Hi,
Just checked the website below and it looks like the Repo cruises will call at Gibraltar in May and August.

Magic

Mick.

:smooth:

Cheers, i have been trying and i'm not being patient for the info to come through.

Any ideas when the news will filter through

The 10/11 night cruises are about what we've paid to cruise to the Canaries next month albeit 13 nights but the transatlanic repositioning cruise are very good value.

I like the look of the cruise which takes the ship back to USA.

I wonder if they would accept DVC points for these cruises.

Hi there Gill. I have to ask - who have you been comparing DCL with? From what I've seen, their prices are definitely above the majority and you can get much better vfm elsewhere. If you want to see the Med, there must be 12 other cruise lines who could do this itinerary at least as well, and a lot cheaper. And, if you want to try DCL, you'd be much better off sticking with their Caribbean cruises. I think the prices they're offering for a very ordinary 10-night Med itinerary are quite outrageous - $6,000 (for 2) in a standard outside cabin? Without flights?? Not me, thanks! :teeth:

Well!!!
I have to say I think the med cruises are expensive - thats going to be a very expensive trip for a family travelling from the States.
I like the look of the westbound - the price is very good.
Thanks for the link Mandy.

Yes they do - I checked the DVC member website and it has the points on there!

We travel with P&O. We are going on the Canaries Collection on Arcadia on April 8th at just over £2500 pp for 13 nights. Yes we have a suite, but on Arcadia the suites are just reasonable sized cabins - not a separate bed room and sitting room. We do get Butler service as well as the usual cabin steward. The Med cruises with P&O are quite a bit more as Med port taxes are much more than the Canaries and especially the Caribbean where they are very cheap.

The DCL Med cruises are slightly more expensive than P&O, the repositioning cruises are good value - as I see it and considering what we pay.

Within our own budget constraints, we choose to pay for quality and service and it costs! You should look at Seven Seas Radisson and Silversea if you think DCL and P&O are costly.

Yes, and all your port taxes and transfers with P&O are included. With DCL they are ON TOP of those fares; then you have to get to and from Barcelona; and at places like Civitavecchia, La Spezia and Villefranche you virtually HAVE to take the ship excursions as there is nothing in the ports themselves, so the cost on top of the basic fare can easily be another $500- $1000 per person. I could do a Crystal Med cruise (in a lower grade cabin) for what Disney are charging for a Verandah cabin. And, while I'll freely admit the standard cabins on the likes of Royal Caribbean, NCL and MSC are less than generous in space terms, they don't justify such a big difference in price as the ships themselves are still very smart. I really think Disney have turned the price of these cruises WAY up because they know there are enough people really keen to sample DCL somewhere different, and that they won't have trouble filling just 10 cruises. I'm afraid I certainly wouldn't be among them :( And the service, cuisine and onboard style of Radisson (or Regent, as they now are), Silversea, Seabourn, SeaDream and Crystal are WAY above that of DCL. NCL, Celebrity and Holland America all have better food than Disney (albeit not the same restaurant style).

Oops - better get off my cruise soapbox - sorry!

Well, we'd pay the money for a repositioning cruise since the sea days are what we like - the ports are fairly irrelevant to us.

At the moment we like Arcadia as it's a childfree ship - so it's probably not for us, even so, if we wanted to try it - we would pay. I guess it all comes down to choice?

Completely OT but I'm almost 100% positive that's the one my Dad and Step-Mum are on :teeth:

I'll keep an eye out for your Mum and Dad Joh. :rotfl: How will I recognise them?

I came to the same conclusion. For the amount I would have to spend for category 3 on DCL, I can go on Seabourn or Radisson, where the level of service will be commensurate with the price.

But I have to thank DCL for putting the idea in my head so that I did the research. Just one visit to Seabourn's website will whet anyone's appetite for a cruise on one of their "yachts".

LOL at your cruise soapbox Simon :teeth:

I thought Port Taxes were included in the prices quoted on DCL's website? I've never paid extra for port taxes whilst I've been on a DCL, is it different for the Med cruise?

I personally KNOW that I could cruise in the Med for way cheaper if I did it with another cruise line but I'm not taking DCL Med cruise for cruising the Med, I'm taking the DCL one because it's a Disney Cruise and I want the characters and all that comes with the Disney Cruise - I just LOVE it and so that's what I'm paying for Disney. The good thing for me is that DCL will price out some people and I like that because it means that there's more opportunity for me to get the date and the cabin I want ;)
