The DisFort's Chit Chat Cafe

Ok, so, finishing up some stuff in the house i have been puyting off. Figured, im not camping so I really should finish the kitchenette thing I started 3 years ago. Lol. I did the back splash today, tomorrow grout and maybe paint it. The backsplash was a pita. Now I know why I waoted 3 years to do it. I'll shoot a pic. When its done.

Done , just needs clean up. It was in the hose when I bought it but was outdated. Some made it into a laundry room. But , i like the laundry in the basement. Its more to set up drinks for a party. So its not used much. Cat box goes in there also. And dumb me didnt realize that grout xan go bad, so my non sanded grout, is sort of sanded now. I didnt realize it untill i was allready started. So , serves me right to wait 3 years to finish it. 20211219_165044.jpg20211219_165036.jpg20211219_165110.jpg

3 days till Christmas and all the gifts have been wrapped. The obligation left is Trip to up to PA and all the way back. The menus are planned and preparations being made. Soon will be the whirlwind of celebrations to be made. We wish you all safe travels and health. If I don't post again before Christmas, have a Merry time yourself. Merry Christmas all!!

Though I know from this evening through Christmas Day is going to be a very busy time as we go visit family and our newborn niece, I just am not sure I will be back online after this evening beforehand to wish everyone a merry.

Policy on COVID discussions

The global COVID pandemic created unprecedented restrictions, disruptions and changes to our travel, work, shopping, schooling, social interactions and so many other aspects of our lives since the beginning of 2020. We’ve all been affected, and we have been inundated with news, information, mis-information, frustrations and opinions. We’ve heard them, we’ve shared them, we’ve argued about them.

The discussions, debates and arguments about the virus, distancing and masking policies, various politicians’ statements and actions have been overwhelming and divisive. Many threads on the DISboards have been derailed or devolved into arguments due to this topic. We understand the passion, but feel that we’ve let the discussions run their course. We are sure there are better places on the WWW to learn about and debate scientific, medical and political issues. The mission of the DISboards is to be a great travel resource and a friendly community.

Now that travel is opening up again, it’s time to refocus on that mission!

From this point on, we will welcome information on COVID policies RELATED TO TRAVEL. Things like the vaccination policies issued by venues or destinations, the cleaning or distancing procedures in use, practical tips for travelers or things they might need to know that are different from location to location are all valid topics. Any official policies issued by Disney, other travel destinations, cruise lines, airlines, etc. regarding requirements for visiting parks or cruising can be shared. This information needs to be on-topic for the specific forum and thread where posted.

We will NOT welcome debate or opinion about medical, scientific, or political aspects of the pandemic. There are a few often repeated trigger items that won’t be allowed: No statistics about infection rates, no ranting about individual rights, no “face-diaper” comments, no debate about whether vaccinations or masking are effective, no discussions about which governor or politician or news personality did or said what.

In summary: COVID related discussion should be limited to actual policy and practical application, and NOT veer into opinion or debate.

We understand that you may be passionate in your opinions on this topic and want to discuss or debate them, and appreciate your understanding that there are more appropriate places than the DISboards to do that.

Thank you,
DISboards Administrators

Thanks Denise.

Hopefully this is just a required periodic reminder and not in response to a recent post.

But now back to random Chit Chat.

Santa must have known we are Mickey fans. Quite the haul this morning.

Donna did OK too. A nice 50th insulated mug (Donna is obsessed with these things. We probably have over 50), the personalized poster that is just the right size for the motorhome and the ash tray looking thing from her sister that has all the iconic Disney World things on it.

The board is acting strange this morning. I couldn't add the first photo from my phone, but could on the computer. Now it won't let me add the pics of Donna's things. I'll update this later if I can add the pics.

Here's another attempt at posting pics.

Did something today I haven't done in over 2 years.

I swapped the Winter tires on the RS. Last year I didn't bother since I wasn't driving much due to Covid and working from home. The Summer tires are only good down to about 40 degrees and we have had a really warm Fall. Yesterday was a record high (73). We are back to normal by next weekend (high in the 30-40). I am normally swapping these in October or early November.

Spent today installing a 1000w inverter in the 5th wheel. I have always been annoyed that the outdoor refrigerator could only run when plugged into shore power. Cheap thing wouldn't stay cold long enough to even make it down to the beach. Got to really thinking about mine and Randy's trip out west this summer and realizing I was going to need that extra cool storage so I went ahead and bought one back at black Friday on Amazon but only now getting around to hooking it up. It has two outlets, I ran a 12 gauge extension cord through the underbelly and up into the outdoor kitchen area where the fridge is. I can swap it back and forth from shore power to inverter if I don't want the inverter to run non-stop. I think I'm going to run the other outlet up inside the 5er into the master bedroom which is right above the compartment where the inverter is mounted just in case I need to run something inside.

Think I sweated off about 5 pounds with the 77 degree weather today while doing it.

Ah the good underbelly work. When I was installing my battery bank and inverter I was bleeding, sweaty, and about to go full Donald Duck temper tantrum. At that exact moment is when my neighbor (who isn't my absolute favorite human) decided to drive over and tell me that I had dead trees that he was going to cut down for me so he could take them to the sawmill.

I empathize.
