The (disappointing) 2007 Planning Video

Did anybody else order the free Disney Planning Dvd this year? I always really look forward to it because as soon as we know for sure that we're going, we all get in 'planning' mode and enjoy watching the video as part of our tradition.

A few years ago, the video dealt with 'the happiest celebration on earth' and it was so cute! There was a sweet little actress hosting the thing and she was w/ three friends who all had different 'touring styles' (one was a laze-about who liked to sit and watch, one was a mom, one was a thrill-seeker) and they all took you thru the different parks accordingly. The coverage on the resorts was great too and it came w/ a planning cd-rom.

Naturally, I assumed the new planning video would be at least on par w/ that one. Not sure wht happened. This one was so cheesy and tedious, we grew bored w/ it before it was half over and immediately put on the old one...ha!

I hope Disney splurges on another exciting dvd like the 2004 one again.

There were several threads here on the boards when the vacation planning DVD came out. Many liked it but many didn't. I was amongst those that thought it was just "so-so".

I remember the one you are talking about that you liked so much. We loved that one too. We "stole" the lazy guy's idea and had our picture taken on each and every park bench we could find. We came up with lots of different poses and cute faces.

I, too, hope they'll do a different vacation planning DVD for 2008 but I doubt that it'll change much.

The 2007 DVD really is a snooze job. We couldn't even watch the whole thing. I'm glad we kept the Happiest Celebration one. It's so much more fun to watch, especially for kids. My DS5 loves the lazy guy.

This is the first one I ever saw and I thought it was SO good!!! I guess I have nothing to compare it against. The opening segment made me cry my eyes out -- but I'll admit for me it doesn't take much. I'm all emotional that way.

Yeah, no offense to anyone who liked it but I was (again) comparing it to the 2004 video and I just loved that one. It got me so excited for my trip! Maybe they didnt want to splurge on professional actors again? Ha. I'm not sure what the ones between then and 2007 were like. I didnt order them because we didnt go during those years.

Geez,I was wicked psyched to pop it into the DVD player. I just looked at the jacket---2007!!! I'll have to order the one for 2008. I'll still enjoy it. It will get me all pumped for our summer trip!!!

The ones with the four people came out through Sept 2006 and that is the one I love, I always go back to it. We several of the ones for 2007 and they are just awful. I mean they are okay, but awful. I love the spiritedness of the other one, it makes going so much more exciting.

Yep, boring. Does anyone remember the old old Travel Channel before it got good? That is what it reminded me of...kinda dry "hey here is Disney World" etc... Two thumbs down.

My daughter and I got one recently and watched it this week to get pumped up for our upcoming trip (ten days ). I was shocked at how bare bones it seems. The resort clips were sooo short. Not their best, that's for sure... We looked at each other afterwards and thought, "Is that it?!" Oh well, it was free, and soon we'll have the REAL thing - live, not Memorex.

WE loved the video with the 4 stars. And if it wasn't for the "lazy guy" I don't thnk we would have ever stopped and sat on a bench. WE really enjoyed doing that thoughtout all the parks. Just a few minutes to rest and enjoy the surroundings. Sometimes when I talk about Disney with kids, we will watch that dvd.

I like it because it's not cheesy and each person has something special (groups, kids, trill rides, relaxing) to talk about. Which is what Disney is all about. Something for everyone.

I really disliked the 2007 dvd, wish they would use that cast again.

We feel the same way! We watch the old one with Erin - the hostess, Luke- the thrill guy, David- the lazy one and Stacy- the mom! We love it. Even thought it's get out dated we still like that video a ton better than the newer ones

I think the problem with the 07 planning DVD is the details. I know it sounds stupid, but the resort clips are so old. When I watched the CR's part it was 2 refurbishments ago. It felt like a 1990s time capsule exploded and made this planning DVD. Plus it was boring and cheesy on top of that. I loved the previous DVD, I watch it all the time.
