW. First, I want to say that your BM dresses are beautiful. I love the color. Second, you guys are too cute together. My DH isn't a big Disney fanatic like me either but we are going in 2009 for Thanksgiving and will be there hopefully for the Christmas decorations which I can't wait for. Here's to waiting for the next installment:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 popcorn::

TrueEeyore: Oh my gosh did we get a lot of free stuff that week! I can't wait to write about all the Pixie Dust! pixiedust: Let's just say we were on the Disney Dining Plan and we couldn't even use our snack credits because all the CM's just kept giving us everything for free! :woohoo: I guess they figure if you're willing to look that ridiculous and wear Minnie ears in the baking August heat, you've earned it! :rotfl: And I promise I'm working on the next installment - this week at work has just been horrific :sad2: but I'm hoping for a bit of a reprieve over the weekend. Stay tuned!

Jacklynn: Welcome!! Thanks for joining - it really was such a fun trip and I'm having so much fun sharing it! :thumbsup2 I hope to have the next installment up soon! :)

DisneyLaura: :wave2: Welcome!! I hope you do do your vow renewal at GF - it was really a beautiful and lovely place to relax and feel in love  You're lucky you have a trip on the horizon - I'm already dying to go back! And Disney World is just amazing at the holidays!! You'll have an amazing time :woohoo: And thanks for the compliments! I really loved how the BM's dresses turned out - I was pretty worried for a while that they were all going to look like ugly lime popsicles, but they all came out just as I had hoped for  Thanks for dropping by and I'll try to have the next installment up soon!

Hey girl. Just letting you know I'm waiting (kinda) patiently for the next update! :rolleyes1 :lmao:

Loving the updates. Philharmagic is always great, one of my favorites. Great job with all the pics!

Hey! I just found your report and I just want to let you know that I'm subscribing and I'll get caught up tonight. It looks great!

I know, I know!!! :scared1: I've been absolutely horrible about installments, but I'm still alive and if you can believe it, this is the first moment I've had to get on here and let y'all know that I'm alive!

I'm about to go to bed right now, but MERRY CHRISTMAS to all who are celebrating and I hope to be up with a new installment within the week :thumbsup2

Loved your last installment. What a great view from your room!!! I would love to be able to see the castle like that from my balcony. I take pictures of every float during Spectromagic too. It's the best parade. Waiting for more popcorn:: .

Day 3, Part I – August 14, 2007

Today we were headed off to MGM for a taste of that old Hollywood glamour! I had done all my TGM and Birnbaum researching and supposedly MGM was the best place to be for the day. I have to start off by saying MGM is the least favorite of the four parks for me because I’m not that into the live-action shows and stuff, but there was no way I was not going to go at all! :goodvibes Plus, Tigger had never been – when he came, there was only Magic Kingdom and Epcot, so he had to at least see what the place looked like and good thing we did!

Here we are waiting at the bus stop first thing in the morning – it was already really hot and humid so the camera was fogging up! Oh, and I should probably mention at this point, you'll see a big band-aid on my neck in all the pictures - that was to cover the burn I gave myself as I was curling my hair for our rehearsal dinner! Thank goodness the makeup artist was able to cover it up for the day of the wedding, but it unfortunately did really start to hurt and blister during the honeymoon :( Hence the bandage in all the honeymoon photos!

Anyways, we arrived fairly close to opening time and headed in:

IMG_0187.jpg

IMG_0188-1.jpg

Of course, the first place we headed was toward RnRC and ToT!

IMG_0190-1.jpg

I’m not a huge fan of ToT because I’m terrified of heights and don’t like that dropping feeling, but I figured I should drag DH on to make sure he had the full MGM experience :lmao: Well, we got fastpasses to ToT first and then went and got in line for RnRC. The line was surprisingly long already, but there was no way it was getting any shorter so we waited. And good thing we did!!! Right before we were set to walk into the room with the studio bit, we spotted a bunch of Dream Team folks standing on the side to our left. We chatted with them and they asked us where we were from and stuff, but then we just waited around a while longer and they stood there not really doing anything. I was starting to lose hope when the door opened to let us into the room and the line started to move forward, but suddenly one of the Dream Team folks walked in front of us to stand on our right and another member stepped up on our left. The one on the right pulled out a counter and the one on the left suddenly pulled out a huge bunch of lanyards with…DREAM FASTPASSES!!! Yayyyyy!!! :cool1:

IMG_0191-1.jpg

What a way to start off the day! We were ecstatic and felt so lucky to be in the right place at the right time! :thumbsup2

Anyways, we finally got onto RnRC and Tigger absolutely loooved it! He wasn’t a big roller coaster fan until recently and this one is now definitely tops in his book. That initial take-off is something else and we loved that the soundtrack works so well with the excitement of the ride. We checked out our picture afterward and it was so funny that I was suckered into buying it. Unfortunately I don’t have it in digital form, just the printed version or I’d post it!

So after RnRC, we started heading toward ToT, but Tigger started to think maybe we didn’t need to ride that after all. He has acid reflux and gets heartburn really easily and he was worried that in combination with the loops of RnRC, he might get some nasty heartburn. Plus I think maybe he was picking up on my trepidation even though I was trying to put on a brave face! :rotfl:

As we walked back toward the rest of the park, we ran into some characters in the streets:

IMG_0194-1.jpg

IMG_0195.jpg

They were a blast, especially the cop – I really felt like I was getting into trouble until he told us congratulations! :lmao: We headed over toward The Great Movie Ride. For some reason, the line for this ride is deceptively long. They said the wait time was 15 minutes but it ended up being closer to 45 minutes. We got the cowboy version which was nice because the last time I went on it I got the gangster version. We had a good time and I snapped a picture of Tigger in the Wizard of Oz part:

IMG_0196-1.jpg

By this time, it was time for our ADR at Prime Time – I had made a super early ADR because we had an early ADR at the Brown Derby as part of the Fantasmic package later that night. So we got to Prime Time and got checked in and seated. I had never been to PTC and I thought all the kitschy touches were so cute and fun. We took a few pictures:

IMG_0199-1.jpg

Tigger had the chicken breast sandwich with a real cherry coke which he absolutely loved, and I had the fish sandwich and a chocolate milkshake which was super tasty! Say bye-bye to the wedding diet!!! :lmao:

Up next: Afternoon at MGM and does the weather hold for Fantasmic?!?

Day 3, Part II – August 14, 2007

We finished off our yummy lunches and headed over toward the other side of the park. I had never been to the Muppet 3-D show and knew that it was something I definitely wanted to see this time. Tigger and I both grew up watching the Muppets and have such fond memories of the corny jokes and silly antics of Kermit and Ms. Piggy and the crew. I particularly love Beaker :goodvibes So we made our way over and it was pretty calm so we took some time to investigate the fountain:

IMG_0202.jpg

IMG_0203.jpg

Do you see the resemblance between me and Miss Piggy? I hope not!! :rotfl:

IMG_0204.jpg

Of course once we got inside, we had to do the thing from the Fans’ Guide to WDW show and look for the key under the mat!

IMG_0205.jpg

I loved all the details they included:

IMG_0206.jpg

IMG_0207.jpg

Of course we had to take the requisite ridiculous 3-D glasses picture :3dglasses

IMG_0208.jpg

I enjoyed the show, though the newer 3-D shows have made some pretty cool improvements. I think I may have loved the two old guys sitting up in the box seats the most :rotfl: It was also nice just to cool off in the air-conditioning for a while given the intense heat outside! Anyways, after the show, we emerged back into the sunlight and Kermit bid us farewell:

IMG_0209.jpg

We made a quick stop in NYC:

IMG_0212.jpg

IMG_0213.jpg

And then it was off to a galaxy far, far away…where we saw *gasp*

IMG_0215.jpg

He was accompanied by his evil minions...who were strangely friendly and accommodating ;)

IMG_0214.jpg

We enjoyed a bumpy ride through some rough territories, but made it out okay in the end! I still think the Star Tours ride is pretty cool – not the most exciting ride ever, but a good dose of fun with a dash of irreverence and a touch of nausea :lmao: After Star Tours, we were pretty beat from the crazy heat and the crowds of people. We had to come back in a few hours for our dinner at the Brown Derby and Fantasmic anyways, so we decided to head back to the hotel for an afternoon swim and some much-needed showers. On our way out of the park, we ran into a few wacky workers on the street:

IMG_0216.jpg

What a great way to end the first part of our day at MGM!

Up next: It starts to pour…do we get rained out of Fantasmic?!?

Really great update! How dare you call it MGM. You know it's 'Hollywood Studios' now! :snooty: LOL
Don't feel bad, it's our least favorite park also. Not that we dislike it, it's just not a favorite. We still have to go to it though. How can you not? :thumbsup2
I have to admit, I thought your burn was a honeymoon hickey LOL. :rolleyes1 I wasn't gonna say nothin, but....:rotfl: Sorry!
I'm sorry it was hurting. I've burned myself like that before on my forehead and it doesn't feel good. :headache:

You don't look a thing like Miss Piggy!

BTW, I started a pre-TR if you ever want to check it out :thumbsup2 Shameless plug, sorry! :flower3: Link in sig!

Can't wait for your next update! :surfweb:

Just found your trip report and am enjoying it thoroughly! It brings back good memories of my Disneymoon back in '01. (Yes, another disneymooner!:bride: )

We went again in '06 for our anniversary and will be heading down this coming July :cool1: for our first trip as DVC members! This time we'll be taking my parents and grandmother with us for part of the trip.

Like you, I have SO many fond memories of Disney from when I was a kid. Our grandparents used to take my sister and I frequently when we were growing up. I'm so excited to be taking my parents and grandmother (my grandfather will be with us in spirit). Even though I consider myself to be a bit of an expert with the parks, I've been researching like CRAZY because I want everyone to love it as much as I do!

I'm looking forward to your next update!:goodvibes

Oh dear, pardonez-moi!! ;) I guess I need to get with the times and start thinking of it as Hollywood Studios. It feels weird to think of it as anything except MGM though!

I knew people were going to think it was a hickey! :lmao: it was really unfortunate, though, and it stressed me out sooo much right before the wedding because I wasn't sure the makeup artist was going to be able to cover it! Luckily, it all worked out fine, but I was sooo kicking myself for giving myself the biggest burn I've ever had!

You don't look a thing like Miss Piggy!
Awww, thanks! :goodvibes Although now that the wedding diet is but a faint memory and the Boston winter is in full swing, the Miss Piggy vibes are coming back! :rotfl:

I'll check out your pre-trippy! Next update should be up tonight! Thanks for staying with me!

I know DH and I will probably never call it Hollywood Studios. Just doesn't feel right.
Can't wait for the update! :thumbsup2

Thanks for joining in! And another Disneymooner to boo! I love hearing that other people also went to WDW for their honeymoons so I don't feel like such a weirdo for dragging us there :lmao: Where did you stay when you went? And I want to hear about your upcoming trip - what's the plan, Stan? ;) Congrats on becoming DVC members!! I have a feeling that might be something we consider very seriously in the future if I continue on the Disney trend  It would be lovely to think of WDW as a home away from home and to be able to give our kids experiences like your grandparents were able to give you! And how sweet that you get to take them there with you now! :goodvibes

Thanks for jumping in and I'll have the next installment up shortly!

Day 3, Part III – August 14, 2007

Well, we went back to the hotel with every intention of cooling off with a nice swim in the pool, but as soon as we got back, I lay down on the comfy cool bed and was OUT! DH let me sleep for about an hour or so and even lay down with me for a bit and took this picture before he woke me up:

IMG_4060-1.jpg

Haha :rotfl: I have absolutely no recollection of this and was probably drooling profusely onto the bedspread. :rolleyes1 Oh well! So clearly we needed the nap and after we got up, we took our showers and felt much refreshed to head back over for our evening at MGM, ahem, Hollywood Studios. We arrived and went straight to check in at Brown Derby for our ridiculously early dinner reservation. It’s one gripe I have with the Fantasmic dinner package – the only times they have are seemingly before 5:30! :confused3 Oh well, we had to wait probably half an hour, so by the time we actually sat down to eat, we had enough appetite to do some damage :)

We were seated in the elevated area where we had a great view of the whole restaurant. Here’s Tigger trying to look sophisticated:

IMG_0218.jpg

I got some yummy butternut squash soup for the appetizer and DH got some type of ravioli which was yummy.

IMG_0221.jpg

Tigger got the wine flight:

IMG_0223.jpg

He looks excited here, but actually the wines didn’t turn out to be very good :sad2: Oh well. I got some salmon dish which was good and DH got a duck and sausage dish which was extremely rich. And then before dessert we got some pixie dust! The waitress sent over some champagne to celebrate us being on our honeymoon:

IMG_0226.jpg

That was so nice! Tigger enjoyed the champagne with his dessert:

IMG_0227.jpg

I got the grapefruit cake, which was a bit too bitter for my taste. :scared: Oh well, I had to try it after hearing all the chatter on the DIS and now I can say I’ve tried it! Overall, I have to say that while I enjoyed the décor and theming at the Brown Derby, I am really glad we didn’t pay out of pocket for the food! It was 2 TS credits each on the dining plan, but we had budgeted that into our eating plan so it was fine and I was curious to see what it was like, but really the food was not worth the amount it would have cost.

Aaanyways, onto more rides before Fantasmic! We still had quite a few hours to fill and some Dream Fastpasses burning up around our necks! I really wanted to see Voyage of the Little Mermaid because I love the movie and didn’t see the show the last time I was at MGM. DH probably wasn’t that excited to see the show, but just as he opened his mouth to complain, the skies opened up and it started to pour cats and dogs! Luckily, the Little Mermaid theatre is right near Brown Derby so we just dashed over and got under the awning in the fastpass line – gotta love those Dream Fastpasses! There were some poor soaked people hiding pathetically under an umbrella stand in front of the theatre, but unfortunately for them, there was absolutely no room left under the Little Mermaid awning as everyone was already packed in like sardines! Finally we made it into the waiting area and had to wait about another 15 minutes in the holding pen – it started to get a bit unpleasant as there were many screaming, unhappy, wet kids running around and everyone was jockeying for a better position near the doors at the front. Not necessarily the best moment of the trip  Anyways, we eventually made it in and the show started. I thought it was really cute and I liked all the bright colors and how they achieved the underwater effect in the theatre overall – I have to say, though, it made me really look forward to see the Nemo show at AK in a few days!

After our voyage with the Little Mermaid, we beat a path back over toward RnRC. Luckily, it had been a typical summer Florida storm and the rain had passed as quickly as it arrived. Tigger was hankering for another adrenaline rush and we still had Dream Fastpasses so we could get on quick before heading over to Fantasmic. Again, we absolutely *loved* it and I remembered to get a “redneck” shot of our photo at the end:

IMG_0236.jpg

Nice, huh? :rotfl: Well, after our exciting trip with Aerosmith, we finally started heading over toward the Fantasmic area. Here’s Tigger clearing a path:

IMG_0237.jpg

We were on the late side because we knew we had reserved seats with the dinner package, but I nevertheless felt stressed just seeing all the herds of people stomping off toward the show! There happened to be some huuuuge group of young college-age kids at WDW that week as part of some recruitment trip for some big company. I’m talking like maybe a couple thousand kids! They blocked off two or three whole sections at Fantasmic for them and I saw them all week at our hotel with their nametags and paraphernalia. Anyways, we entered behind a big bunch of these kids and found our way over to our section. We ended up practically in the last row, but we were happy nonetheless:

IMG_0240.jpg

After a few delays, the show finally began! I took a bunch of photos, but without flash a lot of them are pretty blurry:

IMG_0242.jpg

IMG_0255.jpg

IMG_0253.jpg

IMG_0251.jpg

It was the first time either of us had seen Fantasmic and we both loved it! DH loved how energetic and excited Mickey was! He thought it was adorable that Mickey got so into all his arm motions and I thought it was adorable that DH thought it was adorable! An all-around big thumbs-up from us. :thumbsup2

Finally we made our way back toward the hotel and we were greeted by yet another bit of pixie dust – this is what we found upon returning to our beautiful room!

IMG_0257.jpg

IMG_0258.jpg

The strawberries were delicious and as you already know, chocolate-covered strawberries are Tigger’s favorite treat in the world, so he was in heaven! What a way to cap off a fantastic day! We sat out on the balcony enjoying our dreamy view of the Magic Kingdom while eating our yummy treat and we just felt like the luckiest people on the planet!

Here’s a closing shot of the view we enjoyed:

Up next: Day 4 at…EPCOT!
