I used to listen to WDWRadio and enjoyed Lou, I even have some of his autographed books. I would say that the biggest difference is that The Dis Unplugged is unbiased and offers many different points of view.

I have nothing against WDWRadio, I just don't have the time to listen anymore. basically I had to pick just 2 Podcasts, The Dis Unplugged and Adam Carolla won.

Two very different shows.

Lou is a great guy - I've met him several times, was at his fifth anniversary meet, his kids and mine played together. But his show's focus is about everything that is great about WDW. Even his meals at San Angel Inn were great. He does get interesting people to interview though.

The DIS Unplugged isn't about that. It's more about the reality of WDW. There are discussions of things good and bad. When they don't like something, they say it. Early on I was even afraid it would become "That Podcast" when Pete had his first major rant. Now I'm glad it has become what it is - unique among many.

I agree. I have never met Lou and he seems like a great guy but you can tell he turns a blind eye to any negativity towards Disney. I will confess that I listen to both podcasts. I highly enjoy his sound bites in the beginning of the show from different areas of Disney.

I like both of them. The time that all of theses individuals put into creating and publishing their information is extraordinary...and I know above and beyond what they actually get "paid" for. I like Lou's Top Ten shows the best and when he has Jim Korkis on. I like when the Dis focuses on the parks and resorts (7 in 7 and favorite attractions/park updates etc.) I wish both podcasts would spend more time on history of specific attractions and park first-person walk-thru reports. All in all we are darn luck to have both, so who's complaining

Different perspectives, I'd say. As others have already pointed out, Lou can sometimes be accused of wearing rose-colored glasses, as even his criticisms (which are seldom) are quite muted. With Lou, it's largely just himself, occasionally with a bit of banter with travel agent Beci Mahnken (did I spell that right?), or a guest interview. Agree that many of his interviews are top notch. Probably owing to his deeply positive spin on everything Disney does, he's gotten a lot of clout with Disney, at least unofficially. This isn't to say that Pete doesn't have much the same thing (one might guess), though in the latter case it's more through the volume of business that Dreams Unlimited brings to Disney, rather than as a "fan" per se.

So, to summarize the differences, I'd say it like this (for DisUnplugged vs WDWRadio):
- More vs less critical
- More group discussion vs more interviews
- Travel agent perspective vs fan perspective
- More experience based vs more fact and detail based
- More personality vs more reporter style at times

I'd also echo above all however, that Lou is definitely a great guy. Just comes at things from a different point of view.

Lou and Pete are clearly two of the most dedicated Disney podcasters going, and I'm very thankful they're both putting out outstanding shows from their different perspectives. I would LOVE to hear Pete interview Lou on Dis Unplugged, and Lou interview Pete on WDW Radio. Probably never going to happen, but it would be wildly entertaining!

I'm a Carolla fan as well!!! I listen to podcasts all day at work. So it's Dan Patrick, Carolla, any Dis episodes released, then it varies from there. I do like WDWradio, btw. I don't listen quite as often though. I really like when he has Jim Korkis on. His storytelling of Disney history is the best!!!!

I don't think Lou believes Disney can do no wrong -his show is simply a look at the positive things. For which there are many. But, I do enjoy the different angles discussed on the DIS.

Correct. But Lou has used video for a long time now for his short features -although some of his podcasts could be really nice in video. As far as the DIS goes, I still am at a point where I watch selected Video Podcasts -not all of them. Have to admit I really enjoy the video and think the team is doing a great job.

I think that another big difference is a group of people who know each other and are in the same room. There is a reason for Pete's determination to stick to the round table format. It makes a big difference. I love how they make jokes and go on a tangent. It just makes things more interesting and allows the listeners to really get to know the podcasters. With a group, it just sounds less scripted, more real. It's the same reason that I like Mousetalgia (Disneyland based and also a bunch of Disney history if you are looking for some) and WDW Today (they aren't in the same room but seem to know each other well enough for the dynamic to work).

You just don't get that dynamic with one person talking on a podcast.
