OK, it's now as official as it can be until I'm actually booked. I've achieved WAF (Wife Approval Factor) for a solo trip back to WDW for Reunion 2011. The plane ticket is free - I have SWA credits I need to use before they expire, and it's value season. So it looks like I'm going for sure.

Last chance- anyone want to join me and split the cost of the room? I'm looking at December 7-11, probably staying at Pop.

Aaron, I would love to take you up on that offer....unfortunately I'm all out of vacation for the year!

Question for all the bourbon drinkers out there...

I'm looking into getting a bottle of something for a very special someone (me),
and would love some recommendations on what we have at the store.

Makers Mark
Makers Mark 46
Knob Creek
Knob Creek Reserve 8yr
Elijah Craig 10 yr
Jefferson Small Batch
Four Roses Small Batch
Bookers
Bakers Straight Kentucky
Basil Hayden Straight
Corner Creek
and soon we'll have some Eagle Rare 10yr (I hope)

Moneys tight enough that DW wil only let me grab one, although I recall winning a large bottle of rum somewhere that is still re-sellable that I could exchange and grab a second bottle...

Knob Creek is a good one...burns a little on the first sip until you get used to it. Jefferson's is good as well....a little less potent. My all time fav, but unfortunately not on your list, is Woodford Reserve!

Sorry, I don't do the cards and didn't even think to ask for you. I'll see if I can get some today and hope they survive the rain.

Norm, just thought it would be something that the kids might have fun trying to get:confused3

I have the whole set, I don't need any, but if you did get some, and don't want them, make it a prize that a Dis Dad can win, I'm sure more then a few would like to get some:confused3:goodvibes

I don't think we want to commit to a single locations. Stormalong Bay is cool, but I'd like to put in a vote for La Cave de Tequila too. :cool1:

POG juice.
Yummmmmmmmmmmmm.

Pog juice. I wonder what the difference is between Lilikoi juice at the Poly. Both are great.

What I think I heard Aaron say is that we are ok to start a non-profit DisDad's club with the sole purpose of the dues going to plan Disney meet and greets for DisDads. (Yeah, he really didn't say that but let's pretend.) I have not been to SAB and am always game for Tequila.

I have 2 or 3 Makers collectible bottles at home and 1 other open for drinking. Basil Hayden is related, but not close enough to get royalties. I had a friend bartending and serve his future wife Four Roses (on the house) and they served Four Roses at the wedding reception. I like Woodford Reserve, but Makers is my favorite. I've not had the Makers 64, but it sounds like a get to try something new and give you a report. KY may be bad in some areas as in 1/5 of our population receives social security (yeah, so next time Republican McConnell squawks about Federal money, know where he is sending it), but we know our bourbon. The natural aging process from all 4 seasons is terrific.

Well with the fire today at MK looks like Norm and our other Dads who are there have been treated to Flood and Fire this week. I guess Famine would be next on the list right?:rotfl2:

My Disney hating dad friend was at MK today. He brought the voodoo with him. We were at DHS. Thankfully, he's leaving tomorrow for the beach and taking his voodoo with him.

Only took the bus today but forgot again to ask. I am just not in the habit. I tried them for my dds, but they were not interested. I'll try tomorrow. I like the prize idea.

The next installment. Today was at DHS.

Why is the hat the only one without a ride or dining inside? Anyway, it was a soggy day, raining for 3 straight hours. We took our time getting there and went in to get FP for TSM. It was an hour stand by wait, so just FP. Our youngest wanted to ride RRNC.

RRNC.jpg

Now, she has never been on RRNC before and is 7. She liked it so much that she rode it 3 times in a row. Thankfully, the weather was bad so everyone else was inside somewhere so we waited 10 minutes and rode it, waited 15 minutes and rode it, waited 20 minutes and rode it. I love coasters as well.

Then, over to TOT since it is next door.

TOT.jpg

Only a 20 minute wait, but the rain had slowed down enough so it was worth it.

Afterwards, we did our lunch/ Belle show trick. Grab food at Rosie's and/ or the one next door door, eat lunch while watching the show. It is a great way to rest, have a live show, and then get back on to the rest of the park. Over to TSM.

TSMM.jpg

Again, only 1 ride today. I only managed 127,000. Getting too old to be quickly pulling on that trigger ..... We got some other favorites in - muppets, Ariel show, Walt history, Great American Movie Ride. The best was the new Star Tours.

stormtroopers.jpg

We liked the new upgrade with C3PO and show. But, it wasn't until we rode it the second time and got the simulator with Vader using the force to stop our star ship. Wow!!!!!!! Star Tours was a must before, but now, it goes higher on that list. We were able to catch the Stormtroopers waiting for their cue in jedi training.

The only ones I wanted to do today but missed was the backlot tour and Indiana Jones show. But, part of that was due to weather and multiple rides in the AM and other was just bad timing. But, we had a great day and managed to capture this shot.

oscar.jpg

As we took our pictures with Frozone and Mr. Incredible, we exited and these. I thought it was cool.

So, a great day. Everyone is sleeping. I am posting and drinking some Stella Artois (vacation beer). After the first Fantasmic show, we snuck out right at the end to beat the rush and made it on the first bus back to BLT. Then, up to TOTWL to watch Wishes. Make that a super terrific day. More tomorrow ....

Vacation ownage.

I'm jealous. We would love to go in October but it's tough with a teacher in the family. Maybe after we win the lottery and put all this work stuff behind us. :rotfl2:

We start school in August and get a week in October for Fall Break. I get 2 holidays that same week as well, so only 3 vacation days for me. It is a great time to go - small crowds and fewer DVC points.

Happy birthday Ryan :cool1:

We went to the children's museum here in Indy yesterday and while my wife and daughters were looking at the Barbie exhibit I noticed these lamps hanging from the ceiling. And at the right angle.....voila!

IMG_1316-1.jpg

Terrific shot, even if it is from my nemesis.

Wow! I drafted Chuck Norris to my fantasy Team, he now has 10 Lombardi Trophies, could have something to do with the fact he can hit a home run at a football game:lmao::lmao:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I walked by TOTWL and saw Packers down 0-14. I have Rodgers and GB defense in same league. I'm going to see if I can trade for Chuck Norris next week.

Great update Norm, Glad your having a good time:banana:

Thanks. I'm having the time of my life and just want to keep going. Before DW fell asleep, I half jokingly asked if we could go to pool and let dds sleep. I think they are old enough and we would tell them where we were going. Anyway, DW says no and looks down at the pool and says it looks like some woman in a bikini is down at the pool. I ask if I can go swimming without her. She told me not to come back to the room. I figured I'd post some pics, check my fantasy leagues, as opposed to checking out ....

You should have said Why would I come back to our room:lmao: Next would be the smack and down for the count, Good nights rest for Norm:lmao:

Welcome. Initiation fees may be paid in dole whips or bacon.

Good morning guys :cool1:

Norm, thanks for the pics and the updates :thumbsup2

Jeff, welcome to the club

Morning Dave. Went to bed with everyone asleep and they are all still sleeping. I guess 11.5 hours in a theme park makes some people tired. Well, I am out on the balcony waiting for the sunrise. I saw a boat just head across Bay Lake towards WL. Looks cloudy but it's not raining - yeah!

Norm brought up a good point that we could become a not for profit and have a convention at DW or DL for that matter. It got me thinking what the structure might look like. Maybe some higher level manager dads could offer some insight as well.

- Have it on a two or three year rotational basis
- Line up guest speakers from Disney, i.e. IT folks, GKTW people, Make a Wish Foundation
- By lining up with a charity maybe we could be more visible.
- We could work with All Pro Dad as well. Have workshops on the imprtance of fatherhood, family, etc.
- be no longer then 2-3 days
- for fun we could do 101 uses for bacon (thats for you Randall :thumbsup2)
- I could see Mark and Aaron doing a live podcast from the Poly.
- Of course the must have photo of all the Disdads on Main St!

Let me know what you guys think. It may be a pipe dream, but other organizations have started on less!

Thanks for the welcome if that is all the initiation costs we would have to trade places for the dole whip and for the bacon i would have too hire an iron chef Michael Symon :lmao:

Welcome Jeff, this is a pretty good spot to hang out, as long as you brought the bacon. :rotfl2:

I survived and I am able to type!!:banana: Main coronary arteries are open!!:cool1::cool1: Thank sof the prayers...there are some blockages in the "micro vessels" and he said that ws common with diabetics and he put me on a medication for the chest "ache" I refuse to call it a pain!:) They did not give me much medication so I was able to lie there and watch everything and remember it....I was able to see for myself how widley patent everything was! Having it done through the right radial artery was a breeze!!!
Glad things worked out well for you! :thumbsup2

The Disney Visa is smokin'. My phone was blowing up with alerts as well from Chase. I better raise those limits. I bought some new pins, DW clothes, and dds toys. I'm going to get to monorail to go along with castle and Epcot ball for our home. Don't tell DW. She doesn't know yet. Both dds are asleep on the bus ride from DTD back to BLT. Our room is ready!
Really? You of all people are posting things in the DDC and saying not to tell your DW??? :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

‘Morning all

Fall Break? That would be helpful. Everyone has a spring break, so everything is crowded no matter where you go (or don’t go for that matter).

Thanks for the pictures and updates as well. It may be a while before I get back down there and y’all’s write-ups are all I’ve got for now.

I do believe that you’re going to fit in nicely ‘round here.
80 degrees today you say? So… where about’s do you call home?

Never mind… I just reread you’re post (I wasn’t expecting that kind of temp from Long Island at this time of year)

Norm brought up a good point that we could become a not for profit…

…It may be a pipe dream, but other organizations have started on less!

I’ll raise a Dole Whip and a glass of bourbon to this idea. The toast would go something like this:

“Gents’… Here’s to pipe dreams.
At my age, there just about the only kind of dreams I’ve got left.”
:lmao:

I really like the idea of a mass get together. Not sure we need to go the non-profit route though. I am not a lawyer nor do I play one on TV but worked for non-profits for 17 years. Depending on the state you incorporate in, there are hoops you need to go through.

In Florida for instance, you need to also register with the Florida Department of Consumer Affairs, elect officers and maintain a board that meets “regularly,” file reports with the state, a 990 with the IRS and depending on the size you need audited financial records. We could do it but the only benefit I see is sales tax exceptions for events. Dues could be tax deductible for individuals but I don’t think that would amount to much. Travel and an individual’s costs for events is not.

I don’t think that other Disney groups that do similar things are organized as a non-profit but still hold events and raise money for charity. If we do pick a charity(s) individual contributions would be deductible under the donee’s tax deductible status.

Not to put a damper on things because I really like the idea. I just don’t think we need to become a non-profit. If we do decide to incorporate, I would be glad to lend a hand.
