Hey guys - it aint' FL or CA - but I sure enjoyed my time yesterday and today in the World of Disney on 5th Avenue in New York! I love that place and HAVE TO go every time I'm in the city for one reason or another - regardless of whether I'm traveling alone (as I was this time) or with someone else (I drag them along by force when needed - :lmao: ). Got some new pins for the kids to trade when we go to WDW in just 35 days. While there I also picked up a new book about some of the legendary imagineers, some new Disney character based playing cards to leave in our Owner's Locker, and the Disney parks version of UNO - those are for home, the plain version will go with us and stay in the OL. Man, it's so hard to walk into that store and NOT walk out empty handed!! :rotfl2:

There was the big media event in NYC today where Disney's Jay Rasoulo announced the new marketing campaign for '09 - What Will You Celebrate - don't know if you all saw anything about it yet or not... but in '09, both WDW and DL will give you free admission to a park on your birthday... so if you were not planning on being there at that time but want to - now you have a reason to go. The press release said something about giving an alternate choice if you already have a multi-day ticket that you would normally use for your visit - but not what that/those choice(s) might be.

Disney Vacation Club also announced that Bay Lake Tower sales are scheduled to begin on Sept. 21

Too funny - over on the DVC pages this announcement has been waited for absolutely SOOOOOOOOOOOOO very long. Tuesday morning, I had to be up at 4:30 in order to be ready to get to a 6:30 meeting and then hit the road from NH down through MA and into RI. I was checking the DIS as I normally do, and saw a post giving the news about the BLT announcement - as reported in the Orlando Sentinel. Basically the OS was given the scoop and some DIS'er saw it on their website and quickly posted it on the DIS. I was the very 2nd poster - the first to respond to that posting and got to add my 2 cents worth to the information before anybody else did - of the literally hundreds of DIS'ers who have been nearly dying with anticipation. It was fun to see that that same posting was up to like 20 pages by the time I hit the hotel Tuesday evening! :lmao: Talk about anticipation.

BLT will certainly be the most expensive DVC to date though, coming in at $112 per point. (AKV currently sells for $104 per point - the current $8 incentive or $96 per point). All other resorts are priced at $104, or less via resale. My guide phoned me at about 9:30 that morning to "give some good news" - that BLT was finally announced and sales would commence this Sunday. I basically said thanks but no thanks. We have no interest in owning at BLT - sure we might stay there at some point in the future, (and it certainly won't stop us from going to look at the models when at WDW in a few weeks), but our next purchase will be at the Grand Californian at DLR. The Treehouses do have appeal for us, but that will have to remain to be seen...

Hey dads there is a great DVC show on the travel channel.:thumbsup2

I was wondering if they would mention the new BLT since it looked like a new show. What a view that would be of the MK! I am a little surprised that they didn't mention the Treehouse Villas though.

Wish I could afford DVC...:sad1:

pirate: I'm in! I meet so many of the criteria it's a bit frightening. What's wierd is that my wife and I never went to DW until I was in my early 50's - and we went then due to a work conference being held at the Contemporary Resort. My wife had the days free and I could not believe what I saw when we met in the afternoon - a woman possessed - in a great "I Love Disney" way! The good news - I felt exactly the same way! We are now DVC folks and have made numerous trips. I just wish I could load two DVC countdowns on the website - we've always got two planned!!

I saw this announcement as well and it is really exciting because we will be there on DD10's birthday! :woohoo: We will go ahead and buy her ticket anyway since we will be there for a week. I guess that she will get one of the other three gifts which according to the FAQ page are:

* A special birthday FASTPASS badge+ for select attractions at the Theme Park you visit on your birthday
* A Birthday Fun Card in an amount equal to the price of a 1-day Magic Your Way base ticket for you to use on your birthday at select participating locations at the Walt Disney World Resort for select merchandise, recreation, or other gated attractions or for Disney's PhotoPass on-site services
* A 1-day Magic Your Way base ticket for you to use any time until your next birthday

:thumbsup2

Hey guys! Wow... I cannot believe how long it's been since I visited the forum. Now I need to get caught on all that's been happening.

It's going to take me a few days to get the Dad's list updated with all the new dads. I'll update it when I can. Anyway... thought I'd say hi! :)

:rotfl: Hey - I was thinkin' about you a couple of days ago - wondering about when you'd pop back in with an updated list! We definitely have a bunch of new guys stopping by. Glad you're back. :thumbsup2

I was surprised about the Tree House Villas not being mentioned too. I am just glad that they are back. I always wanted to stay there and never had the opportunity. I thought that the Tree Houses were gone forever and now the opportunity presents itself again. I LOVE DISNEY! :cool1:

Hi...Im in Middletown kY at my sisters ....5 mins away from the Ryder Cup and Im watching it on TV...lol TOO MUCH TRAFFIC

Wow, I am starting on the DIS boards all over again, and how great to find a Disney DAd's section. My wife has been keeping our ties to the DIS-boards alive the last couple of years, and she pointed me to this thread/subject last night. I definitely fit the bill, having mateched way more of the criteria than many adult men would want to confess. I am so glad there are more men like me. Anyway, I am glad to be back and hopefully I can be added to your list of Memebers.

Thanks for consideration!:smickey: :smickey:

Just found out this week at work that we are no longer allowed to carry vacation time over from one year to the next. We have a new township administrator and he has nixed this long standing practice. I still have 10 vacation days left for 2008, now I have to find something to do with them. I had planned on carrying those days over into 2009 incase I needed them for "sn*w days" until next Spring.

Oh the plight, vacations days to use up, and don't know what to do.......:rotfl:

Let's see, I still have 50 DVC points to use as well, maybe an early fall trip to OKW and a week at our vacation home in Lake County, Florida will do the trick......:goodvibes
