Spencer,

I haven't had knee work, but I am a medical professional that works with many many surgeons. It sounds like you have something going on post surgery (leak, hemorrhage), especially if it is that different from the first time. If the surgeon's office keeps disregarding it, I'd head to the ER where the surgeon practices. Vicodin + NSAID should knock the pain down enough that you don't want to scream.

They took me in pretty fast today. And you are right, it was swollen with blood. They took 130 cc of blood out of the knee. Gave me a stronger prescription for diluted and took me off the over 50 asprin that thins the blood. They want you to take is so you don't have a blood clot. But it also means the wound doesn't clot.

Spencer,

I have an aunt on my mother's side who is in week 3 of recovery/rehab from knee surgery. Her husband and son (my cousin) refer to her as the "Iron Maiden" (an homage to Margaret Thatcher) because all she can do is grit her teeth and do her therapy because the alternative (once the pain gets bad enough to have the surgery) is not as rosy.

Hang in there, buddy.

@bama_ed thanks. It is going to be cold for standing around. Since it is only the 10k for me it will be cold the entire time. That means i can wear my good cold weather stuff to run and taking throw aways for standing around. The marathon would be a different story since it will warm up. Right now for 10k it is looking like 40. I would prefer 50 but i am glad it is dry. Bert is also running the 10k. i think we are in coral D.

My right knee is holding on and as of last week have developed something going on with the left. Unfortunately i think it is degenerative meniscus stuff. I am watching it closely. I am also hyper sensitive to what goes on with my knees. The left definitely has something going on but not near the position the right is in. I am hoping to finish in 70 minutes but if either knee hurts i will back off the pace. Backing off pace tends to help the knee.

We are heading down on Thursday and leaving on Monday. It's a quick weekend and want to be able to spectate so we are staying at Boardwalk Inn. this way we can watch the marathon go by on sunday morning. i am expecting a lot of my disser friends from the running boards to hit there between 8:30 and 9:30.

Sounds like a plan, Kris.

I think the 10K route you and Bert will run is the same that I did (walked) for the Wine & Dine 10k. Epcot parking lot and back/forth on the front roads then back in behind Living Seas and Canada, around Yacht/Beach Club, Swolphin, back along Boardwalk (your resort), around the countrys France to Germany to Mexico, around/under the ball and into the parking lot for the glory stretch.

I recall the 1st runD Half Marathon I did in January over 20 blessed years ago, I was standing on Epcot Blvd in my corral in 38F temps in a tank top and short shorts (didn't know anything then about throw-a-ways). And the wind was blowing briskly. For like an hour. Miserable I was but it was a learning experience (never made THAT mistake again). You and Bert are tough, experienced runners so you will know how to adjust and maximize your effort. But wind makes it no fun.

Look forward to your post-race stories.

We are here at Boardwalk Inn. We stopped at the expo before the hotel. We did fairly good getting here. Pulled under the sign on western way in 6.5 hours with only two stops. Dinner tonight is Kimonos at the Swan. Then we watch football and go to sleep. We did not sleep good last night so we are tired.

Don't stay up too late watching tv, Bert and Kris. :happytv: You have an early wake-up call tomorrow morning (I think). [If you bother to go to sleep at all].

For the record, I AM pulling for Penn State versus Notre Dame tonight, though. I'll watch it for you and Bert while you sleep till the game's conclusion and cheer along like I was an alum.

Ed:cheer2:

PS - you could watch the Orange Bowl all the way through, including the post game coverage, dress out for the race, and then just head down in the early morning for the bus to the 10k Start. You folks are fast 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ so you can get back to the room before breakfast, shower, eat, and THEN go to sleep. 🛌

@bama_ed You have support from this household and the girls father for rooting for PSU.

The puzzle is DONE! So of course we had to do a little photo shoot to celebrate. We plan to submit to the Disney Files Magazine....because why not.

I love how this turned out! There are a few minor touch ups left to do, but the majority of the work is finished!!

Great news. I knew something didn't sound right. 130cc (4+ ounces) is a lot to have behind your knee. Hopefully it feels better. I'd make sure your doctors office knows and send them the bill for the ED visit. :)

Congrats, James! It really looks great. I commented on Fb, but that was a lot of work.

It was, the custom puzzle table overlay I built in 2020 to assemble each one on. the custom sized boards I cut to store them on. The time solving the puzzle was always fun and relaxing. We looked back and actually finished the last puzzle on my birthday in Feb 2024. From then till now it’s been thinking, design, discussion, redesign till we got to this point.

Totally worth it!

@Sjm9911 That is a lot of fluid, hoping you get some relief and sleep.

Rundisney had a little SNAFU. A lot of bibs for the races were dispersed that were inactive, including ours. They sent an email last night that we were or may have been affected and nothing they could do. Basically we have no official results.

we did finish and got our medals. Being in coral E we did not start until after 5:30. I was racing at the end trying to get in before the VQ at 7 started for GotG. I missed it, crossed the line, stopped my watch, took out phone it said 7. Once I had the app open it was already closed.

Jumped on a bus and back for showers. EE for Epcot and went to Remy. Wait for 45 minutes. After that was our breakfast ressie at Garden Grill. We were starving. Got some good pics though.

Isn't there an afternoon VQ for GotG? You ran a heck of a race, had a fabulous breakfast, might want a nap, but do you want to be awake when/if the VQ comes open later today?

Great pics with Mickey and other characters.

I followed the chip/bib snafu on rD forum yesterday. What a cluster.

PS - ya'll get some sleep when you can. Here in Titletown, we had some snow in the early morning and rain later but it never fell below 32F. Streets are melted/wet and snow remains on grass but we are hunkered down till Saturday morning.

@bama_ed set the alarm for 12:55. Slept for about 45. VQ opened at 1 again. We got a BG. Unfortunately it is at dinner time, but will see if they are kind and let us in after it passes. Dinner is at 5:45 at Topolinos, my estimated call back time is 5:30. Go figure.

Atlanta is getting hit pretty hard. I hope it’s gone by Monday when we drive home.

Need to wrap up Friday. We went to our dismeet. Enjoyed seeing my friends. We stayed till 4:30, so we went to the skyliner over to Riveria. We had dinner at Topolinos. We had a celebratory martini.

I had the boullibase

Bert had the beef cheeks with polenta.

IMG_3478.jpeg

Was really good. Definitely worth a stop for signature restaurant. We were too tired then to go to Epcot, so no GotG on Friday. Watched a tiny bit off football and went to sleep.

Saturday we slept in a bit, though I was up to get my GotG VQ at 7. It was going to be hard to spectate the half so we did not try. We went to Epcot for EE and rode Soarin, living with the land, mission space. Had lunch at the quick serve in Japan. Then we walked over to DHS to ride Muppets one more time.

DHS was still decked out for Xmas.

IMG_3483.jpeg
Headed straight to muppets. The park felt very crowded compared to Epcot.

I love muppets so cute. As soon as we left we got called for our BG. We took the skyliner back to Epcot and headed to GotG. Unfortunately did not get e new song for us. We have had 3 of the 6. Then back to the hotel to rest and get ready for dinner.

Kris, I watched part of a YT live stream playback of the half yesterday. The guy was in one of the last start groups and made it to MK (the balloon ladies passed him at the entrance to Adventureland at the Hub). He made it up through the castle, got a pic taken in front, and then got picked up in front of Buzz Lightyear in Tomorrowland and where the route went out behind Buzz is where the buses were ready to take them to the Finish. But he had expected that and was still happy because he made it to MK, got his castle pic, and ended up with a medal anyway.

It looked cold, damp, and cloudy for the Half start and think it rained in the early morning before the start. No fun there.

Glad you and Bert "chill-axed" yesterday after the race. And I'll miss the Muppets Theater Show at DHS but I hope we get a heavy dose of Muppets pre- and post-show at R&R in the future.

Thanks for your updates and pics.
