OH NO! Beano!! Not the chain! Do not touch the chain!!

:scared:

Hey CamColt - do you happen to know when the Yak & Yeti restaurant opens at AK?! I don't see it avail. online to select yet....just curious if it will be open when we go in January?! Thx

How do you know so much!? And really....Yak & Yeti!? That's the name?

Is that like Boot and Rally? I am not sure I could eat there.

Yak...what a funny word.

Oh Cheri - do ice those knees. But WOW! Board breaking. You go my little Jackie Chan friend. Next I see a series of movies. and perhaps even a broadway musical....

sent you a package....

LOL! Yeah, I'm not sure I'd want to eat at a place with the word YAK in the name. Not very appetizing.

We have probably been over this before, but who is planning on a stay at WDW before the cruise? If so, how long? I had been thinking 2 nights, but I was looking around and found a good rate at AKL. If I go that route I want time to enjoy the hotel so I'm thinking then we would need 3 nights....plus 7on the cruise is making for quite a long trip! I don't know. :confused3

As a side note, before I had ever seen AKL I thought I would have no interest in it at all. Once I went to visit it to check it out (and then eat at Boma 3x since then) I couldnt get over how beautiful it was. The only thing holding me back is if I stay deluxe I want at least easy access to 1 park. BUT, since this trip we won't really be doing parks day in and out (only 1 actual park day), Im thinking this may be the time to stay there. Opinions? :headache:

We enjoyed the Mt. Everest ride so much in August I just think the Yak & Yeti restaurant will be interesting too - I know it's not the same as a ride, but I just think it will have an interesting theme & all. Whatever...keep me posted on reviews once it opens!

We LOVE AKL!! We are booked for 3 n at AKV pre-cruise!! :thumbsup2 Since we're out of DVC points (for now) at first I had us booked in a "pool view" room from the 17th - 20th at the regular rack rate of like $321 / n with tax.:scared1: I booked it right after they released the 2008 rates 'cuz I know there's only a limited # of pool view rooms left now that the top 2 floors are DVC and the rate for "pool view" over "standard" was only like $20 or $30 / n more. Anyway, I kept calling DVC member services and finally a couple of weeks ago I got us into a "Value Studio" with a cash ressie for like $262 / n so it's a little less. We actually prefer 10 day vacations so I'm sure when it comes time to book our airfare we'll try to get down there as early as possible on that Thurs. so we can have 1/2 day at the parks + all day Fri & Sat. If our room isn't ready when we get there we'll just put our stuff with bell services & head out. But I think the rooms are too much $ to not get down there & enjoy as much time as possible! Travel time can really eat into your day...

When we went in Aug. we had like an 8:00 or 8:30 am flight. By the time we checked in with M.E. and got the bus to OKW & got checked in etc. it was probably between 12 & 12:30. We had lunch ressies at like 1:50 I think in Downtown Disney so we had just enough time once we got over there to exchange our AP certificates before we ate. But I couldn't believe how fast the day went! I mean it was 2:00 before we knew it. So I say go for the 3 n 'cuz most of the first day is SHOT with travel time + you're tired from getting up at 4:00 am to catch a flight etc.!;) That will give you 2 FULL days down there to enjoy the hotel!:cutie:

I heard on one of the Podcasts that Yak & Yeti is the name of a restaurant (or rest hut??) at the base of Mt. Everest (or part way up?). anyway, it's someplace that Disney came across when they went to Nepal to study up for The Everest ride. Still, I'm with you guys: not to be eating in place called Yak.

Disclaimer about the tae Kwondo boards: they are plastic. They fit together to simulate various widths of wood.

Guess what' goin' on at my house... Christmas Lights Goin' Up!!!! Yup. I know it's early, but we got a discount for letting the company come this week. It was this week or around December 15th. (Nobody puts up their own lights around here. Seems there is a strong aversion to falling off roofs. Go figure.) I won't be turning them on until after Thanksgiving though. plenty of time to find a twinkly Mickey Mouse..... ideas? (after what happened to RJ's blow ups last year, I'm not attempting inflatables.)

It's almost 5 o'clock

Christmas Lights??? OMG!! But really Thanksgiving is under 2 weeks away so I guess its not that early. Uh-oh...Santas got work to do! :scared:

I agree Annie. I like the earliest flight possible. We usually get about 7:00 AM. You being at AKLV is as good a reason as any for me to stay at AKL, right? ;) So theres another pro. Cant think of too many cons.

I just get nervous about being gone for so long...worry about catching up on work when I get home (both me and DH), worry about gaining too much weight...all that fun (stupid) stuff. :sad2:

AH Ha ha - Christmas lights..

I have actually seen lights on around here already. :sad2:

Cheri - twinklely Mickeys at Disneystore.com:thumbsup2

:yay: Annie!
:yay: Katie!

Where is everyone else today?

Taking a break from my cleaning. Got hot. Will quit for the nite soon. My vacuum is making a funny noise! Trying to get a lot done as next weekend is supposed to be that weekend we go to the Chesapeake Bay Hyatt with "the gang". I think there are 6 families going. I'm still debating if we should go on Fri. nite or not. It's about a 2 hr. drive to the other side of the bay and we can't leave until after work - rush hour toward the bay on a Fri. eve will easily add 30-45 min. so it will be late when we get there. I don't know. I'm still feeling very putzy about it. My neighbor thinks we're going to spend the day on Sat. drinking in the hot tub!:rotfl2: I'm having flashbacks already!:rotfl:

I dread the thought of the Xmas light thing. We do a lot of simple stuff - nothing on the roof! Clear "net lights" on the shrubs & clear rope lights outlining the garage doors and front door. We have these little coated white hook things out there that we leave year round so DH just has to slip the rope lights into them...our problem of course is that we always seem to pick THE coldest day of the year to do it! :cold: If it's nice the weekend after Tgiving we'll put them up then. Put a few things in the yard...lighted polar bear & Xmas tree with rope light presents under it.... Then I put candles in ALL of the windows (25 of them) and that's a pain in the butt 'cuz I also put them on timers and run extension cords so that if they're in the same room they all come on at once - but it's a process for sure. Then the most craftsy thing I ever did was make my own wreaths a few years ago - so we put those out on the front windows. We get a live tree (big - like 10' if we can find one that's affordable) so we will probably get that around Dec. 8 weekend....they dry out too much to get them any earlier....plus the daily watering thing gets old!!

CamColt - we'll have to hook up at the pool at AKL for some cocktails!! Does our DVC rate sound OK ya think? We have found that if we're able to take (2) one week vacations spread apart a little that's OK. But if we're only able to take one "real" vacation then one week isn't long enough. Two weeks seems too LONG but 10 days if we're busy is JUST RIGHT! We do miss the cats tho!:cat:

CandyCaneLights2.jpg

stoopid camera phone messes up the colors. I have a candy cane house! This year I did something different (NO MORE icicly lights - 7 out of last 8 years). These lights are white and red - like a candy cane and the three palm trees are wrapped in little Disneyland lights. It looks great  (now to keep them off until after Christmas - saw a small bright light in the switch when turning off the lights from inside the house :scared1: Yeah, I'm thinkin' an electrician might be good before the lights go back on.)

Thanks for the tip in twinkly Mickey, TRM!

:sad2: Why oh why am I up before even Starbucks opens??*

Nice lights Cheri, candy cane huh.....just be sure that Hansel & Gretel don't come calling. :rotfl: ok,so that was lame, but at this hour of the am....what do ya expect!;)

* cuz BOB has a band review today in Pismo Beach and their call time at the school is 5am!...heck you think that's bad, the poor ID team had to be there at 1am!:scared1:

You ARE up early RJ!! Whew! Good luck out there Bob!

Cheri - even tho the colors are screwy the lights look great - I can see why you would hire a co. to put them up (especially to get them straight)!:thumbsup2 I love the tree wrap idea - we've only been here 7 yrs so we don't have any trees with trunks that are big enough to do that with. Well, actually we probably never will as most of our trees are crape myrtles & with all of their multiple trunks it will be FOREVER before they have any size to them. I hate that little spark thing you were talking about. I see that here every once in a blue moon. Then I stand there & stare at the switch & turn it on & off again to see if it happens again...and it never does it again so I make a mental note to "keep an eye on that switch"! :rotfl: It's just one of those freaky things I guess.

Cheri- is that a service that comes around offering to put up your lights? I have never seen that before. I guess it can't be much different than the guys that run around here selling shutter services. The lights look very classy. :goodvibes

RJ- GO BACK TO BED!!!

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Sounds yummy to me!!!

Yikes, Ronnie Jo! Go to bed! Good luck to Bob!

Lights look great, Cheri.

Cocktails at the pool sound great, Annie! I wonder if they still make that drink they used to have there, the Naymi Nyami. It was awesome. But with this ridiculous standardization of bar menus, I would guess they don't offer that anymore. :(

Unfortunately, I am not familiar with the DVC pricing, so I cant give you an opinion on that. Im still going back and forth about AKL myself, but I am leaning toward doing it. I should probably book before I lose the rate and kick myself.

YAY!!

Ophie - I wanted to see pictures of the castle.:sad1: But very cool website.

RJ - sorry you were up so early. But does Starbucks actually close!? Guess I am never out and about that early.:rotfl: Good luck to Bob. And what is an ID team?

Cheri - lights look good! And you're welcome for the mickey light hint. I was eyeballing those earlier in the week.

TZM - yes, light putter uppers. We have them here too. Maybe a suburban thing. :confused3 Or wait.... a second career for you!:lmao: :thumbsup2

Annie - when we lived in PA DH put lights on the house one time. Those steep roofs suck. Now I cannot get him to put lights on the second story here. He admits to being old and the roof is higher from up there.:confused3 And yes, we put the candle-lights in each window facing the street. I got sick of walking around each night to turn them all on so I went with the battery operated ones that came on when the sun went down:thumbsup2 Then had someone make me swags for each window that DH also had to put up. With marroon velvet bows to match the shutters:thumbsup2

Oh yeah, you know it, we were fly even on the east coast!:cool1:

:rotfl:

OK of to make football picks before pizza party. Did I mention soccer season is over!!:woohoo: Finished with a win they did. And nope, I did not even get a red card! And no yellow card either!:woohoo: Time to tuck the over competitive tail in until next year.

Have a great day everyone!

I was hoping for pics too. So sad I will miss Sleeping Beauty Castle all dressed up, but at least I will see Cinderalla's. :cool1:

Congrats on the win, Johnna!
