The DIS-Functional WonderPeeps are Triple-Dippin' Castaway Cay! 7/20 & 7/24, 2008

Hey there guys & gals...quiet evening 'eh? DS left his new glasses in his bedroom floor & DH stepped on them...guess we have something else to do now tomorrow besides enjoy a beautiful 75 degree bonus day off!:sad2: Hair cuts are at 10:30...might try to go drop the glasses off at 10 when they open & go back lafter our haircuts to pick 'em up...

Started a new mission - replacing the sheers in the family room that Buzz has eaten into shreds. I'm no longer amused with them as he's gotten worse about it lately and the place looks like crap! Bought 8 panels & 1 scarf this evening at Bed, Bath & Beyond (been hoarding 20% off coupons which you know never really expire there). Anyway, I put one set up on one window - I like them but with the way they're made I don't like that I can now see the top of the pleated shades under them (we don't have a nice valance cover). The old sheers had a header on top & covered the darn thing. I asked DH about raising the rods a couple of inches - he'd rather I go find other curtains!:rotfl: He also wanted to know if Buzz would eat these or not - like I can answer such a silly question! They're a Rayon / Poly mix - do you think if I ask Buzz he's gonna actually tell me if they're an acceptable item for his diet?! Geeze Louise! The cat's a freak! He's eaten the silk & nylon ones and the plain polyester ones. If I could've predicted that he would've eaten the last 3 sets I'd have several hundred dollars more in my 2012 cruise fund now wouldn't I?!:lmao: All I can do is keep trying different fabrics and weights and hope I find one he doesn't want to eat! These aren't really sheers. They're lightweight, but are a little heavier. I suppose now that I have to go to the mall tomorrow to get DS's glasses fixed we COULD park outside of Penney's instead of Lord & Taylor. They typically have a good window treatment dept. If I don't find anything there then I might have to go to The Great Indoors...:sad2: Raising the rods by 2" sounds better (and cheaper) to me................The Great Indoors is a real danger zone for me!!!!!! I was there almost every week when we were finishing the basement - but ordering big stuff like tile and toilets & shower doors and carpet!:goodvibes Hummmm...

well... it's not really all you can do...

Ophie!
I'm thinking you must not be a cat person! I know a lot of people don't understand - but Buzz & Woody technically belong to DS...he calls them his "cat brothers". And other than Buzz's little eating disorder they're the sweetest pus__y cats ever....but s-o-o-o-o I can't quite do what I think you're implying!:sad2:

OK, it's getting more fall-like - only 57 degrees this morning!

:scared:

Got my football picks in....this week was much harder for me to choose. Guess we'll see!

Tzm/Johnna/Sean: you guys got yours in yet?? Did any of you have trouble choosing this week...or is it just me?

Annie - I am sure what Ophie means is that perhaps you could try to dissuade said cat from eating drapes by trying a "Scat" type spray, or garlic powder or maybe she might forego the drapes altogether for a great view of the yard. Yes, I am sure that is what she meant.:hyper:

RJ - have not seen the football picks yet. I am expecting this week to actually be easier though. Do not ever pick Oakland or Clevelend and Indianapolis and Dallas are good to go. I know the SD/Pats game will stump me. Maybe I can save a little face this week and get some points back. But I am ahead of Sean. he he he:cool2:

Bets - what's up? It is Thursday you know. One more day...you can make it!!:yay: And hey, where is my 2 lb package!?:confused3

DH has been out of town - came home last night for a sleep over and flew out to SD this morning. Poor guy. I am home with a feverish 7 year old and a 7 week old (can you believe she is that old already!?) who does not want to nap. Though I should keep it down - she is actually sleeping right now.:tiptoe:

I think my cat is under the guest bed eating wrapping paper.

you vote against your "hometown" team ? :scared1:
(and like ophie says, there are ways of making cats stop bad behaviors :cool2: )

feel better Ryan:sick: - popscicles are the best remedy. Take one every half-hour. Mama gets one too.

See... TRM gets me. Wouldn't some sort of persuasion spray be less expensive than buying 16 sets of drapes looking for the "least yummy to cats" kind??

I was just saying that compulsive shopping wasn't likely to literally be the "only" option. ;)

I wish those sprays would've worked. Trust me - I've emptied my share of various brands / cans / pumps / organic and otherwise....all they did was make US not want to go into the room for the smell. THEN we moved on to the indoor invisible pet fence idea...you can see the transmitter thingy on their collars here as they said goodbye to the old sheers today:

These things were expensive and we've only had limited success with them. They work fine with Woody, but Buzz has this obsession that he apparently can't overcome. He constantly "tests" the batteries in his collar and will ignore the shock in order to steal a few bites! Yes. He has a serious problem! He has destroyed 3 sets of sheers despite various nasty foul smelling sprays and shock collars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But today, I got a little retro. :hippie: I KNEW JCP would have some interesting top treatments to pick from! I'm going with a throw-back to the Hippie Beads!! I don't THINK he'll eat these!!!! What do you think?! I just wanted a little accent color / touch of something else interesting to go with the shades...

I think he'll attack them until he gets a whole strand down.

Maybe he's really an outdoor cat?

Maybe he needs a pet therapist, a cat whisperer...

:confused3

an exorcist?

Bad Kitty!

:lmao: Playing in the beads will be like "white noise" compared to some of the other stuff these two do at night! They still get the "night crazies" when we go to bed...so we always hear all sorts of crashes & thumps & kitchen chairs scooting & falling!!! :rotfl2: Oh we are a zoo!! We're to the point now that we only get up to see what it was if it sounds like it could've been glass breaking!! (Another reason we don't let them sleep with us - 'cuz they DON'T sleep! If you move they POUNCE!):rotfl:
So we'll see how the beads go - SO FAR they have only looked & sniffed! (And they don't have front claws - so they can't climb them like ropes... You should see what they did to a couple of our leather chairs before the claws were removed!:scared1: OMG! )
