I like cracker barrel for breakfast and their dinner food is good, but just a drag when they don't serve beer.

Anniversary ownage.

Happy Anniversary! Hopefully your wife wraps a little padding around the frying pan before she whacks you with it for whatever you ticked her off about this time. :thumbsup2

Oh, and did she ever figure out who sent those flowers?

...
My interview went fairly well yesterday. I think I did a pretty decent job and, according to my recruiter, at least a few of the 6 people who interviewed me liked me and want me to work there. I wasn't expecting to have the interview almost completely in Korean (I did have a translator who worked there help, thankfully). I should be finding out if I got the job sometime early next week...

Sounds promising and best wishes!

I used to love Thursdays - they were my off day. Starting next week, though, the company switched from giving us the option of 4x10 hour days to forcing everyone to do 5x8 hour days. Today is my last Thursday, so I'm trying to enjoy the heck out of it..;)

I hate to hear about your work schedule. I have a flex schedule which means some overnight trips away but the next few days home with them. I think we should start a DisDad movement for a 2 day workweek and 5 days off. No pay decreases.

Thanks. I think I'll tell her to hurry up and fry me up some bacon. I don't want to waste it on the ........ WHACK

Congradts to both of you. :goodvibes

Ohhhhh… I got’s my doubts about that one.

Seconded…
Once upon a time, I was able to work a flex schedule.

I miss those days… :sad1:

I think my son is going to have the hardest adjustment. I started the flex schedule when my wife went back to work after having him. So in his almost 5 years of life, he's never gone to daycare for 5 days a week. Although I will get out of work at 3:30, so I will have a good chunk of time with both kids every afternoon/evening.

When ever me and DW talk in "code" my kids always assume it's Disney. And 9 times out of 10 they are right. :lmao:

My daughter asked me the other day "Do you HAVE to go to the DISboards everyday?"

She thinks it's my job. :)

And a great job it would be. They figured out our code so we just went with it. When we drive in the car (local) or go for a walk, we play 20 questions with the answer being Disney related. We name "things I want to do at Disney" with REPEAT if someone names something already.

And, he will start school in a year so it's an early transition. Now, the one on the way ...

Well, that stinks. Surely they have a good reason for doing so, right? :confused3

Sounds like good news. And you've still got that backup plan at your current position, right? Let's hope it works out.

Happy anniversary! Get your wife those power tools she was asking for. :thumbsup2

I'm sure that will be a bit of a struggle. But I guess the good news is it'll only be for this year, and then he'll be in school. So this, too, shall pass.

:woohoo: sorry barry, the rabbit lived!!!! :woohoo: i really dont know if i could start all over again. im getting to old for it any more.(the being a new dad part):lmao: im hoping to pack it in in another 9 years around here. we have been looking at houses in the sanford area. even with the housing slump i could sell my house here for 30k more than what i could get a nice 3 bedroom, enclosed pool, house in florida. my taxs would be the third of what i pay here. the biggest problem at this point is health insurance. so we are planning to just hold off till brianas out of school and shes up and running on her own. retiring to florida with the rest of the old geezers.:lmao: we are also looking into a merc. grand marc.:lmao:

I've been planning that FL retirement thing as well and my youngest is 7. I have read that with girls especially, they tend to live closer to their parents and the state they graduated college from. Currently, my university offers free tuition for employee's families (only 1 person at a time per semester). So, I am trying to calculate when I can get both thru school, retire, have DW move to FL to establish residency, ... It is complicated.

Power back on around 8:30pm. My neighbor drove a mile or so away and found a ConEd crew. She brought them some sodas and 3 pizzas then asked them to follow her to our neighborhood. Within 20 minutes, 3-4 utility trucks show up and our entire neighborhood comes out to greet them. 15 minutes later the power is restored and there was much rejoicing.
Thanks for all the good thoughts!!

Glad to hear power restored and excellent tactic from the neighbor. Currently, we are on the same power grid as our hospital and Unilever plant. So, when power goes out, we are first to be restored. Unfortunately, they are building a new hospital a few miles away and transferring primary services there. So, I don't know if we'll be the priority in a few years.

It's been a long day and I probably should have been doing this... but I've been THINKING.

Let's pool our money and get a Golden Oaks house. One of the lower end homes at $2 mil. Divide that by 52 dads and it's only $38,461.53. We each get it for one week of the year. And if it turns out the house can fit two families comfortably, then we double the pool and halve the buy-in to $19,230.77

Just start sending me your checks and I'll um... go down there and do more research!! :rolleyes1

You forget the lot fees/ homeowners fees. When I win the powerball lottery Saturday and move there, I'll get you some specifics.

Happy anniversary! Get your wife those power tools she was asking for. :thumbsup2

I was thinking about an air compressor but decided to go with perfume this anniversary. I think air compressor is the present for 12th anniversary.
Have you seen the TV show the "Marriage Ref"? Couples go on TV with their one argument and comedians decide which spouse is right. I saw this one where a husband bought his wife a goat for their anniversary. They lived in some crazy place like Wisconsin.

Interesting. Did he have a gray Wisconsin hoodie on? Or look bruised from a recent fall down a cliff? :scratchin

No self respecting fisherman worries about that kind of weather..

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:
Love the BS smiley!

And of course no self respecting fisherman should worry about some rain. He'll already be wet from falling in the water anyway.

Today is my last Thursday, so I'm trying to enjoy the heck out of it. Picked DD up from her first day of 1st Grade a little while ago, now the kids are swimming in the pool while I have a little DIS time and a Diet Cherry Coke on the deck.
I'm sorry that you lost your 4 10 hour day schedule. That would definitely be nice to have 3 day weekends, but I'm glad you'll at least be home fairly early to spend some time with them.

Then my boiler starts smoking like crazy so I shut it down and the oil company is coming tomorrow to check it out. Threw out basically the entire refrigerator and 2 freezers. At least we are back in our house.

On a more positive note, my men's hockey team (The Rebels) finished 12-6 in the summer league and first in our division. We won our first round playoff game 3-2 in OT and will be playing in the double elimination championship round next week.

Thanks for all the good thoughts!!

Glad you finally have power back. Good luck to your hockey team!:thumbsup2

Happy Anniversary! I'd go to the Mom's club to tell her too, but I'm sure she'll infiltrate us again and read it here anyway.:lmao:

Overall, it was a LOOONG day yesterday. Woke up at 5:30, out of the house before 6:30, took a 2 hour rapid train, a 20 minutes taxi, a 1 hour bus, and a 5 minute taxi to get there (not including waiting times or changing into my suit once I got to the city), the way back was almost the same, except a 40 minute bus instead of the 20 minute taxi. Then went to the wife's bar, had a few glasses of Balentine's and a few glasses Cognac. Got home about 2am, but didn't fall asleep til about 4.
I'm glad the interview went well for you. Hopefully something good will come of it!

Question: The place you're at now, isn't that the place you cut out of your contract early the first time you switched jobs over there?

I was actually pretty excited for fall. With Madison being in school, and Evan having preschool 5 days a week - I would have 3 hours every Thursday morning all to myself. There goes my golfing time...:sad2:

Interesting. Did he have a gray Wisconsin hoodie on? Or look bruised from a recent fall down a cliff? :scratchin
Nope. I know better than to get my wife a goat.

She's probably like a sheep so much better.
