Been there, done that so I feel your pain. Thanks for the stream, I will be checking in periodically. Hopefully we won’t see anything too interesting.

Just on the news they had a story about Floridians calling relatives in the NE to provide hints and tips for getting through the storm. For anyone interested, here is the Miami-Dade Hurricane preparedness guide: http://www.miamidade.gov/hurricane/library/Hurricane_Guide.pdf. and Emergency Management Office consumer tips http://www.miamidade.gov/oem/consumer.asp. Most of the stuff like evacuation aren’t relevant but some of it might be useful. (Just to note we do not live in an evacuation zone so if anyone wants to come to Miami to ride out the storm, I’ll pick you up at the airport).

One of the ones I didn’t think of is filling baggies 3/4 full and stuffing them in the freezer. Once frozen, they keep the freezer cooler longer if you lose power. Plus when it starts to melt, you have cool drinking water.

Man we are not supposed to get hurricanes here in PA. They are calling for 50 to 70 winds and 5 to 10 inches of rain. sounds like a lot of downed trees and power outages to me. Coastal guys stay safe I know there are alot of mandatory evacts.
My wifes work is offering $5 an hr to sleep over tomrrow night,cause thay are all ready worried about the call outs during the storm.

Yes... we are riding this one out. I'm very relieved that Irene is losing steam. Looks like she'll go right over us as a category 1 which is a LOT better than the original Cat 3 forecast.
At this point we'll start seeing tropical storm force winds in the early AM hours. Hurricane force winds around noon tomorrow. This thing is soooo big that I am not looking forward to the amount of time it is going to take to get out of here. They are calling for 10-12 inches of rain of the next two days.
