Funny for the day:

I was out walking with my 4 year old son. He picked up something off
the ground and started to put it in his mouth. I took the item away from
him and I asked him not to do that.

"Why?" my son asked.

"Because it's been on the ground, you don't know where it's been, it's dirty and probably
has germs" I replied.

At this point, my son looked at me with total admiration and asked,
"Mommy, how do you know all this stuff? You are so
smart"

I was thinking quickly. "All moms know this stuff. It's on the
Mommy Test. You have to know it, or they don't let you be a Mommy."

We walked along in silence for 2 or 3 minutes, but he was evidently pondering
this new information.

"OH...I get it!" he beamed, "So if you don't pass the test you have to be
the daddy."

"Exactly" I replied back with a big smile on my face.

Love it!

So, life is for conquoring fears, right? I did today.

Today I took my first tae kwondo class. There was me, a few grown-ups (with higher up belts) and a mess of tiny (and I mean LEETLE) kids with higher belts, Cassie (and her higher belt) and....... me. Well, I broke 3 boards (1 w/ my hand and 2 w/ kicks) but it remains to be seen if I will walk tomorrow!

Hmmm, what's a weekend...nevermind a long weekend? Actually we are between sports right now(basketball tryouts were last night) so what will I do? Probably clean the house. The play room is really a total pit and its time to get some toys out of there since birthdays and Christmas are coming up fast. That is seriously at least a day long project though so I dread it.
Tomorrow night we are doing an early dinner in the North End (Boston, that is ), then going to the Bruins/Sabers game, so that should at least be a little bit of fun in there.

It's not a long 3-day weekend for us. Just normal 2 days like any other...

My old bosses wife died last week from my job 2 jobs ago. I worked with him for 18 years so I am going to her memorial service tomorrow WAY OUT in Virginia somewhere on the other side of Fairfax County....am meeting up with a couple other people from the company to carpool as it's pretty far and not the kind of thing you want to go to alone... It was one of those horrible stories - she just retired this summer....found out about 5 or 6 weeks ago that she had cancer...went from a 6 mo. prognosis to 1 month to 2 weeks all in a weeks time & she died about 4 days after they said 2 weeks!!!! I mean, literally, he called me on a Thurs nite to tell me she had 2 weeks and she died that Sunday!

So, tonite is cleaning, tomorrow is the memorial service which will shoot most of the day, then Sunday, DH has his home skins game (Eagles) and I need to work outside finishing up with cutting down perennials and shutting down the pond. Then he goes to Albany, NY on Mon. AM for an overnite business trip so I have to get his stuff ready for that Sun. nite since he won't be home.... So basically, nothing fun going on for us!

CamColt - thanks for the link on Yak & Yeti - maybe we'll just try the counter service thing when we're there! I made us a ressie at Whispering Canyon for the Sun. nite of our trip, but I think since we're only there 3 days it's too much to try any more ressies (and we're doing the Pirate party on the Mon. nite....) But lunch would be good! I hope it's good. Sounds like ppl are knocking the menu already & it's not even published yet! I have faith it will be good....

Wonder how Sue Ellen's cruise was....and Sean's weekend?! No word from either of them all week!
