Since someone was nudged to break away from an earlier thread here on the DIS I thought I would just go ahead and create it.

We are here to match DISers in other parts of the world who would love to sent snack foods that they are unable to get in their home country and vice versa.

I'll be adding some rules and processes as they develope but for right now what is everyone looking for? (Cheez-its, Pop Tarts, Little Debbies, Polo Mints, Shortbread, etc) and could you please list your home country to help assist in creating matches. Thank you.

What a fun idea! I hope I can help someone - I don't have anything in mind right now, but I probably will if this thread catches on!

I will let you know after my trip when I get addicted to some American snack food or other! :thumbsup2

Great idea, one downside is some friends we met on the Disney Wonder from Colorado sent us a box with 2 bars of Ghiradelli, 3 bags of Combos and 2 small bottles of Mountain Dew. I noticed the price of postage on the box - $48!!!!

:goodvibes

My guess is the culprit was the Mt. Dew because of the weight of the soda.

Thanks DB for starting this thread :goodvibes

I can basically offer anything from the UK. But not soda - as someone has just said, that's going to cost a lot in postage. But anything else...

I need to start thinking about what I'd like...

I'm in, I too will want to avoid the heavier things such as soda, but will send something for a giant box of nerds.... mmmm sugary goodness...

There was also some form of oatmeal cookie/mashmallow things I found before, so idea what they were called though.

Oh, and I'm from the UK.

We no longer have a small packet postage rate, so everything is letter rate (about $1/ounce). Technically, the Mountain Dew shouldn't have been sent, because liquids are not supposed to be sent by post. When I visit my friends in the UK, I bring the liquids with me, though I do send snacks by post.

Are these the oatmeal cookie/marshmallow things?

I'm not sure, but I think Little Debbie's are available down south (I'm a NYer). I've never seen them in NYC (though I don't tend to eat those kinds of foods, so I could be wrong about their northern availability).

That or if someone coming back from the World would be willing to pick up an extra candy bar or box of nerds and ship it local when they get home.

Also a good idea.

I've posted a thread about this thread on the UK community board too - just in case people miss it here :goodvibes

We'd be happy to do this DH loves his Reeces things :goodvibes I agree the soda could push it over but if things have a fairly long expiry date (a few months) and if you send things surface mail it's usually cheaper :thumbsup2

Cadburys

Walkers crisps (chips ;)) The flavours can be found under 'Our Products' plus there are some strange/cool flavours out right now for the World Cup

Me, me ..... oh wait I can get them anyway. We need to visit Cadbury World, haven't been there for years!

Not sure how the exchange will work exactly? Maybe a like for like thing i.e. bag of candy = 4 Cabury bars, big bag of chips = 6 pack of Walkers etc. :confused3

Ohh now you have done it... I think I will need to go to the corner shop now... Mmmmmm whispa with a cup of coffee

I have done this before for some US DISers - sent shortbread cookies and Cadbury chocolate. I would quite happily send cookies, chips or chocolate for any US or other international DISers if required.

Hi Tracy - Just editing as a PP has just suggested an answer to this. As DB suggested, we should post on the boards what we would like and then hopefully people will start to match up :)

Good idea posting those websites. Also, our American friends could check out some of the websites for our supermarkets such as Tesco and http://www.asda.com to see if anything catches their eye. (Not sure if you have to register first though...)

That will only work from the UK to the US. Unfortunately, our postal "service" has eliminated the surface shipping option, so we are stuck with letter rate.

I'm in Manhattan, willing to help anybody out. Most of the stuff you'd want (Magnolia Bakery cupcakes, etc) wouldn't necessarily be fresh if I shipped it out, but I'm willing to bring stuff to Orlando when we're down there.
