I got choked up last night thinking about our 'little girl' and how much she loved going to see 'Honey I Shrunk the Audience'. When I heard they were taking that down soon, it brought back a bunch of happy memories. It reinforced how special each moment is and that it only happens for that one small slice of time in your life.

:sad1:

I'm hoping for grandkids!

Enjoy your day Dads!

:thumbsup2

My oldest is now a sophmore in college and has signed a contract with the Navy for when he graduates. He is still looking forward to our trip around New Years and excited we already have one scheduled for the week of July 4th. Pretty soon he will be travelling the world and we will see very little of him for a few years, so even now that time is precious.

He seems so big and bad now, but it seems like only yesterday he was 2 and 1/2 and we were taking him to WDW for the first time. Back then, you went through Mickey's Country House and into a stage show before you got to spend time in Mickey's "Dressing Room" getting autographs and pictures. We were sitting right down front on the right side of the stage when during the show they would release a CO2 cloud and Chip and Dale would appear. When that noise, flashing lights and cool smoke descended upon us, he climbed out of his seat, up my arm, and literally onto my head begging for us to leave. We laugh about it now. It is one of those precious memories so I know how you feel about HISTA.

OK... so DD and I are going to see HSM3 this Sunday afternoon :goodvibes She is super excited and now all she wants to do is watch HSM1 & 2 :rotfl:
I appreciate all the feedback and stories... it helps to put it in perspective when others have children who have grown up and are now looking back at the times I'm at now. She'll be 6 next month already!

Emma's Dad, you wuss,:sad2: I can't believe you gave in to all the pressure. :rotfl: :rotfl2: Good for you. :thumbsup2 I bet it has already been worth it seeing how excited she is.:)

And BTW, you can come back and tell us you actually had a good time. We're all DIS Dads here, so we will understand. After all, it IS Disney!

Besides, if we don't have kids to love them, spend time with them popcorn:: and spoil them, why bother???

I'm not gonna lie...DW said that she wanted to see these movies and I didn't even resist simply because it's Disney :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

HAHA! Yeah... I'm a big wuss... a pushover :scared: :rotfl:
I can't let my princess down! The kingdom would be in ruins! But I can say this... I'm definitely bringing ear plugs ;)

Great picture! Which one are you?

OHHH Huntington Beach is my absolute favorite... I grew up going to Huntington. It's surfer paradise - did you check out the surfer walk of fame, too? BJ's is great! I can't wait to eat there again myself. I leave for Cali this Saturday for a week of company related meetings. And of course I'll be heading to my favorite Magic Kingdom - Disneyland! We just got back from WDW last night. It was, of course, bittersweet to leave. I hate leaving, but we only have 112 days til DW and I go back to celebrate our 15th anniversary - so that makes it better.

We loved it there this week. The crowds were amazingly lite, and most of our ride wait times were 15 or less. We didn't even need to get FP's, but we did anyway. The buses were not crowded, the wait time for restaurants was not bad at all, and the kids had a great time. DD4 went on Splash for the very first time - and absolutely loved it! Her first mountain, yay! She didn't want to try Big Thunder or Space yet, but that's okay, there's always next time.

DW, unfortunately, was sick throughout the week. She does childcare one day a week at our church, and one of those dumb moms who didn't want to admit her kid was sick brought him or her anyway and sadly gave it to DW. She was pretty miserable, but sucked it up for the family's sake and trudged along to everything. The only things she opted out of were swimming and any of the stuff at Blizzard Beach...but that made perfect sense. It definitely helped remind us for next time what kinds of things to make sure we have with us instead of having to buy at the hotel shops or DTD - cough medicine, drops, etc. WOW - those Disney prices. Oh well.

We loved staying at the Boardwalk - it was lots of fun. The night time performers sure are fun to watch. I marveled at the sword swallower dude, and the jugglers were just plain fun. The Keister Coaster pool there is really fun too... I had just as much fun on that slide as the kids did. If you can stay there sometime - do.

Animal Kingdom Villas were incredible. That's our home resort, and this was our first DVC stay as DVC members. We had only seen the models, and really fell in love with that resort by our 2nd night. (The 1st night, unfortunately, was not as good as it could of/should of been). Upon check-in, despite confirming for the desk agent that we had 3 kids - they assigned us to a handicap room. Now I have nothing against disabled folks at all - and I'm quite pleased that there are rooms designed specifically for their extra needs - but honestly the resorts should keep those rooms specifically for the folks that need them - and not parcel them out to the folks that don't. The HC rooms do not have bathtubs. DD4 does not yet take showers, but baths. See where I'm going here? 5 nights in a HC room would not be good for us. And honestly, those whirlpool tubs are definitely part of why we joined DVC... to not have one, is just not cool. Once we got upstairs and realized what had happened - of course I was immediately on the phone with the front desk. There was nothing they could do for us for that night - but the next day we could switch rooms for the duration of our stay. Ok, we could suck it up and deal with it. We had already changed resorts once - but to have to change rooms again was not a pleasant thought. So upon strict orders from mom and dad - nothing was unpacked or opened that night except to get clothes to sleep in and for the next day. Thank goodness for Bell Services handling the move for us. It wasn't fun, but we lived through it. The rest of the trip, went off rather well, thankfully. And oh that whirlpool tub - I relaxed myself in it several times.... sure helped some aching feet and joints. Ahhh.

There's just so much to tell, but I won't now. I'll put together a more detailed TR later. I will also upload some photos in the coming days. If you haven't tried eating at BOMA before at the AKL - do it, it was great. Also YAK & YETI at AK. This was my 2nd time at Y&Y and I just love it. It's Pan Asian food, and oh so yummy. Both of these were instant family hits that everyone wants to go back to next time.

We did end up having the opportunity to eat at T-Rex, but they are not yet accepting any Landry's based gift cards (we had a Rainforest Cafe one) or honoring the RC Safari Club card for the discount - they aren't taking ressies or accept the other Landry's restaurant GC's or the Safari Club card until Jan. 1st - so we kept simply our RC ressie, but DID get to walk thru and take pics since it wasn't busy that day for lunch time. The theme is great, and the execution too. Now we have something new to look forward to next time.

Have a great rest of your Sunday dads! :)

Hi, we were in a hurry to make our apptmnet to watch a whale and didnt do alot shop seeing at Huntington Beech but it was a great place...Im am the tall one to the the right an glasses and tan shirt leaning on the railing

OK... I have to ask... which one of you guys have been out to see High School Musical 3? :rolleyes1 I have to ask, because DD(5) is in this stage now where she will ONLY do things unless Daddy does them with her. And so... now I'm at the point where I have to decide:

A.) Be the macho guy and say "No way, no how." Which means she won't go see the movie.
B.) "OK... I'll go with you. But only you claim I'm your music agent..." - Basically suck it up and go "enjoy" it with her.
C.) Say, "I'll think about it..." and then never bring it up again (or until DVD comes out). I don't think this scenario will play out.

I'm kind-of torn. I've seen bits of the previous movies and was not very interested. But DD NEVER wants to go to the movies. She's not into movies at all... except this one. What would you guys do? :confused3

Definitely "B". As a dad two two little girls, I KNOW that it is only going to be a matter of time before they enter the stage where they want nothing to do with us. So enjoy this special time while you're her hero and just go with it! Enjoy the movie!

DW, DD and I went and saw HSM 3 this afternoon, we all enjoyed it. The romantic part of me got misty-eyed in a few parts of the movie. I also saw our DD wiping her eyes a few times as well. With her being a recent high school graduate, I think some parts of the movie got to her more than she thought they would.

So we made plans to see the 3:45 pm showing at the local Cinema Café (Cinnamon Café according to DD :rotfl2: ) on Sunday. Sometime during church, it was decided that there would be more people attending this function… me, DW, DD, and another family we are close with (boy (5), girl (8) and their DM). Hurray! I’ve got a support group now

I must say, DD was even more excited about going to this movie than she was the first time we entered Magic Kingdom  . Seriously... I was astounded at the excitement level emanating from my little girl. Yeah… a little rubbed off on me, too :goodvibes .

As we arrive at the theater and are trying to decide on seating arrangements, it was immediately apparent there was going to be a show-down. :crowded: DD wanted to sit next to me and girl(8)… but boy(5) wanted to sit next to DD… and DW wanted to sit next to me. OH… the insanity. It almost came down to a heated rock-paper-scissor tournament… but ultimately, DW barked the marching orders and we all ended up in our “proper” places. Yes… I landed next to DW. And DD was happily seated between boy and girl.

OK… on with the show. This place we went to, Cinema Café, serves food while the movie is showing. Not sure if you guys have these things around your part of the town, but this is really cool... dinner and a movie. We settled on popcorn and drinks for the show popcorn:: since we already made plans for a pizza run afterward. The movie starts and everyone gets into the HSM singing and dancing. There was plenty of action right from the start. DD was GLUED to the screen the whole time. This is amazing, because my dear DD does not EVER sit through a movie. There are times when I think the phrase “ants-in-your-pants” was created just for my DD! But this movie totally captivated her and she now wants to go see it again.

For me, the movie was OK. My DW and I got a few chuckles throughout the movie as we made light of some of the scenes (you know… high school drama). But for the family time and for the memories, I give it an A+ :grouphug:
