Well Gentlemen, 1 week from today we will be driving to Columbus Ohio to fly out to Disney early the next morning. It is getting closer!!! The only bad thing is that when I made the trip reservations I did not know that Marshall had a home game so I am going to have to miss the MU Cincy game on Friday night. Small price to say I'd say! Anyone else going to be there Oct 4-11?

I screwed up & forgot the dates until it was too late.:sad2: :sad2: I was going to do it & have my wife do it & see if WE could get on the panel. Answering Disney questions on the computer every day??? That might be my dream job:woohoo: :woohoo: Either that or monorail driver.

Sorry, I've already applied for that job! lol

OK... so I return to the forum and everyone gets quiet. :rolleyes1 I feel like one of those guys that walks into a room and BAM... everyone gets quiet :confused3 :rotfl2:

Anyway... I just had to get something off my chest - I hadn't been back to the forums because I had Disney withdrawal... BAD. Seemed every time I tried to get here to read the posts after my April visit I would get the blues. And now you are wondering why? Well, my wife just doesn't get Disney. I mean, she's not anti-Disney or anything. But she would rather go vacation any place else but WDW. Seemed like I'll never get back to that magical place where dreams come true.

Then I get a special offer from Rewards... free dining... 12/14-12/20. I've never been to WDW during Christmas. Maybe? Just maybe I could talk the wife into going? I don't know. I've been testing the waters over the last few days, and all I get from her is "You're not thinking about Disney again this year, are you?". Ummmm... hello? Yes, I am. Am I crazy? I just got the call back from my agent... AS Sports is available the dates we would go. My stomach is in knots thinking about the conversation that would ensue from my first words... "Honey, I have an idea...".

So here's where you guys come in. Any tips on how I can start a winning conversation? :scared:

Oh, that's an easy one. "Honey, we're going to go to WDW for vacation just before Christmas. Well, either we are, or I am, it's your choice."

Hey there DIS Dads! Checking back in over here and wanted to say hi. Been spending more time on another mou$e owner$ site but had to reply to a couple things here. And I haven't hit the lottery yet either!

Any Dad's willing to admit they applied for the Disney Mom's panel? There's currently a Dad on this years panel so chances are there will be at least one on next years panel.

Indeed I applied and hoping like heck I do get picked!

Anyway... I just had to get something off my chest - I hadn't been back to the forums because I had Disney withdrawal... BAD. Seemed every time I tried to get here to read the posts after my April visit I would get the blues.

Not sure if this will help with the blues or not but a friend on the other site shared this link and I'm not sure if any of you have been made aware or not. It's all Disney music...great for background tunes as you whistle away your day. Check it out... http://www.subsonicradio.com/ Makes me feel like I'm in the world 24/7!!

I had the blues too this past January and it took me a few weeks to get back on the boards. It really is a strange experience to go from an emotional high to such extreme emotional lows. Knowing that I'll get back one day soon helps out some.

Before you present the trip to your wife do your homework!:thumbsup2 My wife likes to know that the Disney trip is not just planned around the interest of my son and I. She has to feel included in the plans or she will feel like she is just a tag along. Find at least three things that would interest your wife and include them in your presentation. Examples would be shopping, spa treatments, dinning at a restaurant that features her favorite foods, planned mommy & daddy alone time, a romantic disney fireworks cruise, etc. You can go to Disney and make your wife feel like the trip is all about HER. :cool2: Also, try to get your wife to help out with MOST of the plans and see how excited she becomes about the Disney Trip. It will help build her anticipation knowing that she is going on a trip to do things that are of her interest and that she helped plan.

I'm back from my Vegas trip. My wife and I had a great time. We saw Criss Angel's new show at the Luxor hotel "Believe." Awesome show! The Luxor Hotel was nice to stay in too with great restaurants. You know what I was doing the whole time I was there? While conversating with my wife I would compare everything to Disney. :lmao: While we were in the New York New York Hotel I told my wife, "THis would be a great theme for a hotel at Disney." "Look at the detail of this place. Only Disney would put greater emphasis on the detailing of their property." My wife is use to it by now. :rotfl: I'll post pics from my trip later.

First, to the poster that suggested the spa @ SSR- good call. My wife goes there once just about every trip and LOVES IT!!! Second, we go every year the second week of Dec. because of all the Christmas decorations & special events. So..... My suggestion is to focus on the Christmas aspect of the trip. NOBODY does Christmas like Disney!!!! Everything at Disney is decorated for Christmas, and it is beautiful!!! Find some youtube video of the Osborne lights at the Studios, and some pics of the decorations at the hotels and parks. If that doesn't convince her... call me and I'll go with ya :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Seriously, anyone I've ever talked to who has gone to Disney at Christmastime wants to go every year. It is truly AMAZING!!!!

Anyway, good luck and I hope it all turns out. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Emma's Dad I got 2 words for you .

Peppermint Pedicure. My Wife loved it for our DEC trip in 05 or 06 . SSr did a great job

The Holidays are something I think everyone should do at least once and a good offer is just whats needed.

We like the halloween and MNSSHP a bit better but don't regret the Dec trip one bit.

Also for that time your looking at I thought it was very nice crowd wise then we went from the 18th-23rd the year we went.

TDF glad you had a great Vegas Trip

Try what I do. First book the trip Then look for clips on U-Tube. You should be able to see a few with the castle lighting, Epcot lights, Osborne lights, Mickey's Christmas part and so on. Then tell her about the special offer. Then ask her if it's stupid to go at Christmas. If she says yes go without her if she says no it's not stupid tell her you booked the trip. Good luck.

Wow, that is tough. Definitely turning it around and into a celebration of her is a good thought as the other guys have said... are there any activities that she would just get pumped about? In my house, my wife turned down the spa thing when I offered it to her a few months back...but is all jazzed up and really wants to try the parasailing over Bay Lake. She did that in Hawaii as a teenager, and just really wants to try it again. She also thinks an afternoon of bass fishing would be cool. Both are things we plan to try, and at least one of them will be on our 15th anniversary trip next February when we go sans kids... what about researching the various tour options and if there's one that just hands down appeals to her interests, book one. Good luck brother - here's some pixiedust: to hopefully help inspire you

First answer: If you are crazy you are in some really great company here!! :worship: :worship:

Onward, I agree with every one here try making this trip more her than you. I don't know how much vacation you get, or how the $$$$ works for you, but when I asked my wife she suggested that you plan 2 trips a year or every other trip 1 her way the next your way? then if all else fails.......

use the kids....."but honey the kids want to see Disney all done up for Christmas"........."How can we not give the kids a great vacation"......."ssssshhhhh, kids tell your Mom you will just die if you can't get to Disney this year!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

GOOD LUCK
