The DisFort's Chit Chat Cafe

@bama_ed for the half most of the waiting in the corals was in the rain plus a lot puddles. Thankfully not too cold and most people had a poncho but lots of wet shoes. Temps was 60.

Dinner on Saturday was at Flying Fish. We started at the abracadabra bar.

Then I had the Chilean sea bass with scallops.

Bert had the potato wrapped snapper with octopus.

Both were delicious. After dinner we went back to Epcot. Walked world showcase and stayed for luminous.

This big was from earlier in the day.

Sunday I snagged another BG for GotG. Then I made Bert get up at 8 and we headed to the boardwalk to cheer. It was cold 45. Not sure how I would have dealt with it for running but for standing around I was bundled up. I stood and cheered for 3 hours and saw 10 people from the running thread. I did good. Then it was time to head to Epcot for GotG. On our way in we bumped into @Boomer1 and Tom. I had a very good spectator day. Finally on GotG we got our fourth song. We got Blondie, one way or another. Two more to go. It is a great ride. After that we needed food and only had dinner reservations. Did a walk up at Spice Road. Next was spaceship earth and then back to the hotel to get off my feet. My knee is screaming at me today.

We had dinner tonight at Yachtsman Steakhouse. Bert likes to respond to Reddit threads about the Disney steak on property. We were last there probably 15 years ago. When giving recommendations we always list Yachtsman 4th for steakhouses. We were not extremely looking forward to it but needed to do it for research. Can confirm it is 4th. If you absolutely must stay on property go eat at Shula’s. If you want the best steak house almost on property go to the Bull and Bear.

I had filet and Bert had strip. It was good but still 4th.

After dinner back to Epcot. We spent time in the garden watching the light show on spaceship earth. Highly recommend it.

Then watched Luminous. I enjoy this show. Definitely worth watching and much better than Harmonious. We head back to Atlanta tomorrow.

@garneska I will say that any steaks in the top 10 are good with me. I have not been to the Yachtsman in probably 6-7 years. The last time I was there I got the ribeye and asked for some horseradish. They brought out freshly grated for my request, it tested more like butter then what most people think horseradish tastes like. It serioulsy elevated my steak that night to one of the most memorable thanks to the level of service and how good fresh horseradish is with a quality steak. Might have to go revisit them this summer.....

Thanks for the TR, Kris. They keep running WDW commercials here and it makes me a bit homesick. Your updates make that a little better. It will be at least 2 years before we get back. Planning another DLP trip for 2026.

We did Shula's and Yachtsman this last trip in November. Both were very good, although Yachtsman wasn't quite as good as I remember from 4 or 5 years ago. Service was better at Yachtsman though. I'd definitely go back to both.

Haven't been to Bull and Bear. We'll have to put that on our list for next time.

We decided to go with the rebuild option. The shop that will be doing the rebuild thought that they might be able to have it done before we left. Tom would also like to have the transmission checked as he feels it may have contributed to the engine failure. After careful consideration we also decided our first trip out with it should be closer to home. As an example of it never rains unless it pours the shop had decided to pull the motorhome out into their yard to free up a service bay. Unfortunately, a motorhome without an engine does not have brakes. The yard was slippery and the motorhome crashed into the back of the tractor they were using to pull it. Repairs will be needed to the rear passenger side, as well as the ladder.

Drive home was not bad except for some rain. Took 6 hours and 40 minutes. We went to the grocery store then picked up a whisky. She did good no jumping.

Will try and add video from phone. Man it is not letting me add the video. Will keep trying but might be wrong n another post.

Had dinner, Kroger sushi which was nit near as good as kimono’s. Whisky is out.

Not looking forward to work tomorrow. Next vacation is at the end of march a cruise for our anniversary.

@garneska never been able to add video, only a link to somewhere else like YT or a public album then embed it.

Yes when you look at the types of video/links that can be added to a DIS post:

1736898846234.png

these are all sites that host media on them but while the DIS will allow uploading/posting/pasting "plain" pictures (that don't move-jpg, png, pdf, etc.), the space required for "moving" pictures directly to the DIS is probably too much bandwidth for them on a wide scale basis.

Personally, I live the by the giphy (.gif files) and YouTube (for parades and such) links. But that's all they can be - links.

So @garneska would have to find one of the host sites listed above that stores video (or create your own gif on your phone from a video file which my cheap, low-level, android Samsung A-10 can do). But it can only be 6 seconds long. (however, I can take a 12-second video clip out of a longer recorded video [mp4 or equivalent] file on my S/A-10 then play it 2x speed to fit in the 6-second .gif file restriction) It's all in my manual.

PS - for me this was one of those rare moments when "read the user's guide for your low-level S/A-10" paid off.

PPS - for me, cell phones are like sun glasses. 'Don't spend a lot of money on either because they'll soon be broken, dropped (broken), or lost.' Don't claim tracking/"finding" will save you. It will all happen eventually and you will be S-O-L. Eventually.

Well am glad I was not being obtuse about the video. However I don’t have the patience then to load it. The cutest thing are the noises she makes.

It was a tough day at work. So glad it is actually Tuesday while it feels like Monday.

Oh wow just checked in on my favorite tent brand, Eureka:

Wow! I recommended them for tents at the Fort in the past (the Copper Canyon line).

I use a single (Midori) tent for myself when backpacking between 6,000-12,000 ft above sea level (they made a 2-person Midori tent as well). Midori was a tent big enough for you to sleep in (gear outside). You could sit up in it (good enough) but not stand up. Their 2-4 man tents have been LEGION to Scout Troops for decades! Those were the Timberline line of tents. Great rain flies that kept us dry in the heaviest rains. Wish I had seen this sooner.

I'm sad to see such a strong tent brand exit the market. I will use mine for as long as I can. But it leaves a void in the market that another provider can fulfill.
