GOOD for you!:goodvibes

Yeah, unfortunately schools know (and do) less than they should.

Are the counselers you contacted saying no because you don't have a diagnosis??

It may take a bit of road trip to a developmental ped to get the ball rolling.

Exactly, they want a diagnosis from a developmental ped, and then they would go from there. The crazy thing is I talked to DS's preschool teacher and she does not believe that it is autism or aspergers...just a severe speech delay. Either way the medicine is controlling the behaviour, I will work with the schools (if they think it is apraxia then they need to give him more speech therapy, and I will be letting them know this) I will still try a developmental ped...the problem is the more I research autism the more I realize they don't really do too much for it

When Staley-o and I got the Safari cards, I asked the gal how soon we'd be getting the permanent ones in the mail, and she said something like 6 - 8 weeks. I was seriously hoping that first $10 off coupon would be in like 2 weeks! :rolleyes1

oh well, gives you a reason to visit with Staley again :goodvibes

how cool! That is just incredible to have a DR. like that! Ours doesnt even remember who the kids are.

Definitely a plus up here :thumbsup2 The time DS jumped off the bunk bed (we thought he broke his foot) I called the Dr. at 6pm, spoke to him personally at home, and he actually changed his dinner plans to a different town just in case we needed him :thumbsup2

Ummmm... Most likely. :rolleyes1

:lmao: yeah, you think??? :rotfl2:

and the meat skewers are to die for...im coming in on wed. so I think i will go over there that day:thumbsup2
You know, Lynn, on our Oct. trip I finally talked DH into trying out Bengal BBQ. We'd had a late lunch, and just didn't need a full meal for dinner, just something to get us through the evening, ya know?

Anyway, so we tried the bacon-wrapped asparagus and I think a couple chicken skewers, and they were... not good.

I know that's practically sacreligious to you, but they were overcooked, too dry and black around the edges. DH is the grill king, so to say we are BBQ-spoiled is an understatement, and to say that stuff was even kinda good is a gross misstatement of the facts.

However, I'm hoping you can tell me that it was just a bad batch. I wouldn't mind trying it again, but I'm not sure I can convince DH. :confused3

PS. One of my girlfriends did bacon-wrapped asparagus as an appetizer when we had dinner at their place. I can't remember if she used the broiler or did it up in a pan, but it came out very moist and tender. YUMMY!!!

The kids didn't like theirs, so I snarfed them!

Do you have a children's hospital within a reasonable distance? or University based? My sis got on waiting lists to get the diagnosis, got lucky and had a cancellation and grabbed it.

Plus speech therapist, ocupational therapiost.. so on and so foth. She gave up on the district- they don't have the funds to do a good job for children who need it so badly.

There's a bunch of things they do for Autism, but it's not just ONE thing. not one miracle pill or therapy that fits every child.

Maybe some day they will..... I really hope they do.

Right, this is what I am finding out. I will have to call Phoenix Children's, I believe though that they are 6months to a year out, so hopefully I can get lucky too and find a cancellation. I so wish I could just afford speech therapy and OT, it would make life so much easier. He really didn't even respond too well to it though (I did out of pocket March-August of 2007 - and it nearly killed us financially - ok let's be honest it did)...

Not sure how much you ladies read the toher DL boards and discussions out there..Al Lutz has abit of an inside edge and blogs about his theories and rumors (some not true, some very true). The Foods dept has been having a lot of trouble over the past few years.. and steadily getting worse with managemnt issues and not enough CMs to meet guest demand.

It's beginning to show!
We've started eating outside the park, the food has been just that lousy that I will walk down to Denny's to eat.. yes Denny's of all places tastes better then DL food!

Anyway, not suprised that you had a lousy time at Bengal. It was good two years ago.. this year.. meh just ok.. but I kep going back and hoping.. please please please....

I think so! Alex went to monster jam, and we figured that Mikalah would like the zoo the best. Its not like I know anyone that I could invite to a party...

:rolleyes1

Just kidding! :rotfl:

I was talking to DH about possibly doing a little party for DS3's birthday
(last year we had his first party, just invited the family of his little buddy from his gym class, and families of my 3 best friends (the families all have kids the same age, so we get together a lot, especially in the summer.)

So when I asked if we should do a party, he looked at me like I was NUTS: "We're taking him to DISNEYLAND, what more of a party does he need???" :rotfl2:

ahhh, silver lining here.. if you get a diagnosis he would qualify for medical aid thru the state.

It's not as heavily income based as regular medical assistance-- it's there to help parents pay for therapy, respite care (they pay for someone to watch your kids!!), special diet, co-pays.....

Some states have a household grant, extra funding for buying things that will help you care for your child... more respite care, books/research, supplies for ABA therapy.. locks/gates for security.. :scared:
Sister was able to get a playground installed in her yard -- partially paid by a grant. Secure yard , less risk of escape.

I will have to see what I can do...I just don't know. It caught me off guard the way his teacher responded when I told her the doctor thought he had autism/aspergers. So this is strange to me, she sees him interact in a school setting, and has experience with special needs kids, yet thinks it is just servere apraxia............I guess utimately I need a developmental pediatrician to diagnose him

oh fine, twist my arm a little
GEESH!

ummm yeah.. so what would be the latest.. ummmmmm Shawma willbe gone for a few days for her mom's surgery, Alsion got the green light to come to DL (she's "thinking" about it)

Lynn has been in MV getting her daughter ready for school , shopping, eyeglasses, dental and stuff

I jsut ate a whole bunch of mini quiche and Staley is planing to make cookies

ohh and Alex had to change a stinky butt and sacre away a:mad: housefly that went vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvt
:rotfl2:

Very nice summation, G. :rotfl:

ok let me tell you something...I love hotdogs on the grill burnt...the blacker and blistered the better as long as the inside isnt dried out...with that said, I do like the bacon asparagus blackened so ok you got me there...but on the meat side its never been overcooked....so maybe if you order it you should tell them not to give it so black to you...they have a HUGE fire grill going ...
