Great to hear everyone's stories. Especially those of you with many pounds to lose. I am going to try to lose about 20 total, 10 by the trip and 10 afterward. Of course it's the same twenty I have sent packing three times now (once before kids, and once after each child!!)...but it keeps sneaking back!
I think a good way to try fun treats while in the park is to maybe just set a limit. Like, "one treat a day" whether it's a Dole Whip or a corn dog or whatever. Just one. Then watch what you eat and how much you eat all the rest of the day. Or, if you are with your family and you have kids or a hubby that you can share with, you can make them a deal that you will have "one" bite of whatever THEY get so you can try it. Remember how much walking you are doing, if you watch what you do but still enjoy you shouldn't gain any weight on the trip.
We went out to a dinner last night and ended up getting the "chef's dinner" where they bring out lots of items and you share them family-style. It was great for me because I literally tasted everything--fattening or no--and probably ate less food than if I got a regular sized dinner and it sat there in front of me compelling me to eat every bite. I put one or two bites of everything onto my plate and tried it all. Even dessert! But because it was just one bite it didn't feel bad to me at all. That's where I think "sharing" the treats comes into play...it's self-regulated as it's not just "yours" to gobble up!!
Keep up the inspiration people!
