The DisFort's Chit Chat Cafe

Hope you all survived that wind for you NE/Mid-Atlantic folk. No trees down, but lots more debris to clean out of the yard.

Today I started to prep for the new motor. I got muffler off the old motor, cleaned and ready to go. Parts are all getting lined up and even a 1' chunk of fresh keyway has been delivered.

I spend the rest of this afternoon vacuuming and cleaning out the car and the trucks insides as well as the trucks bed. Tomorrow my goal is a bath, thankfully no love bug issues here. Just LOTS and LOTS of pollen. It's pretty much caked on everything!

Friday we head out to camp in Luray for Mothers Day weekend. I think everyone is looking forward to the trip, I know I am after my week of Primary On-Call has been going.

Bama had 10 players drafted when all was said and done.

One of those was even our Long Snapper, Thomas Fletcher (the 222nd pick).

Okay time to move into the off-season stance for a while.

Bama Ed

Ps - that will be our 3rd long snapper joining the other two currently in the NFL. Does that make Alabama "Long Snapper U" too?

We pulled into our assigned site at a CG one time. The guy next to us CUT A HOLE in his camper and built a cat sanctuary to put up against his trailer. We had to move. Our son and his cat hating dog was with us. LOL

I was thinking about what Denise just posted. Our Katie had something happen with our Chester and now wants to kill all cats. So this trip will be interesting as Lucille insists we bring Chubbs who will turn 20 in July. We have a gate in doorway of bedroom and if need be can close the door. Happily Chubbs thinks Bed is for her when she did come with us in the past

the good news, I was feeling much better today. Good enough to paint the ceiling. We did a lot today. Painted the ceiling, went to the grocery store, did the second coat, then mopped the floor since everything was out of the living room. Put everything back. Took all the recycling and trash out. Got some painting supplies back in the storage locker. We are expecting painting to be done till the remodel starts. Tomorrow have to put the cap on the ceiling fan and take the big ladder back to storage. I am now extremely beat. so far my leg feels good. I may give myself another day for a break but I think Tuesday will try a mile on the treadmill to see how it goes. We absolutely plan to hike on Saturday rain or shine.

We have geese that come to our pond each spring. There were 4 for years, then 3 now 2. They have 4 babies now. When the babies can fly they leave and we see them again next year. We have named them....... poop machines.
We have a pair too. Been hatching out on our lower pond for about last 4 years. They keep to the pond, about 75 yards behind house so poop doesn't bother us too bad thankfully.

@garneska Thankfully no high sev incidents. Just enough calls over the weekend that makes me happy it's another 8 weeks before I am primary oncall again, but I will be secondary and tertiary before then and we change over at 9am tuesdays.

And you brought it up...

Went out to Lake today to see if geese were still there.

Yep

+4 little ones...

No pic, I left phone at house.

I've never been one to name my cars, trucks, campers or much else. We did decide to name our kid since that is socially required. But said kid and I came up with a name for the new MH, if we were inclined to do so.

We bought a Fleetwood Discovery. On the Fleetwood sites and forums, the Discovery is often referred to as a "Disco". Since DW is a little terrified to drive it, we thought naming it "Panic! in the Disco" would be appropriate.

For those not getting the reference.

Ours is called Tess. My wife named her and I don't know where it came from. And no, I didn't ask. Sometimes things in life is just how they are. 🤔

The truck has many names. Big Mike (I have a Monsters in topper on it often), Bertha, Land Tug.

In mower news, the engine arrived yesterday and I got the motor mounts tapped, fuel plummed, electrical connected and filled it with oil. And just like that, it started up and purred like a kitten. I am pretty sure the old motor had a exhaust leak (even with a new exhaust and gaskets) and might have had a loose wrist pin (was not a rod knock, but something not tight and new like a new motor.)

The last part arrived today, the proper sized hydro drive pulley, when the previous owner repowered it they put a 3" pulley off a riding mower on it for some reason, the smaller pulley meant the hydro pumps ran slower which effects how they work. I decided if I am going to spend the money on a new motor, I am going to make sure all the parts are done correctly. My local shop helped me source the part. So once my workday is done I will finish assemble and start a test mow with the deck set about 4.5". The grass is stupid long even after having it cut about 10 days ago at this point. If it goes well then I will mow the whole lot at that height and then give it overnight to dry out and mow again tomorrow evening at its normal setting.
